I'm not sure the critics of this video realise how EXTREMELY DIFFICULT this piece would be to pull off. To stay on tune, keep YOUR lyrics correct, to enter the song at the proper moment....now, are the lyrics great poetry? No. But the MUSIC is sublime. And the finished piece, lyrics and music combined, is positively delicious. Brava, Ladies!
Ikr it's horrible I love English history they destroyed it
Yeah. I tried to do it with some of my friends just for giggles. And some of us would sing the others parts. And when we were all singing together after Katherine parr had finished her part we didn't even try to complete it

I actually like this version as well
@AK sleepover hacks a story that you think you think you hred before!
If you ask me Anne of Cleaves, the fourth wife, got off the best than any of them. Kathrine Aragon, the first wife, was divorced and separated from her daughter, Anne Boylne was executed on false charged, Jane died birthing a son she never met, Catherine Howard was 19 and killed for falling in love with another man, and Cathrine Parr had to deal with him towards the end, and become his widow. Anne of Cleaves got divorced from Henry, didn’t have to bare him a child, and got some money and a home for her troubles.
Megan Menard Jane would have seen her son... she died a few days after the birth and I think he was already christened before she died
She's the one that TRULY survived.
True
Actualy Jane died a week after childbirth and did not die of child birth bud died of pneumonia
Megan Menard if you ask me Jane had it the best. But that’s just my opinion 🐸☕️

Video: king Henry treated us horribly
Description: SEE THE GREATEST KING IN HISTORY COME ALIVE
BWAHAAGABSIKSKSSK IT REALLY SAYS THAT
I love how Jane’s not complaining for how she was treated, but for how Mary was. It’s honestly sweet and acknowledges their relationship which a lot of people ignore.
it really shows the paralelle between her and Boleyn. Jane was kind to Mary... Anne certainly wasn't and apparently humiliated her as often as she could.
That's because she died due to giving birth. Therefore she did not live long enough for him to fall out of "love" with her.
@@Dermacrosis I mean, even if you don’t take that into account, I’m almost certain he was unkind to his “true love” and she was definitely scared of him. He apparently threatened to kill her if she meddled in his affairs when she begged for the lives of the Pilgrimage of Grace. Never spoke a word against him after that. Granted, she gave him a son, I dunno if he’d kill her considering he’d have no real reason to at that point. Probably would still be an awful husband, but I don’t think he’d kill her.
@@samanthakelly718 Don't look at it with todays eyes, that would not be seen as unkind back then. Wives were not meant to take an active roll and just to demure to their husbands, in the higher echelons of society that was even expected to the point of violence.
No monarch is going to look kindly on someone asking them to forgive a rebellion against their rule even their wife. You have to compare that to the treatment of his pervious wives.
His next wife, which caused the downfall of Cromwell, even though insulted gave Henry what he wanted as she was very smart, and so she not only ended up one of the richest women in England as he settled a number of estates on her, she was also always welcome at court and he called her his beloved sister.
@@Dermacrosis "Don't look at it in today's standard" doesn't mean what was mentioned was wrong and a literal opposite of it is true. History is not black and white.

No need to imagine it, we've got TH-cam down here! #livingkingly
This was amazingly good and original. I believe the last of the song lyrics are Catherine Parr and Jane singing: "I feel so sorry for you. You poor man, I wish that you were dead." while the other wives sing: "You greedy, conceited, suspicious, deceitful, cantankerous old man. You greedy, facetious old man. I wish that you were dead." I could be mishearing some of the words, but I think that is the gist of it. Lets hope this gets a revival or some local theaters do some productions, because, really, it's very good. I've liked some of the other songs from it that have been posted as well. Nice to see such talented young people in this sort of production.
They are all singing different things with the exception of the very end where they all say that they wish he was dead. Here Catherine Parr instead sings "They wish you were dead" since she didn't have such a bad marriage and didn't have the same reasons for him to be dead. There are several comments with the lyrics which I found very helpful in case you haven't found them.
I had chills... holy shit. Imagine Henry hearing this for all eternity from them
That would be just punishment for him. But not only would he hear them. Also his daughters. He treated them equally bad . Not to forget all those he executed.
“You greedy, impatient old man, I wish that you were dead” that’s part of one of the last’s lines.
Six: * clears throat * *allow me to introduce myself*
We are the *ex wives* so *don't lose your head* over them as there is *no way* that *all you wanna do* is be them. Your *heart of stone* cant handle their lives. After all, they *Didn't need* his *love*.

