Yeah, the only real difference between this version and the official animated version on her channel is how this one is more feral and less of a nudist.

Anyway the whole "nudist Gura" thing comes from how Gura explained away an incident where she apparently appeared nude during a private call with the other myth members prior to their debut. She said that atlanteans only wear clothing for formal occasions, and now it's lore!

I'm not even a HoloLive fan but this is just a beautiful short film! I love the aesthetic and the character design looks like a mix-breed between traditional anime and Jamie Hewlett's artsyle and I am ridiculously in love with it! Can't wait to see more of your work!

@@nakiyame2606 she seems pretty chill idk, it might be just Ame exploring ruins in scuba gear or something to find and awaken Ina as some sort of mystery of boat crashes in the area due to odd energy Ina was creating.
I'm sure this animation will be about the first meeting of a Gura and Ame. I hope we saw how Ame uses the clock and the battle between Ame and Gawr!

Even with the unusual style, it's actually quite nice, and looks beautiful, especially with the stop motion aspect.

@@dzerkle Doubt it was budget issues. This animation took a while to make, and with the high quality of it, the studio probably had quite enough money.
The style was a choice you can tell especially bc it was done more than once and the style gave me major box trolls and paranorman animation vibes

Bruh, first Gura gives us her official anime of her origin and now we get this masterful, handcrafted piece of animation for Ame? We are too blessed in this community to be given such fine content. This was a beautiful piece to watch, the animation is so wonderfully unique and charming, the score fits perfectly with the characters and scenes. I cannot praise this enough. Excellent job, C.L! I hope Watson and Gura get a chance to see this and enjoy it themselves.

It will never cease to amaze me just how creative the community in Hololive is. There are absolute masterful gems like this that come out from purely a labor of love, and it's honestly inspiring.
man, this is just straight up incredible. the movement choreography, the expressions, the atmosphere - all of it is planned out amazingly, and without dialogue supporting it to boot. absolutely phenomenal
THIS IS SO AMAZING!! i clicked on this randomly without knowing it was about hololive, because i thought that the art in the thumbnail was really nice and i love the art style, i was not expecting a whole animation?? this is so beautifully done!!
Finally we see Gura as she TRULY is, a feral little goblin child.
Kidding aside, this just oozes with style, I have some minor critques with the quality of certain elements, but the character expressions and movements are so charming it overwhelms the little issues.
I like to imagine that the previous Gura short is how she perceived what her first time on land was like, while this was how it was actually like.
2:49 This scene is so well done. You can see in Ame's facial expressions her entire character, without even muttering a single word, her choice to either turn Gura in or to protect her. Which she eventually chooses the latter. also on a further note, I love the character modelling, the small freckles on Ame's face, the scratches and scrapes on Gura's body, it gives SO MUCH more to what we're used to, just a 2D rig or a 3D one. Bravo, this short animation is brimming with creativity and an obvious passion for the beloved hololive idols.
P.S.
4:03 this scene where Gura wiggles her hips before pouncing is so much like a cat, there are so much little details in this short video that makes rewatching it worthwhile

I see a little more. And it plays to both of their lores. Amelia's expression at 2:39 seems to be one of happy recognition followed quickly by confusion; almost like she is seeing a familiar friend only to be countered by a lack of recognition in return. Then, when she sees Gura's tail, she starts to put some pieces together and turning her in was not an option.
I think what we see here is their first encounter in "real time", Gura's perspective of time. The constables' uniforms, Ame sourcing from hardcopy newspapers, string and a peg board not a computer all indicate an older age. Granted, the shock rods seem a little out of time, but...steampunk maybe? Ame's personal time stream is so skewed there is no telling at what point in her past they interacted.
I think she was simply trying to solve a mystery and wasn't expecting it to lead to Gura...the crimes being unlike her quiet, gentle friend. This also plays well with the piece released in December and even the recent Shark'd...the latter happening more in a present day "real time".
I would love an entire movie in this art style. It's so warm and unique.
This has to be the best quality animation I've seen on youtube, and it's a fanwork as well! The attention to detail is really good !
Feels extremely canon. In a way Ame really is the one "human" amongst the myth crew that would be the most accepting of them before humanity would first.
This is easily one of the best pieces of fan content that's been made so far. It's such a unique style and tone, while still capturing a lot of the anime aspects that make them cool.
There's so much attention to every little animation, and the style! omg, from one artist to the other, this is top-notch amazing work

This was so crisp, it's a DAMN SHAME that it ain't feature length. The visuals look stunning, the animations are fluid and vivid, and the expressions feel so alive. That water skill Goombus used looked so pretty as well.

Everyone is so expressive and the models are so well made. I can tell a lot of skill and love went into the project.
I'm sure you don't mean it this way, but all the more reason for me to say. "Talent" refers to the idea of skill you were simply born with. So referring to someone's skill as "talent" diminishes the hard work they put into refining it.

@@realNoMee a lot of people (including me) tend to use the word interchangeably. I know by definition it's not right but it's a compliment. I just mean the creators are good at what they do. Believe me as someone studying fine arts in college I know talent as by definition is a frustrating thing to talk about. However,seeing as the comment was liked by the creators I'm pretty sure they didn't take it negatively. No harm no foul.
(As to not get the comments into an argument section I'll humor and change the wording.)

The direction, the lighting, the sound, and of course the animations... this is just amazing. I love when people take the lore of Myth in a more horror-style direction, and this short (and series???) is doing that in just the best way possible. If you guys are able to make more, I will await them eagerly!! But either way, this is mindblowing and a real masterpiece, and you should all be super proud!

As someone who barely watches vtubers at all I find it amazing the passion that surronds them and the communities they create. Beyond the how amazingly well done the style this animation is done in the story that it creates is just as amazing. I can't wait to see a chapter 2
