Thanks again for the invite, it was great to hang out and chat about LTE 5000s! Love these little machines, they are an absolutely great choice for DOS gaming!
what about the IBM Thinkpad 365XD or 380ED, Toshiba Satellite Pro 4xx, Gateway Solo 2100/2200/2300, Dell Latitude XPi and LM and CP, and any other P1/MMX laptop, avoid DSTN like the plague, go with anything with ESS/Crystal sound and a TFT LCD
I tend to favor the Toshiva Pentium/Pentium II -CDT models (Tecra, Satellite/Pro models). they have good screens (not 640x480, they're more 1024x768) and have easily accessible drive bays, OPL3 chips (for SB Pro compatibility) and a CT655xx windows accelerator for Win 3.x performance. :)
HAHA, sorry about that!! I actually tend to buy them, fix them up and distribute them a bit to members of the retro community! But ultimately, I'll be holding onto a few :)
I got a mint Toshiba Satellite 230CX with an upgrade for 64MB of RAM and 6GB HDD. It has an YAMAHA OPL3 SB Pro compatible, plays MS DOS games and Windows 95/98 games no problem with an upgraded memory. SEGA PC games, GTA, RoadRash, NFS 1 and 2, AofE, Rampage, all great and smooth. The only issue I’m having is to get sound fx and music from MS DOS games. They only have sound fx at first time I play them but after that I get nothing… music simply nothing at all although games like DOOM , DNkm3D or Woff3D recognize the SB Pro with correct sound config. I’m using abandonware or freeware and that might not help as well… Anyway great review!
Hi - awesome video! I just got my LTE 5280 for DOS gaming and love it! I noticed in the video that you were playing Doom full-screen...how did you do that? I always get a black bar around the screen. Thanks and looking forward to future videos!
The LTE5000 has a 640x480 screen. Perfect for dos games. The newer models with 800x600 displays will show a black border as these older laptops had very primitive scaling.
@@RetroGameCouch exactly right. With the right display drivers in a DOS window under Windows 3.1 (and perhaps Win95), you can use FN+t to scale text to fill the gap, but that's it sadly, can't scale graphics. The LTE 5000 has a 640x480 and pretty much other models have 800x600 (except the LTE 5380 which has a 1024x768)
I have a mint condition and working SAMSUNG pc/laptop S5000..,complete with original bag and two manuals books. Anyone knows if ther is a market for these vintage 80's pc/laptop? Please let me know.

Very cool stuff thanks for the post 😊😊

Such a lovely video. So sad not much news. Awesome laptop, keep going!
Another great video! Can not believe Chris is hoarding all those great laptops! 😁

Maybe that works for you, I rebuild a battery for a compaq PIII using cells from other laptops and it is working fine.
Would like to try a secondhand one to do some oldschool fasttracker 2 work :) .
I'm glad to see your LTE 5000 slowly coming together. Would you mind if I advertise the CMOS battery link here?
Send me the link, and I'll add it to description.
Wow, this does look like a great machine!
Cool laptop. I tried to look for one for an while. But the prices are insane!
Ya, they can be pretty high sadly :( I did get a parts one the other day for $20, but it needed some work!!
@@RetroTechChris lucky
Would be interesting to see a desktop PC build as well, with Win95c or perhaps Win98SE. Always fun to watch your videos though :)
The more i think about it... It would be great to see a build like that, perhaps with links to where to get the hardware and such
Could be a cool video!

What is your SET BLASTER line in autoexec.bat?
Sadly I never find one for sale... I guess that dude has all of them
He bought all of them. 😂
Boy, that‘s quite a big Gameboy you have there…

@@RetroGameCouch "I see" said the blind man! Thank you, now I get it! Again, awesome video!
You can press Fn+T to stretch the image to fill the entire screen.
However it has very primitive scaling but for DOS games it isn´t too bad actually.
That laptop is so boss
I agree!!
lekkere nostalgie trip!
hello! Have you found a cd rom drive for it? Do you know if a cdrom drive from a Compaq Armada 7000 series will work in this?
I need this in my life 🤩

True! As long as you have the caddy, should be able to use a 44 pin 2.5" IDE drive.
