Love your videos. Teared up on this one because I’m a Barcelona fan from very little because of my dad and seeing this reminded me how happy I was watching these guys play at least two times a week and I realized these moments will never come back. Realizing I watched Messi’s career blossom and watched him proved all of his doubters wrong. My day will stop every time Barcelona plays and even to this days. Forever fc Barcelona.

And the amazing thing is that this FC Barcelona team at its peak had its team full of homegrown players from their own academy. The midfield trio, the goalkeeper, both centre backs, Messi, and more, all came from Barcelona's famous La Masia football academy.

One of the most underrated players that wasn’t even mentioned in the video is Sergio Busquet. He’s one of if not the greatest defensive midfielder in our current time, and revolutionized the position itself. Every single pivot defender owes him a thank you note, and you owe him a reaction video. His positioning, his pass and ball control is so elegant and simple it almost makes him look like he’s just floating around. Just so grateful I got to watch and admire him.

Barcelona consistently had 3 players finishing top five for the Balon D'or (MVP) for several years, in 2010 they had three guys finishing at the top in the voting. Usually the only team people say is on par with Barcelona was AC MIlan in the late 80's where they won two straight Champions Leagues and also had two consecutive years where they took all the top three spots for the MVP.

As Guardiola mentioned the stars truly aligned. Barcelona did some some TOP Tier signings but the backbone of the team was comprised of La Masia talent which is Barcelona youth program. From La Masia the following players rosed to the first team: Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol, Pique, Busquets, Pedro, Victor Valdes and a few others so basically Barcelona did not spent a dime on these players besides their development lol even Guardiola is from La Masia he played in Barcelona since the youth team then in the first team then he coached the team. La Masia is like the Oxford/Harvard of football academies and they keep developing talent.

  • @arjunkishore4080

One other thing about their team cohesion is that more than half the squad came up through La Maria, the Barca football academy, so they had all learnt the same style of football, and I think Busquets, Pique and Messi were even there for an overlapping period (alongside Fagregas who joined later)

Not to promote Barcelona too much because there's a couple videos about it already on thr chanel, but this Barcelona "era" was so iconic, legendary, so many great players went there, if you are interested in the sport it's something that have to be acknowledged at some point
I already commented it but "Robaldinho - football greatest entertainment" he was kind of Messi's "mentor", he wore the number 10 before Messi, he introduced Kobe Bryan to Messi, he even is the assist of Messi's first goal for Barcelona ; i also suggest reacting to MSN (Messi, Suarez, Neymar) probably the greatest attacking trio ever ; and if you want to see more of their chemistry i suggest "a Barcelona tiki taka masterclass" , great players, they were trained since a young age to play this kind of tactic and they played almost their entire career together
And for something not Barca related, there's "Ronaldo tested to the limit", long but really good video, and videos like "greatests records in football history" or "10 greatests signature moves in football"

Btw, you talked about fifa 24, i don't know if you heard, but this time it will be different, FIFA stopped the "deal" with EA, so EA will make their game as usual still but it will be called EA FC 24 i think, just with some licences in less, and the FIFA is apparently making a game with the licences/rights of everything and will be called fifa, so there will be another "big" football game not "ruled" by EA (excluding FM because it's not the same "type" of game, they offer very different things)

That's why he said "Even Piqué is getting on the scoring sheet"

What’s nuts is most of this team, including the manager, was homegrown talent. Messi joined Barca’s youth academy as a 13 year old. Players like Xavi, Ineista, Puyol, were considered some of the best of all time in their positions. All homegrown. One year, when Messi won the Balon D’or (world’s best player of the year), Barcelona players took up 5 or 6 of the top 10 and swept the podium. It was nuts.

You’ll see that one of the things that differentiate European football from the rest of the world, specially teams like Barca, Real Madrid and others in UK, Italy and France is that they have the youth teams (cantera) and they prepare and nurture these players until they make it to the first team. Messi was scouted when he was like 12y, and he played for the first team when he was 17y, by the time that happened, he already knew and played with half of the first team, and when they won all those titles and had those crazy years the team had 7 guys, Messi included, that were playing together since they were 12-14y. That’s how the chemistry and the understanding among them was so on point.

Before Messi scored his first goal for the first team of Barcelona, the one that counted as his first goal in May 2005. He was playing in the lower grouped teams of Barcelona stage by stage. Each time he was outperforming his team mates, scoring up to 16 goals for his teams. This is part of the reason why he was brought into the first team at such a young age. He was just that good as a youngster, and his performance only got better and better as he played with such phenomenal players around him in the first team.

The team was full of world class players with a high footballing Iq that is why it seems they know where each other is, it had the best midfielders of its generation and the best attackers of its generation, at one point it had Ronaldino , Messi In the attack and later on it had Neymar , Messi and Suarze in the front line. the midfield was ridiculous it had some of the best midfielders in one team to grace the game, it had Inesta , Busguests and Xavi.

