I just remembered why I liked this song so much; it was her in the video when I first heard it and I still feel the same way and I'm 50 now ... crazy; if they ever play near me again I'm going no matter what and doing a meet and greet.
A vastly underrated band, much better than their single hit would indicate. I highly recommend you listen to the rest of their music, you will be pleasantly surprised 😊
This song I first heard in Feb. 1986 in San Francisco, CA and has not left my brain after so many decades. David Gilmour knows how amazing they are - that's why he asked him for help for his vocal arrangements for their 1990 Pink Floyd album.
Two out of three ain't bad! What a pleasant surprise to find this 2016 Dream Academy performance in 2022. Would be great to see them release an album of new songs in the 2020s.
Always loved this song from listening to it getting ready to go out on the town as a young buck and of course living in a Northern Town was the icing on the cake. Not many songs celebrate our existence lol
Wonderful to see them perform in this time, music which I so loved at the time it first came out. It moved me deeply then, and still does now. And Kate St. John is as absolutely adorable and fascinating as a musician now as she was then. Sitting here in Paris all choked up...across the time and space...of decades and continents...
The sound quality in the video leaves a bit to be desired (and I am not slamming the photographer over it...it could very well have been inevitable through no fault of the photographer) , but wow....even through that one can hear the haunting nature of the music, and the vocals are still stirring! Thank you, Kournick, for sharing this!
@@artfuldodger1286 Gilbert Gabriel was the black keyboard player. He wasn't present for this performance. The keyboard player in this performance was Maxwell Cooke
Still one of my favorite songs of all time. Always have this and Sugarland/little big town‘s live cover at CMA’s in any playlist. Love it! 80’s did rule!
Well, they were three of the most astounding physical specimens ever playing in a band together back in the day, as well as being talented and imaginative musicians. But yes, time has been kind to them.
Cheers to that! Same here... Music became Demonic! You want to look for Artist like this? Look gor the ones that didn't become Big! Carly Simmons, UB40. and many more... They didn't take the baits!
I still have my original album and loved this song since it's release, have the CD now and this song and "The Love Parade" are still in my regular listening rotation...!
He was working with Peter Gabriel, and then writing and producing mostly in Poland and England. No idea why he wasn't at this gig--voices are unbalanced with out him or his keyboard
gilbertgabrielmusic.com/ The website hasn't been updated for 3.5 years but it says "Gilbert is currently writing and recording a fourth Dream Academy album, as well finishing a solo project with Kroke’s Tomasz Kurkurba (Peter Gabriel/ Nigel Kennedy collaborator)."
I used to think the line: "All the work shut down" was "All the world shook down" and in relation to the previous line about Kennedy, The Beatles and winter 1963. I think I prefer my interpretation and treasured memory from early '85 -so distant yet so alive.
February of 2022 and this is still some of the best music humanity has ever produced.
Absolutely
Agreed.. musically it was part of the peak
I can totally agree with you
Lol
This song has not aged at all. Still sounds fresh and new. Timeless.
Agree ...❤❤
Am I the only one who starts to almost cry at the chorus?
Kate St John was a British babe back in the day, and she still looks pretty dang good for pushing 60s
I just remembered why I liked this song so much; it was her in the video when I first heard it and I still feel the same way and I'm 50 now ... crazy; if they ever play near me again I'm going no matter what and doing a meet and greet.
yep, stunning.
Um, no.... well, maybe in Britain 😅😅😅
Absolutely.
The music world is forever better because of this song! Thank you Dream Academy.
A vastly underrated band, much better than their single hit would indicate. I highly recommend you listen to the rest of their music, you will be pleasantly surprised 😊
They are the most under appreciated musical act in the history of music.

@@bryantrulen7570 I saw them live twice, and I feel privileged to have done. You are entirely correct in your summation.
Kate still looking great! She's a keeper.
Completely agree!!!!
@@martok2112 Beat me too it.
Love this song. Freshman year will never come again but at least there is this.

Who else is 80's surfing? Coming to you from July 2020
SPAM
I remember I was younger than these guys, they are old now. So am I. Such a nostalgic sound even more than before.
I never stopped and as I DJ’d for the 2000’s, the college crowd were just as into this as us Gen Xers.
Me!!👍🏼🇬🇧 can't get over Kate's beauty and talent... she's 61 and hasn't aged much... like a good red wine!💕🎵🎹

Great to see an english horn on a pop stage. Lovely performance.
I missed that. Where was it?
This is still Great and they still bring it. Kate is still smoking hot.
Truly truly

Wow they aged well....
Great performance....
Apparently the black fellow transformed himself into a young white keyboardist.

So nice to look up an 80's band and they still don't look like they need a walker....damn Kate is still hot at 58!
Yep. The 80s were not kind to many. I am so happy the Dream Academy survived a turbulent decade in pop music, and are thriving it appears.
I found this band through indescribable night by Kate. OMG, this song is like a breeze from my old memory.
they sound fantastic i always loved this song
Forever one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands.
Still one of my favorite songs of all time. Always have this and Sugarland/little big town‘s live cover at CMA’s in any playlist. Love it! 80’s did rule!
Dream Academy live! So good!!!
I ❤ the 80's!! I never thought that I would still be listening to 80's music, but most of the music was great.
That is Wonderful!
Sounds so good with the rich tones they've developed over the years..
Beautiful!
Of the songs from the 80s that I count among my guilty pleasures, this one is vying for the top slot.
From my era, such great music came from the UK then. Kate St. John, what can be said but amazing 👍
Manchester gave us the Smiths, James and dream Academy and 1985 was an amazing year. Something must’ve been in the water.
I remember watching dream Academy on American Bandstand. Wow.
they look great for 2 people on the cusp of their 60s!
Well, they were three of the most astounding physical specimens ever playing in a band together back in the day, as well as being talented and imaginative musicians. But yes, time has been kind to them.
Kate is 62, born 1957
@@smitbar11 Still the sexiest oboe player in rock music!
we should be so lucky
How did I miss this? I LOVE this band.
I know! I’m wondering the same thing. Was this Japanese television?
Y.T life in a northern town .extended version..Drummer is out of this world...and I'm not a fan of drummers.

They sound great... glad to see they are still around...
Greatest song ever
I bought this album (CD) form a small shop in Rota, Spain in 1987, every song is beautiful.
Dang got some age on him now but still sounds the same as the 80s
He is still very good looking even with age
Love The Dream Academy. ...Awesome. ..takes me back to 1985.
Happily married man, here, but damn... Kate St. John is still a serious babe.
Susanna Hoffs comes first 😀
@@robh1908 Susanna was a babe, but I love demure blondes who play English Horns

Sounds exactly how they've done it back in the 80's.
Kate is beautiful, in a English kinda way.
tem musicas lindas, poderiam estar fazendo shows, desperdicio de vida
We need the kettle drums :))

Should have given Kate a 5 minute solo spotlight with that beautiful _Cor Anglais_ !!!
Group of my youth....
I like this song, very nice
LONG LONG TIME, KATE GOOD VERSION
