It's 2010, you just discovered chillwave and still in high school. Your friend has a cheap 90s beater as a first car and you pop this bad boy in his tape deck while smoking a j and driving to a nice watering hole. Life is good
The beats in here, man. Washed Out and Blank Banshee are what made me like chillwave in the first place. It's great to listen to when you're in a bit of emotional turmoil. Also good to draw to, for me.
album came out year after i graduated highschool. somehwere in that sweet spot after highschool before the rest of your life starts. good times. Time is going too quick. S T O P I T
it's up on spotify and apple music now! :) but idk... still think I like this gritty lo-fi sound more. "Luck" is especially weird bc he brought the pitch down on the remaster
Washed Out - High times. Only pressed 200 and one is selling right now. A couple are on discogs. Thanks for digging up your old player and recording this!
Coming from the 2018 re-release to this sounds like the distant "Washed Out" version but so endearing to hear especially 'Phone Call' which sounds phenomenal.
washed out has been the biggest inspiration for my personal music for quite some time now, the lofi synths with funky basslines has driven me to a completely new frontier in my musical career but up until recently i never noticed due to moniters that all his mixing secrets are in his panning ability's where i live now i use headphones more than moniters so im just catching up on it but its all in the pannning i still wanna meet him because i live less than a half hour from him and discuss arrangement i cant help but feel his technique is heavily dependent upon panning using moniters rather than sending to a master or mastering with headphones
I agree with playing the finished product on multipul mediums prior to release, id kill to know ernest greens vocal secrets tho Dx i love the harmonic heavily reverbed "washed out" sound i cant for the life of me obtain the texture
***** unfortunately I don't haha I just have amazing taste in music, but I don't know much about producing or anything that involves any type of instrument :(
pick up some getta bass a guitar and a synth, and a daw look stuff up on youtube youll learn its easy! thats how i did it and i feel like i have a pretty good thing going!
Every album is his best album, that's why he's my favorite for many years now, looking forward to the one that drops this summer, Notes From A Quiet Life, and looking forward to seeing when this comment is several years old and he has released many more albums. I'm so glad to have found an artist to follow that is much younger than me, with the somewhat selfish hope that he will keep making amazing music for as long as I'm alive on this planet.
Josh matson i use a mikrokorg but it also does midi controller if you like vst's A really killer free vst is alchemy by camel audio there are a ton of great soft washed out sytle sounds and a bunch of cool leads
same here. i listen to this album in my car every now and then. one of the best chill wave albums. i am late on this type of music. although this album came out in 2009 i did not learn of it until 2015
Agree. That melody at the end could of been used in the chorus or something. Feels like the song should of been fleshed out more. But its prolly the best one on here. 80s greatness.

+Fèlix There's just something unique and awesome about this one that's different from the rest. Thanks for the upload. I've been listening to it since you first posted it years back.
Maggie Boston well this was the very first album that Ernest made in his bedroom. Back then when "Chillwave," was becoming somewhat popular. Although, I still find Washed Out to be the only "Chillwave," artist still making tracks to this day.
+Fèlix Yeah Washed Out is the most well respected at least. A few that are still sort of chillwavey out there are Brothertiger, Work Drugs, Summer Heart, and I'm sure there's a few more. Brothertiger is definently my favorite next to Washed Out these days.
+Maggie Boston They all have songs that are similar to Chillwave, but they're not as consistent as Washed Out. Although, Brothertiger has been consistent af. I remember listening to him way back in 2012.
You can torrent Washed Out's full discography, or you can also buy the cassette, since that's how this EP was distributed . (No CD or vinyl unfortunately)
You guys should listen to Stassney, he is on soundcloud. I consider Stassney chillwave like Washed Out, but you guys be the judge. Check him out and also his other project NyT Heat.
Thanks for the comment, I know I just have to wait till I have money...lol. I'm buying like three albums one to play, one to keep and one to put to CD.
Anyone know where I can find a high quality/high bitrate download of this EP? I can't justify purchasing a cassette tape in 2016. I'd love to purchase it digitally via iTunes or Bandcamp but it's not available there.
Wow,I thought my music was muffled and not clear, but this sounds like there is a sock over the speakers, yet I still like it,i"d just like to hear it with a bit more clarity the feels are great.

Even though it's 2023, this is one of my fav albums ever. This is one of those albums that just never gets old
The remaster is nice and clean but I just love the washed warbled sound of the original cassette 👌🏼 both versions take on different form
I feel like the original sounds more raw.
True, this is my favorite version. Fresh and raw, indeed.
its Dec 2019 and I still find myself coming back to this album. Timeless.
I just met Ernest today on my way to work. Best Monday ever.
José Díaz that is dope. Where’s he living now? He’s from where I used to go to school
The song "Phone Call" is so drunk. I love it.
I cant and never will get tired of ernest greene, i think i'm in love
