    Finally some 90’s music collection! So refreshing. Majority of others collections are like music has stopped at 1989.

      Truth is that vinyl production dwindled to a drip in the 90s, so there just isn't a lot of it out there....

    Just coming across your content and your passion for music is obvious in all of your videos. You spoke about your children and passing things on to them when that time comes. Unfortunately, that time came way too soon for me when my Dad passed two years ago but I inherited his equipment, collection and passion for music, and it made me so happy to see you trying to do the same. Listening to records is my greatest connection to him. Anyway, loving your content and keep up the amazing work!

I also had cassette tapes til I went to CD's {Have 100+ of those} til I got into Vinyl. Nice tour! Love that vintage Zenith turntable and speakers! I loved seeing that stuff growing up. Friends of the family had nice audio gear back in the late 60s and early 70s. I used to sit transfixed staring at the stuff whenever we were visiting and such. About 2010 I was finally able to get some vintage gear I remember. Most of it I have given up or sold, but I still have some pieces I kept. I have a Marantz 2238b receiver and a Sansui 8080db receiver, which is my prized piece. I also have a Pioneer PL510A, a PL530 and a Denon DP47f all still in service today! The Pioneer turntables of old are built like brick houses. So what if I can't stick a $9000 tonearm on them, I don't need to. I also don't have that kind of cash flow.
    I have a pretty fair collection myself, about 700 records (not nearly as big as yours, if it was I would need two apartments). I have my records sorted in similar fashion. Currently, I am wanting to build my jazz collection. I want at least a crate full. I only have about 6 or 7 jazz records right now. I also keep a database with info on my records and such just for fun. I never sell off records because I am very selective in what I pick up. I'm building a listening library as I am not a "collector".
    I also liked seeing all those box sets. I can't afford any of the MoFi stuff. I have box sets from the early days though and they are fun and sound very good as well. That Dylan Biograph set is a gem in regards to sound quality.

    Thanks for the tour. My question has to do with the volume your family will tolerate since it looks like the room is open to the living area downstairs. My pet peeve with speakers is "the veil" that must be lifted to hear detail and soundstage and that comes down to volume. I use high efficiency vintage Frazier horn driven speakers almost exclusively and even these have to get to a certain volume to open up, though at low levels they are mighty enjoyable too. Again, thanks for bringing all of us together in a place that is not judgmental and feels very safe.

    • @NTXVinyl
      @NTXVinyl  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. The room is completely open, so I do have to watch volume at times. But it goes both ways, when I am able to crank it up it fills the entire house. 😄

    Nice video. Been wondering with vinyl boxes as I'm not big fan of them - not very "easy" to use. Saw this one youtube video where this man from Germany had all the vinyls out from the boxes - kind of liked that idea. Might not work with you though as have "few" boxes but for some who have less it can be handy. I hate the idea to move boxes that have no cover - but if vinyls are out and in plastics sleeve then you "save boxes"

Similar to stuff I lusted after in junior high back in the sixties. :) Try moving your speakers out into the room a bit more, the sound will open up, although I understand you may not be able to with family considerations. @@NTXVinyl you have a lot of room to play around, trust me ; ) I would suggest making your chair face the speakers forming an equilateral triangle, also try pulling the speakers away from the walls and corners/cabinets/boundaries at least 18" or more. Ron at new record day has a great video called LOTS that explains speaker and seating listening position very well ; )

      @rexsterling7346 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NTXVinyl Please do the suggestion, you will love it! If not a perfect triangle try as close as possible. Main thing to try is face the speakers and be as centered between them as possible (in a triangle of course). It will give you an amazing sound stage where the vocals will float dead center between the 2 speakers. Use your balance knob if your chair is not dead center.

