Can you tell me about the meat stocking position

It's pretty much what you see me doing, minus the forklift. As a stocker your job is to take product from the dropped pallets and put it on the shelf in the correct location and properly rotated by date. You also have to break open boxes and tag the units to be sold individually. It a simple job, but very physical, some of the meat boxes are over 80lb and you sometimes have to lift them above shoulder height.

@@G37xMaN what exactly you mean Tag Units
I’m curious because I have a restaurant depot around the corner from me and I was going to apply for meat stocking and I’m trying get a break through of what the job going to be

So, we have some stuff that sells as case only and other things sell by the case or individual units. For meat, we have a machine that makes scannable tags that show the weight for the cashiers to scan. So, anything that sells by the unit has to have the cases opened and units tagged with a "weight tag". It's not difficult, just kinda time consuming. Hopefully all that made sense.

I start as receiving manager soon. Idk if ill be working the floor but with all the customers around it looks like an extreme safety hazard considering most warehouses make provide mandatory safety training for emolpoyees, and here its just random people walking around

Yea, you just have to be aware aware of your surroundings enough for you and the customers. They pay no attention to what they do most of the time. The regular shoppers aren't too bad though.

Not enough...lol. I'm on salary until January, so I make between 1300 and 1700 every 2 weeks depending on how many days I work. After January, I'll be hourly, so that'll be better.

I'm salary, so I get paid for 48 hours a week no matter how many hours I work. Only benefit is I can take breaks whenever I want.