Not only chemistry but discipline. It was all about the ball, thus the space created by passing. The players, i. e. Ronaldinho, Iniesta, Xavi, Busquets, Piquet, Puyol, were absolutely amazing. Messi learned from these players. And of course later on, Neymar and Suarez.

Messi had a part in the influence, but the grand master is Pep Guardiola's training Barca. This is what is so hard to understand as an outsider, especially an American outsider. When Messi had to leave Barcelona, those were genuine tears of grief he cried at that press conference. Messi loved football basically from the day he was born, and learned to dominate so young. But it is quite possible he never would have had a chance to play big time football but for Barcelona. Messi was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency at I think 11 years of age, and the treatments were difficult to get acess to and very expensive (I have heard more than $1,000 American dollars a month, though I don't know if that is accurate). Messi signed with Barcelona at 13 years old- the first version of the contract was literally written on a napkin- simply because Barcelona was the only club that offered to pay for and make sure Messi got access to the treatment he needed. That is (my opinion) part of the reason why Messi has always genuinely wanted team success far more than individual success. And when he came up to the first team, very shy and introverted and probably literally afraid some of the time, he was very lucky to have superstars- SUPERSTARS like Ronaldinho (at least the most famoust if not also the best player in the world at the time) and Xavi and Iniesta recognize his talent and will and help him to grow and feel comfortable. And that team first approach, which I believe Messi already had, was fosteed and grown by the brilliant players that were already there. So Barcelona became a place where the players who simply wanted to WIN, went. And that culminated in what I believe to be the best era of any team ever in Football- Barcelona cirka 2008-2018. As an American, it was compilation Messi videos that first sparked me, and over the years, I genuinely believe that I see, and yes, feel, why Football is truly "The Beautiful Game." And if you want to get a feel for why Messi's fans, even early on, considered him the best of the best, you should really review- or maybe just watch, since it is an essay read over a video compilation- "Messi is a dog.">>> th-cam.com/video/mDsztJOgqUg/w-d-xo.html

If I remember correctly. 2007/2008 Barcelona had already positioned itself as a team to be feared, with Ronaldinho (left wing), Messi (Right win), together with Puyol Xaxi, Samuel Eto'o, Thierry Henry, Yaya Touré, Puyol, Then Guardiola Arrives, the genius strategist,
2008/2012 was even more powerful Barcelona, a Messi playoing a better position everyone began to talk about him as one of the best of the generation, along with Xavi, Busquet, Iniesta. Barcelona 2012/2014 had good players dominating football.
In 2014 a Barcelona with Messi, Neymar and Suárez formed -in my opinion- most lethal attacking trio in football, in an unstoppable team, where everyone played perfectly like a well-oiled machine, intelligent and great players like Ineasta, Xavi, search, Jordi Alba. I highly doubt it can ever be a full team like that again. Titles are important, but it's even greater when there's good football, and they had it. Real Madrid had more titles but Barcelona with Messi, Neymar, Suarez etc.. was something else, more beautiful football to watch than any other team in the world. Sorry for my long comment

Every big club has its own prime and peak years in which they dominate world football. As for Barcelona that period is between 2009-2012 and in 2009 season alone they won every trophy possible in a single year. You would normally think that they had best and experienced players in the world. But no, 2009 was supposed to be a rebuild season for Barca. It was the first season of the legendary coach Pep Guardiola and everyone doubted him even the fans, because he had 0 experience managing a professional first team. He had only been coach for the b team (youth team) a couple of seasons. And not only that, the biggest stars and legends at that time like Ronaldinho, deco, eto were all leaving and the coach basically relied fully on the youngsters with little experienced players. Messi was then a young player too, who has yet to be crowned the title of best player in the world. So it was literally unexpected that Barcelona would dominate world football that much, but they did it out of nowhere. Messi didn't already have all the best players in the World when he peaked, he was growing along with his teammates who started with him. And as much as his teammates were good, nobody except Messi could've combined and played that kind of football with them. It's like they complement each other with their playstyle, one without the other is incomplete!
Suarez only joined the club in 2014 along with Neymar, they enjoyed a couple of great season together. But since 2016 Barcelona was on their declining phase, due to several reasons, main one being the poor management by the club's new president. He made several wrong sporting decisions which led to Barca's downfall. Messi single handedly held barca during those period and won several trophies, until he could no longer play for them and left the club unexpectedly both for him and for the club! Even after the club was at it's bottom, Messi didn't wanted to leave. He finally left only due to the contract problems with the management. That's his entire barca legacy, which has been his dream club since childhood. And the story will still miss a piece of the puzzle unless he gets a proper send off.
