It's quite surprising how the Ghana national team is struggling. I remember when Ghana edged out Nigeria to qualify for the World Cup. No disrespect to Ghana but they were fortunate to get to the World Cup at the expense of that star studded Nigerian team. A horrible goalkeeping blunder by a certain Francis Uzoho led to the game ending 1-1 with Nigeria trying everything to score but eventually getting a goal a penalty converted by Troost Ekong. Honestly, that Ghana team looked ordinary and lacked leaders in the squad. It kinda showed over time.
The bitter truth is that Ghana as a Footballing nation is not producing quality players like before. I remember the likes of Anthony Bafoe, C.K. Akunnor, Anthony Yeboa, Abedi Pele, Raymond King, Nii Ordatey Lamptey (best U17 player during the 1991 U17 World Cup...I think it was hosted by Italy if I can remember correctly), Augustine Ahinful, Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari etc. How many Ghanaian players have been playing well consistently for the past 5 years?
I think Ghana needs to go back to the grassroots to discover, nurture and send such players to foreign Clubs where they can monitor them to ensure that they develop.
Past underage Ghana teams have been relatively good. What has happened of recent to these age grade teams? The Ghana Football Federation seems to be missing some things.
I have been watching and analysing World Football including African Football since 1982 and I can say that Ghana used to be a formidable Football nation before but it's not the case these past years.

That Ghana last won the AFCON in 1982 is a pointer to a very serious underlying problem.

Otto should not be sacked, the best coach in the world will not fix these problems because they don’t have enough time with the players, the biggest problem is there is no team chemistry. Apart from the right to dream boys there’s no players in this team who played and came up together in the youth ranks, we’ve got a patchwork of a team, give Otto time, to work with the same group of players consistently and we will improve, we need to play a back 3 because we’ve been poor defensively for like 5 years now, Gideon and Lamptey as wing backs, and Seidu in a back 3 with Djiku and Salisu, Mumin could come in for Djiku or Salisu because they don’t partner well together. No matter what we should not bring back Kwesi Appiah, he had 2 chances, and both times with the talent he had at his disposal we were left underwhelmed. Still believe in Ghana, I have no doubt that with Otto in charge we will top or WC qualifying group. CAF should have really doubled up the WC qualifying with the Afcon qualifying like they did in the 2005 qualifying, so we could use this time to play friendlies instead, so our team can develop.

Kurt Okraku has created some bad luck. Despite the bribe Nyantakyi , we thrived. Okraku sacked Kwesi Appiah despite getting out group stage in 2019 Afcon (losing to tunisia on penalities in Round 16). Then winning his subsequent next two games against SA and San Prinicipe. Since then we have been in steady freefall. Appiah has had the best record/performance of the last 4 coaches. Also our talent at the time of Appiah was poorer than our current talent. Appiah didnt have prime Kudus, Semenyo, Partey, Jordan, Salisu, Mumin. He got out of the group with likes of Samuel Owosu, Andy Yiadom, Jon Boye in the starting 11.

The problem is not solely the coaching. Our roots are spoiled. It starts from up top. It’s systemically imbedded within the leadership in the GFA. A TERRIBLE GFA President, rigged call ups in our youth level Ghana squads, a poor Ghana Premier League, no chemistry within the team because almost all of our players have not played youth level Ghanaian football together, non stability in our coaching staff, poor facilities, etc. There are so many issues. But it starts from upper leadership.

Perhaps GFA president should not be a Ghanaian. Forget all the pride, this is a generational constant. If you say you want to grow then you need drastic change, an outside the box perspective. Nana Addo needs to reform the rules of appointing a GFA president and honestly it shouldn't be a Ghanaian, there I said what I said. Point two, Ghana is not a futbol nation just starting out, for us to be taking low experience coaches, that to me is nonsense Otto needs a lesser position before he can be even considered to coach the senior team, for me he's more suited for U23. The senior team mantle is meant for well seasoned coaching not this trial and error learning on the job nonsense

@@SaharaFootball Well you see the reason I say he should not be a Ghanaian is the fact that for me a GFA president should be someone who above all has a love for futbol. The Ghanaian culture is a love for self image and money, when we appoint a Ghanaian he's too busy looking for fans, looking to make his image you get me? There's no passion for the futbol itself. Brazilians, Portuguese, Germans, Uruguayan, the culture here is an extreme love for futbol. That outside the box perspective is one that would put futbol first and not their self image and money making. If Kurt loved futbol then our stadiums would not be a national embarrassment, you see what I'm saying?