    I wanted to ask two questions. They aren't necessarily on topic with this video exactly.
    1. I want to find the 2 LP vintage Star Wars record set, and I believe you did have two of them, and I was wondering if you had any in your store? Of course this is the John Williams London Symphony Orchestra version from the 1977 Star Wars A New Hope soundtrack. I went through two copies of that when I was young and I haven't seen it in years. I was curious whether you had any copies for sale? I'm really looking for a NM / VG++ type of copy. And if you do have this 2xLP set, would you ship it locally to Fort Worth?
    I'm legally blind and unfortunately I don't have a lot of local friends that even care about vinyl. They seem to be happy with their mp3 streaming stuff and don't really get into the huge sound differences or care about whether something's compressed or not. Getting a ride over to the Dallas side to pick up something like a vinyl pressing might take quite a while for me. So I'm hoping you do ship locally. I know that I've seen videos and it appears you do.
    2. My second question was really about the way a lot of people store their LPs outside of the album covers nowadays. I get the 3 mm protective cover sleeves and the LP anti-static sleeves for all of my albums. And a lot of people put their albums in the anti-static sleeve and then slip them between the LP cover sleeve, the 3 mm one, and the back of the album cover. I'm guessing the sole reason for this is just to prevent ringwear? But I don't really know what the reasons are and I haven't found a good explanation. It almost seems like this would be more risky or damaging to the albums themselves. But maybe it isn't? I've started doing this myself because I find it easier to pull out the 1 -3 LPs, take them out of the protective LP sleeves, and then put them all back where they are on the back side of the album cover. Sometimes I do have problems with the anti-static sleeves not wanting to go into the slots in the record covers without wrinkling up and making it difficult anyhow and it's just easier to put them on the backside of the cover I find. So that's another plus in my mind for doing it the way many people do it nowadays. But what is the real reason people are storing them on the outside of the record covers nowadays? I'd love to know if there's a reason I'm not familiar with that makes this better. And is there any danger to the albums themselves in doing that?
    Thanks for any help. And I like your setup too! It's great to have everything organized and easy to access and play. I have my analog table which has my turntable, a Marantz tape deck, and soon to be I will have a Robert's RX7 (or R7... I can't remember right now) reel to reel player/recorder as well as an old Pioneer 8-track tape deck I can hook up. One day I'll have my dad's McIntosh system which has been sitting and unused since I last used it in the late 1980s. It has the preamp and I don't even remember what all it comes with. It takes up some real estate but I've been wanting to get that and he's just had it stored, in a case he built out of wood, for decades now in his closet standing up. I remember just how incredible that high-end gear sounded and now that I'm back into vinyl collecting again I'm drooling thinking about having it one day :-)
    Thanks again for any help...

    You’ve got a great space there but your speakers are far too close to the side walls and you really don’t want acoustic guitars sitting in front of them. You could move the two outer units up to the corners and move the speakers into the gaps and then move your chairs into the correct listening position. Have a play around and you will be amazed how much better the system sounds.

    Really cool video thanks dude enjoyed that a lot - great collection and cool system(s). Those box sets - wow I love all those artists. Strongly agree about having a sub, I recently added a subwoofer to my music setup - and outside of an RCM it might just be the best upgrade I’ve ever made - absolute game changer! I went for a REL T9x and it is phenomenally good with music using the high level input - the kick of the drums and rumble of the bass is just incredible. Loved to see the soundtrack collection that was my obsession for the longest time I have some very rare ones from the 80s/90s but don’t buy too many these days tbh. I’m not really a 7” collector I just have around 50 and they’re just chucked in a box, but I’d like to get them in a cool case like you have there.

    I have a couple questions, since I'm seeing this almost two years after it was filmed:
    1) Do you still use that same TT? Curious how the dust issue has been since it doesn't have a cover.
    2) Has your collection grown out of this room yet?? 😁
    3) How do the acoustics sound in there? Looks like it might be a loft area?

    • @NTXVinyl
      @NTXVinyl  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yup same TT. Dust isn’t much of an issue. I spin records so often that a dust cover just gets in the way.
      I won’t grow out of this room. Purposely keeping it contained. It’s nearly “complete” at this point
      Sounds great. Throughout the whole house because yes it’s a very open space

    If you really want those Polks to sing you need a separate amp that pushes at least 200wpc @8ohms 300@4ohms.(at least) I had the RTiA9's and they were way power hungry and had the same driver configuration as yours.
