    The Corr's
    Andrea - lead singer, tin whistle and she always performs bare-footed, youngest sibling
    Caroline - vocals, drummer, next youngest
    Sharon - vocals, Violin, keyboards, eldest daughter
    Jim - Lead guitar, keyboards, oldest member and only son
    3 sisters and a brother. All Irish. Started in 1990 - 2006. Then they took a long break. Started up again in 2015 - present. Mostly influenced by The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, The Carpenters, Simon and Garfunkle, and The Police.

    The Corrs are a family of musicians and singers from Ireland. Immensely talented and musical, multi-instrumental.
    Ireland has a common practise of people coming to the pub and just playing songs together. It’s a very fun way to live. These guys are an example of what that does for a community.

    The prettiest band with angelic voices and a great catalogue of hit songs. My favourite of all is Somebody for Someone, which they performed at this same concert in London.

    The Corrs are an Irish family, and fiddle is essential to Irish music!

    Part of the reason for the vocals working so well together is that they’re sisters and have sung together since kids. So it’s common DNA mixed with years of knowing exactly how each other perform.
    Some vocalists are well known for doing harmonies to their own Melodie’s in order to get a real chord of an instrument happening in their delivery. Sting is such an example.

    Andrea Corr (the lead singer) appears in the movie The Commitments, which is about young Irish players forming a soul band in the late 80s.

      She played Jimmy Rabbit’s eldest sister. (It’s been a while since I watched it, so I hope I’ve got his name right. The manager. She was in some scenes in his house like when the auditions were happening. I think she gives him a grin when they’re listening to some weird performance, and she may have done a little jig with their mum also?)

    In Ireland we call the Violin a Fiddle which is often used to perform Trad music. Great reaction and The Corrs are a very talented Family from Dundalk a Town North from Dublin. 🇮🇪

  • @rogeroran2911
    @rogeroran2911 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Just was looking to see more about them. They’re all siblings. Also as a musician i thought you’d find it interesting. The vocalist plays tin whistle and ukulele. The drummer also plays a bodhran. Irish drum, and a cahon. Central and South American type of drum like instrument. Definitely not your normal instruments you’d find in a band. And yes the violinist has been playing since she was 6.

    They’re album “Talk on corners” was my first introduction to the Corrs and it’s a great album. And admittedly totally had a crush on Andrea (singer) a couple of them and sorry I can’t remember which ones, but they were in the movie “ The Commitments” when they were young. Played the daughters of Colm Meany ( Star Trek fame) 👍🏻

  • @vickystanley8853
    @vickystanley8853 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    To them, it's a fiddle! Having a fiddle in their band is as natural as breathing & singing because they're Irish.
    I love it best when they
    perform traditional music, which they do often & fantastically.
    Thanks for reacting to them.
    Also, they play a tin whistle & the drummer sometimes plays a bodhran which is struck with a tipper..all
    traditional Celtic instruments, but they play them in their pop
    style songs anyway.

  • @raycewilliams3300
    @raycewilliams3300 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    To your point....violin adds so much to their music. There, for whatever reason, is very little violin in "modern" mainstream music. It's of course more common in the Country & Western genre. I love it when violins and flutes are added to a song.
