amazing game, it has something special. even after years of playing it, i keep coming back for some adventure from time to time. the sound design is great and this games reward exploration a lot, its a true ode to adventure.
"Adrift on an Ocean of Sand" sounds really, really similar to "Promontory" from "The Last of the Mohicans". Almost identical, in fact...at least at the beginning. Great soundtrack; thanks for uploading!
definitely lawsuit similar. i like it though. there are quite a few other ripped off melodies throughout this soundtrack. while it might not be 'fair', i love hearing all those great melodies together.
Cool history on that song. The original song Promontory is based off is called "The Gael" by Dougie MacLean . It was released in 1990 and was featured in the Last of the Mohicans in 1992. One of my favorite songs to play on my pipes.
@@ConciseDharmata Lots of story. No quest line because that's not the point. The quest is to leave the Exiled Lands, if you want. Beyond that, it's about surviving.
i agree its a master piece and its amazing how you need to explore. Nothing is given to you, you have to earn evrything and its an ode to adventure. I love this game man.
Yeah, like a slightly modified theme. Maybe they wanted hard to use the original one but couldn't for copyright issues, etc? At any rate, it makes for a great homage to Mr Poledouris.
Who wrote the music for this ? It's F'in epic. So close to BP's original soundtrack it's scary. The only thing I hate is it gets soooooo close but you're never gonna hear that "Conan the destroyer" theme you so long for.
if only the game was as amazing as the movie it rips its theme from... if only that movie was as good as the Hyborian Age essa that Howard wrote. to civilization i say Crom! to the hills i spit.
@@Tyra2007Wolfeye Yes, and at the same time, that's why Conan gets clawed across the back, in the cinematic. No armor ! (though he had a big focking sword)
the main theme is a rip off of down periscope, chronicles of narnia, and jurassic park with one other i can't think of all mashed together. i like it. some of the best parts of awesome songs all thrown in together. plus that last of the mohicans bit. and a lot of others.
This is a redone version of the Conan the Barbarian theme, which predates most of the other themes here by at least 10 years. Conan came out in 1982, Jurassic Park was in 1993, Down Periscope was 1996, and Last of the Mohicans was in 1992. Still awesome themes, but Conan is a very unique theme. Think in the soundtrack its called Anvil of Crom.
This aint Conan Exiles soundtrack it’s a straight ripoff of Basil Poledouris’ original Conan the Barbarian orchestral/symphonic soundtrack. Probably did it cause he died a while back already and can’t sue. Gotta be careful when Hollywood and now “game companies” appropriate good and genuine old IPs(intellectual properties). Age of Conan was a far superior and original soundtrack. Age of Conan was a far superior game also cause it didn’t deviate from Robert E Howard’s vision of the Conan Universe. Probably most gamers don’t even know that Conan Exiles comes from the 1980 Conan the Barbarian movie let alone that that comes from the comics which came from the 1920s and 30s stories of Robert E Howard. Kids these days, fucking losers.
You're being too hard on the new guy. I think of it more as an hommage or cover to / of the original. Metal / Rock bands do stuff like this all the time, with more or less taste and artistic (and commercial, no doubt) success. I think Mr. Haugen found quite the astonishing variation of the orginal "Anvil of Crom" motive, actually - personally, I like these kinds of transformations. Another good example IMHO would be the changed tonality of the cover version of Lennon's "Imagine" by A Perfect Circle. Oddly enough, I saw the movie as a youth in the 90ies, but reconnected to the whole Conan stuff through the Exiles game much later - so maybe that's why I don't find the new soundtrack such a sacrilege. But I feel that the original production is "warmer", maybe more analogue sounding, which I like a bit better for listening. For the comparison between the survival game and the MMO, I can't speak, as of now I only know the Exiles game. And lastly, I choose to believe that most gamers know about the whole IP property, at least starting from the 80ies (but may be wrong there).

Idk about masterpiece. It had zero story/main quest line.

Most of the music should be attributed to Age of Conan, also from Funcom. Alas, they forgot a few.

Neither Conan nor his girlfriend is properly dressed for fighting monsters.
hey! dont try to use logic here!
Most monsters from this universe would pierce through, crush, or burn armor anyway. So moving fast is better.
Armor ain't gonna help you against those things, just be faster and don't get hit.