I hate the way henry mistreated several of his wives, he was selfish and abusive, when his wives were loyal to him(except katherine howard), he hanged out with the other women, if the wives went out with other men, he sentenced them to death!! Man it was you who betrayed them first!!! Also i am so sick when the men in history blaming their wife for not bearing a son! Whether the baby is a boy or not is not decided by a person's will, it is based on the natural, the genetic information! The men's sperm decides that! How foolish those men were!!
Tatianna Leeman Anne boylene didn't even commit adultery. Katherine should've learnt from that when Anne was beheaded. Lucky Anne of cleves the last surviving and getting the most from her marriage anullment.
I feel like you'd really like Six, it's a musical solely about the wives telling their own stories
+Xinyi Sally Peng Well back then adultery on the part of the queen was considered to be treason and even today treason is punishable by death. It was a matter of succession, since the queen being a woman was the one who bears children it had to be a sure thing who the father of her children was. After all they didn't have paternity tests back then so the queen could have bore an illegitimate child and given the country a bastard for a prince and no one would know. Therefore she was expected to remain faithful to him. On the other hand the king could spread his seed and it wouldn't affect the succession since his illegitimate children could not inherit the throne so it didn't matter. You have to realize that back then they didn't have the information we have now. Heck they thought a woman's vagina, cervix, uterus and ovaries were just a penis and testes inverted LOL.
Even if it were and women could choose the gender look at China look at the arrogance of men being assumed better look at femininity of course men just had to have an easier time with everything even with being forced into battle even with assumed competence.
I mean Katherine Howard was r*ped by one of Henry’s friends so technically yes and no
Henry VII the musical walked so SIX could run
Bro...this is skill. To repeat your verse without tripping or singing another’s verse? BRAVO
alternative title: henry viii has a mental breakdown while his wives angrily sing at him
Anytime the 3 girls said “I wish you where dead” you could hear the pain and aggression in it like it was real!
Back then that was more a national thing, and we are only talking about England at the time as that is the only country he was monarch of.
i think this song definitely gives the queens the respect they deserve for having to deal with him
Why is Henry being played by such a young actor, when, to have known all these wives, he should be a decrepit older man?
Well it is a high school production
And it would be weird with all these teenage girls-
Maybe it represents the younger Henry Catherine of Aragon was married to. Apparently he was rather handsome when young.
I assumed it was a recap/aftermath and everyone is in their younger years... idk
i mean the actors were all 12-17 years old so i think thats the point

If hell truly exist this is how Henry is being punished
I think this is how Henry felt near the end of his life.
While he was bed ridden in horrific pain with his gout and diabetes, such visions , thoughts and dreams would very likely plauge his mind. Especially as he was so afraid of death and eternal damnation.
One hallucination he likely had was Anne Boleyn looking at him and taking her head off.

He never said she was ugly, nobody ever did. When he met her, he went to her dressed as a simple gentleman and kissed her on the lips, but she didn't recognize him under his disguise and slapped him really hard. That's why he said "I like her not".

If you know anything about he history of Henry and his wives, this song is very well beyond a satisfying listen.
Catherine of Aragon and Anne of Cleaves are my favourite
Ezekiel Bertrand, fun fact: Cleves was the last to die, out of all the wives and Henry. She also stayed friends with Henry after they divorced.
So Henry’s “Flanders Mare” did not look like a horse at all?
Viet Mapper nope! Just anne
He divorced her because she didn’t recognize him when he greeted her in disguise
Simren Bajaj It was because the marriage was never consummated, but the fact he held that against her is why it wasn’t.
When they first met Henry decided to act out an old English fairy tale. she ended up publicly humiliating him because she did not recognize him, as he wasn't a dashing young attractive prince, he was an old fat man, almost 50 years old. He never saw her the same, even though she was beautifu,l and he divorced her soon after. So, in conclusion, she was actually beautiful and only Henry and the people kissing his butt said she was ugly.
Nope, I was pretty good looking by modern standards(everyone agreed my portrait was accurate)

@Trinity Gilreath i mean jane Seymour maybe died 1 or 2 weeks after give birth, and anne Boleyn maybe framed by henry and she was a kinda great politician but ok
I saw that a few years ago and then I listened to Six and was expecting to hear this 😅
wow i love six the musical
DolphinGirl285 six be quaking-
Its like Six before Six
The voices are pretty, but how are we supposed to understand them when they're all singing over each other?
I have the lyrics, if you're interested
please send me the lyrics. I need it huhu :(

Henry my dear love
Long time no see love
I have not forgotten the dreadful way you treated me
You have shown no remorse
No guilt of course
How you sleep so well at night I'll never know
Henry you
Disgust me
You spread false rumours of my adultery
You can't talk you are worse than me
You won hands down with infidelity
A baby boy to you I gave
Some say a sacrifice I made
You treated Mary oh so grave
For that I never forgave
When you first laid eyes on me
You didn't like what you could see
The boots are now on the other foot
From here to me you don't look too good
A new lease on life, I gave to you
But in return all you could do
Was make me promises with empty words
That was no way to treat this wife
A nurse to you I may seem
I hear you curse I hear you scream
In your reign of terror many people you hurt
Some say your pain is your just dessert
And after that point I'm lost
+Olive K Thank you so much. 😘😘
Lexi Grimbrooke it is easy to mishear the lyrics, but they simply repeat their part of the song.
Nice shave Henry!!!!!!
Am I crazy or the girl who plays Catherine of Aragon looks a lot like Mary from The Tudors?
I can see that
Omg I see it too
My reaction when the all sing together is like Henry’s
I’m not hating i have watched this many time i love this song
