I feel like I'm listening to the parades of the African Kongo warriors 🇨🇩 It's amazin It's hard to believe that your island is at the end of the world, far from Africa, in the antipodes of Kongo.
Pure dose of real traditional warrior dance and movement. Thank you because im tired of new dance groups that wrongly portrays the real physique or a Fijian warrior dance. You guys really rocks.
These native fusion with modern dance pollutes the purity of our traditional dance...bring back the old forms of dance and chants of the old days please...great audio visuals..👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
They are trying to drowned out Melanesian culture and wash down our culture by mixing it with modern society. But our culture alone is so unique and mighty.
Viti is rich with history. Just within the past 150 years was many wars from the far outer islands against the colonial masters (1874-1970) and missionaries (pre 1874). Then on to our coasts, rivers, swamps, up into the highlands. It was Viti against the crusade/holy war. We have history before the abovementioned. During the Verata empire which started about 3,500 years ago. So much history there. But if we go further before this then you will end up to Nakauvadra wars where we're transcending between the mortal world and the arch angels and gods. We have so much depth.
Sometimes I think Fijians are illiterate, Vou is a contemporary dance company first of all. Meaning they mix traditional with contemporary that's why they are named "VOU" it's not hard to understand this💀 Also if you go on their pages it's there. They will tell you this!! Why do you still expect them to be doing full on traditional mekes? We already have groups in Fiji that are already doing this. They are doing something different because it's a business 2nd of all, how do you think everyone in the company gets paid? Every time they perform and get a chance to introduce themselves they will tell people this😂 Stop being lazy and go and learn about them, the good they're doing for kids who want to be dancers. Keeping people employed, cause let's face it we can't all be doctors and pilots.
@@ro2ro168 Good on them; if people want to pay to see Vou, that's their choice. I'm just voicing my opinion, and it's a free country. Some of us would love to see more cultural dance because it's slowly dying away, and we are sick and tired of seeing all this contemporary action song type of meke mixed with traditional dance. Now, kids are confused about what is traditional because of the influence of modern action song types of moves and have lost the Mana of Meke. Vinaka.

Bula vinaka 37 Production, I am a student at the University of the South Pacific working on a research project focusing on the significance of the I-taukei cultural heritage (intagible and tangible) and its relation to the people and the Vanua. I came across your incredible music video on TH-cam titled [Nai Valu Levu] and was captivated by its creativity. I kindly request your permission to include your masterpiece in my research, assuring you that proper attribution and respect will be given. Your video aligns perfectly with my study's themes, and its inclusion would greatly enhance the depth and quality of my work. Thank you for considering my request. Looking forward for your response Best regards
Bula vinaka, permission granted. This video was meant to show our Fijian culture and traditions. We would be glad to be a part of your project. All the best with studies.
the pukuna in Fiji is actually an imitation of a dead persons face when we break the neck with "CALI" warclub or V shaped warclub. Twisting the neck with that club with bring the victims tongue out thus looks like a pukana. When used in a dance it obviously talks about war and intimidation.
Bula Re 37 Production I am a student at the University of the South Pacific and am currently working on a research project that examines the importance of the intangible and tangible I-taukei cultural legacy and how it relates to the Vanua and its people. While doing my research, I came across your amazing music video [Nai Valu Levu] on TH-cam and was enthralled by its originality. I would like to ask for your permission, if it is possible for me to use your creative video for my assessment. Your response will be highly appreciated. Vinaka.
