Bro, you are a life-saver! I'm working on a scene with hundreds of rigid/soft body tags and at one point the computer couldn't bake the dynamics but now I can export each element as an alembic file and then import all the alembic files in the scene and continue the project.

Got a animated character from blender, he send it as alembic but made a real mess of it on his end. This made the alembic impossible to work with because the seperste parts of the character all jumped to a different position in my scene. Glad to see it's on his end, hope to have better experience with it in the future.

Very helpful and useful. I wasn't aware of those multiple scenarios alembic could be used. The Voronoi fracture and cloner is really neat!

But what happens with the textures??? where do they go? 😅

  • @loganpenciu7317

A good idea for a plugin/ script would be a way to export as alembic and automatically re-import and copy over all assigned materials from the original object. I would gladly pay for that.

This was very useful to Info, thanks. Your Voronoi Fracture and connect example is pretty interesting. Can I evenly texture fractured objects in Unreal if I save them as Alembic? Thank you

Question: I have a cloth simulation that I want to bake as an Alembic file.
If I bake the entire simulation, including the objects that are connecting with the cloth,
will I no longer be able to give them individual textures and materials once they're baked in?

    Does cinema 4d r19 have alembic 😅😶😞

  • @basifernandez

In Cinema4D version R25, Connect command (min 2:00) doesn't work as in R23. I've tried in both. In R23, like video. In R25 no.

can C4D import an alembic sequence yet? was hoping this would be possible by now. RealFlow's stitcher is terrible.

I have a question, Is it possible to delete some polygon of some animation and still having the animation? I have 2 equal objects animated but one of them I want to change deleting some polygons, is that possible? Many thanks

Only problem is that Alembic not always works e.g. when using Fracture with various effectors and falloff's.
Cinema 4D really sucks sometimes, it would never be an issue in Houdini or elsewhere.

do you know how the overwrite for renderings works? like aninating the low poly and render high. i cannot find anything out there

  • @AgentSmith13
    @AgentSmith13 ปีที่แล้ว

I just sent a project to a renderfarm with alembic animation and none of the alembic stuff rendered. the rest did. So...Yeah, not bomb proof

  • @gusmaiawork

cool tutorial but bake alembic is more of a curse than a blessing, most of the times, for me it's the ultimate resource for when you can't get away with a bake simulation/mograph cache
