I was in Athens for a week three weeks ago and it’s such a memorable place. Seeing those streets makes me want to go back. Have some oregano potato chips for me!

How can anyone not like Greece? Seeing all of the empty tables, they really must depend on the tourists, and are hoping that things are back on their way to returning to normal. As you said, it might still be a bit early in the season, but better that than having to deal with the peak summer tourist crowds.

Love Greece..worked 2 summers there in the late 90's..So many islands! i'm very jealous...but really glad your out travelling sharing the experience Gab.

@@GabrielTravelerVideos Actually i worked on the Mainland in the South close to Porto Heli and in Halkidiki in the north. but i did venture to some of the islands...Spetses, Poros, Hydra, Skiathos...some others i can't recall. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your island hopping.
I see. The Halkidiki peninsula is definitely on my list to visit. I haven't been to any of the islands you mentioned. A lot to see in Greece.

4:12 wow I remember taking the Blue Star ferry from Igoumenitsa to Venice back in the summer of 2006..just to see that revived the memories..
Seeing that Garelli moped brought back so many memories from the mid-eighties. Me and my buddy from high school, would ride an identical one all the way from Athens to Marathon and back. That was a big adventure on such a bike with a lot of pushing involved.

Ah great memories this brings me of when I lived not too far from there where you started in Athens, and the train ride that was once my commute to work! Glad to see things are lively again there after the long covid lockdowns.

Would you ever come visit and explore Southern Peloponnese?Mani and Monemvasia definitely worth to pay a visit also Mystras would also be a really cool sight
That's a great idea. Go to Sparti, visit Mystras and then drive over Taygetos mountain all the way to the city of Kalamata and from there you can continue all the way to Mani, which is one of the most unique regions in Greece and one of my personal favorites. Mani and Monemvasia are two of the best preserved medieval places in the country.
And the Elafonisos, maybe a ferry to Kythira?!

These are the places in Australia that I find fascinating, not so much Sydney--or Perth--which resemble large cities anywhere. Gabriel doing a "walkabout", exploring cave paintings of the "Dreamtime"---that would be so great!
No intention to make an advertisement, but I have used an app for the position of all the ships around my location. It is called marine traffic. It can be very helpful. But I think there is some niche here for a more specialized app, like scanning your paper ticket and giving you instructions how to get to where the ship is.

Gab I know you like Greece. If someday you choose to visit Ionian Islands , don't miss to visit a small island called "Meganisi" . You can only get there via Lefkada Island. It's a hidden jem , many Greeks don't now there is such an island there.

Welcome to my island Gab!! Klima beach in south Aigina is great especially if you have a car!! Sotos beach café in Agia Marina also attracts many locals (however i am not sure if it is opened now). Moni island is also a great option if you want to swim to crystal clear waters next to deers and peacocks. Pistachios and all the pistachio sweats are a must!!!
It looks lovely Gabe, yea the season just kicking off! Those ferries are a nightmare and I speak Greek! On my last trip I boarded in Mykonos headed for Naxos, ended up in Piraeus!!!
I did the same trip from Piraeus to Aegina in January 2020 before the pandemic hit Europe. Thanks, this brings back memories. Btw, the pistachios they sell at the harbor are really good.
Spent a week on aegina in 1979 followed by 3 months in rethimnon on the island of Crete,great times

I arrived in Athens yesterday. I was shocked to hear so many American all accents around me -- can't blame them, if I was locked away from Europe for 1.5yrs, I'd be back as soon as it's open.
I try to avoid American accents when I travel to Europe. Sometimes I act as if I don't recognize them. LOL
Greece has fantastic weather, very luxurious and extremely important passport like United Arab Emirates, Denmark, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, many luxurious 4 star and 5 star resorts and hotels in the islands and mainland of Greece. I cannot differentiate life among Portugal, Spain, Southern France, Northern Italy, Greece cities and islands.
