    Wow! I too stayed at Cerro Lodge in 2015 and took the same trip on the Rio Tarcoles and went into Carara. Thanks for the memories!

    While there are a few misidentified birds in this video, know that correction is done in good faith, and we're all very thankful for the videos you post. They give us a window into places we would like to visit, help us plan and know what to expect, and above all give us some color and light in these quarantine days. Thank you.

    Cool vid. I noticed at 17:41 you can see another woodpecker in the background to the lower left behind some unfocused leaves. looks like maybe a Hoffman's. gotta love CR

    Hi, I have been really enjoying your videos, having only discovered them recently. I realise this was from a few years ago, but fyi the bird(s) heard then seen at around 10:45 are Black-hooded Antshrike (Thamnophilus bridges), rather than Dot-winged Antwren. Excellent videos, thanks for uploading so many of your trips!

      I thought it was a Dusky Antbird

      @uniquity2 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Chasstful I was listening to songs of the two, the antshrike has a more laughter-like song that ends with a final abrupt note after accelerating, unlike the dusky antbird, which has a higher-pitched more piping call with out the final note. Also i believe the antshrike has more pronounced white spots on the wing coverts, but it really is a hard call unless you really listen. I thought Dusky Antbird as well initially.

      I believe the other misidentifications are the Slaty-backed( not tailed) Forest-Falcon, which should be an imm. Double-toothed Kite( the falcon wouldn't have the line on the middle of throat, and would have scalloping below instead of streaks, and is also the rarest of the forest-falcons), the American Golden-Plover, is the more common and habitat appropriate Black-bellied Plover( clue is in the white ventral area, American golden is smaller billed with black all the way down to the vent), experts say the Mangrove Black-Hawk is thunderingly rare/ non-existent in Costa rica, also currently classified as a subspecies, so this is more likely the Common Black-Hawk expected and common in this habitat, and the Spotted barbtail based on the low elevation, more rufous tail with distinctive long sharp tail feathers and short bill should be a Wedge-tailed Treecreeper. I'm not trying to take away from these videos, I really enjoy them. I have photos on ebird from Asia that I have asked experts to weigh in on and no one has, I would rather know what they are than to go on thinking they are something uncommon if they aren't and learn for future travels.

    Hi, check your "slaty tailed forest falcon" , that is actually a double toothed kite .

    at 11:20, spotted Barbtail is incorrect, that's a high elevation species
