We need to go back to this kind of movie. This movie, Lonesome Dove, the Selleck/Elliott movies, just to name a few. The scenery, the music, all of it. PLEASE BRING THIS KIND OF MOVIE BACK!!
I'm from Calgary, where the movie was made. A friend of mine was Robert Duvall's driver for the time he filmed here. They had a day off of filming and Robert Duvall asked my friend what he liked to do on a day off. He said that he would go bet on the horses. Robert Duvall said, lets go. Most days I would have been there betting, but I wasn't that day. Missed the chance to buy one of the greatest actors of all time, a drink!
Great movie. I saw it in the theater, owned the video cassette, and the DVD (I think I’ve watched this before a long time ago on the DVD). Thanks for posting.
An absolute classic of a film. Every time i see its being shown again on tv i just have to watch it. Thats the sign of a great movie or me. Sane with the graduate
I love a good western. I've seen many western movies but not a lot of good ones. Open Range is one of the good ones. Partly because I'm a huge Robert Duvall fan as well as Kevin Costner but mostly because as I've traveled across this country I can't help but think what it must have been like for the early settlers who blazed trails for the first time as they moved west. It's sad to me that so few good westerns are being made today. Then again it's sad that so few good movies are being made.
agreed !! its one of my favorites, i watch it all the way through every time i see it. I like the fact they mixed in the love story with some pretty violent parts, i like it when he saves her and blasts the guy to bits , thanks for watching!!
I've recorded this and I can truthfully say I have probably watched it 500 times and will continue watching it. So guess you could say it I LOVE IT. Whole family can
Anita Minyard. I love this movie, too, and when I like one, I buy the dvd. It's a small price to pay for something I passionately support. I don't know how much it helps, but when you hear Kevin talk about the expenses, you hear how much they need all the help they can get.
@@marlenalinne6100 just watched scenes edited out of movie and Costner was doing the talking and explaining and that was great and don't know how they decided what to cut. It was great. But of course Costner could read the ingredients from side of a cereal box and sound great!!!!
7:57 The struggles that he had to face, the mountain that he had to climb. You really gotta respect him for being who he is. He’s not just an actor, he’s one of a kind.
That's goddamn amazing. I didn't know anything about how a movie is made these days.Kevin reminds me a little of a guy I know. He's worth a million now but it's unbelievable that he did that by shamarmind people. He's a good guy who I like. We're getting a little old so no chance of getting richer.
if i didnt say it before, this is one of my favorite westerns of all time & I watch them all. Its got everything i like and more, just sayin, thanks for watching !!!!
one of my top Westerns, was enjoying it for free on TH-cam before they switched it to pay while I was watching it... i swear, all of a sudden it starts lagging and I go refresh the tab and boom, no movie but it made me look this up I'm going to enjoy this documentary as much if not more
I supplied raw materials to the movie set west of calgary in Morley..I believe there were only 2 set locations. .one in Longview alberta and the other location was at stoney nakoda lodge off of highway 1a
im thinking Kevin learned as much as you can about movie budgets and how far they go when he did Waterworld, he makes it happen in this one for 25 million. i wont even give you the numbers for waterworld, they are crazy lol you learn from your mistakes thats for sure. 😁
@@johngodbout7341 it was crazy , they were worried that they wouldnt make the 200-250 million dollars they spent, but it did better world wide and video sales were good. thanks for watching!

great story, thanks for watching!
Every movie you direct has a musical pace to it. Pace is what makes the difference in the magical outcome. ❤
Such a beautiful observation ❤
Love this movie - Definitely in my top 5 Westerns!

Love his passion.
He is a master class on life and making movies.

And yet Waterworld still made over $90 million, even though it had a high budget.

Your amazing!
Create that magic again.
Awesome movie ❤️😊
A very strong solid Western. The last good one I've seen I think.
True Grit was not bad but was also a remake.
A good movie... not very many good ones nowadays.
KEVIN COSTNER💪👑💪
Westernkind is amazing!
It’s too bad they didn’t leave the set up it would have made a great tourist destination
It was still up until some partiers burnt it down very disappointing
they do not make good westerns like open range the recent good western i wacthed was old henry.
hostiles was a good western I think. Old Henry was brilliant.
