John Paul wants Craig to come out so that they can be together properly, but Craig refuses and maintains that he isn't gay. John Paul storms off and is later told by Spike to "move on". Later, Craig sends John Paul an apologetic text. The boys reconcile at The Dog, but their affection towards eachother does not go un-noticed by Spike.
They'll never be fully over each other. No matter what happens they always find their way back to each other.
Spike was far more patient, chill and tolerant than he had to be about this mess. Nice guy.

i don’t think craig is bisexual honestly, i think he really is gay but just can’t admit it to himself. it’s why his feelings for john paul are so much more intense than anything else he’s ever felt before, and why once he’s with john paul he isn’t sexually interested in sarah the way he was before. john paul made him realize what real love (and, by extension, real sexual attraction) felt like, but that was too overwhelming for him and he had to repress it
Hasn't JP ever heard of bi-sexuality? It's obvious his feelings towards JP are genuine and unique. You can't just stick a label on it.
Doesn't matter what show it is, Chasing Cars always makes any scene better. I think every show on TV has used that song at least once.
I got hooked to the song through Greys anatomy and I've heard it in at least 10 different shows since

It is funny that they only mention bisexuality like one in reference to Craig, because if anything I think he's bi with a preference towards woman, or he could be any of the other sexualities (pansexual, demisexual, etc), but he's definitely not straight. There's nothing wrong with Craig not wanting to label himself as gay if he truly feels he's not, but the problem is that he doesn't want anyone thinking he's gay because he ultimately thinks there's something wrong with being gay.
I love JP's little temper tantrums when he gets riled; he's so passionate about his beliefs. Also, I love how Craig stares at him at 2:03 before he tells him "I'm not gay."
I think by this point, Craig had definitely become a lot more gentle, a lot more considerate, a lot more tender. He tells JP it's up to him what they do next; that says to me that he's becoming less selfish.
And Spike with his random, caring advice; rock on, man, we love you!
Guy Burnet himself has said that he does not consider Craig to be gay OR bisexual. Craig has simply fallen in love with his best mate, it's an obsession almost, but he still has the love for the ladies in his life.

Having rewatched the episode i think the card is definately for JP. When Spike talks to Craig and asks if that's who the card is for, he asks because having spoken to both of them he knows they have fallen out.
Then when JP comes to the pub when Craig is working, the first thing Craig does is apologise. He's already sent a text and i think the card is another way of saying it.
BTW. love Spike in this episode. Well...as much as i can love Spike anyway.

I can't believe I once said I didn't like british accent. It's a bit difficult to understand sometimes for not native speakers, but it sounds great.
so from these comments, i gather that the background music is CHASING CARS. I never knew this obviously cuz i wasn't exposed to hearing Western music. watever, wen i first heard it, it MADE ME CRY. SERIOUSLY. & THAT TOO IT BLENDED SO WELL WITH THE SITUATION. Craig is changing. softening towards Jp, more romantic, more mellowed down & accepting & loving Jp. this is the most IDEAL COUPLE I HAVE EVER SEEN ON SCREEN.

At first I was indignant at Craig's gratuitously cruel treatment of John Paul in the first scene. Then I understood that he's only lashing out like that because of how unhappy he is about feeling trapped in his relationship with Sarah and her joining him in Dublin rather than John Paul. Not that that absolves him of his responsibility for being in that position, but it made his dickishness in that conversation make more sense.
"It's up to you" translation: I'm not dumping Sarah, if that's what you're asking.
Totally agree, what i meant was they always seem to say he must be gay just because he likes JP.Have put in other episodes that it's definitely a soul mate love thing that you can't stick a label on it.
Either way love them both especially Craig. HOT!

Craig is bisexual or at least bi-curious. He did love Sarah and at a point in time was in love with her. But you can tell that as they hold each other that it's only John Paul that Craig's in love with. I do think that Craig has issues with people thinking he's gay and sticking a label on him. He saw how people turned on John Paul when he came out. Though I do think Craig would act the same way if John Paul was female. Because being with Sarah had people looking at him differently and he did love her. From what I have seen of Craig he's always been a bit selfish and wanting his cake and eating it too.
I do not think he is gay or bi. I believe that he is bi but sexually attracted to jhon Paul he could just be an acveption that happens sometimes

I think he says 'Thats who the cards for innit'. Although i'm not sure what he means by that, what card is he on about? Must mean JP though cos that's who Spike started talking about...beats me anyway.
Craig's sexuality will always be a mystery to me. In a way I get why he says he's not gay, I mean, he doesn't even feel remotely attracted to any other MEN apart from John Paul, but he still harbours feelings for girls. That's understandable so I go with that he's JP-sexual. But he's still sleeping around with a guy, so is he gay? Hmm.. :S
There are some good things in this episode but I feel like it needs more writing. It's a bit underwritten and the scenes are kind of frustrating because the characters kind of stay stuck where they've been all along rather than asking the next obvious questions based on everything they know about each other. If Craig's acknowledging that he's hurting John Paul by refusing to be public about their relationship, the next logical topic is why he feels ashamed about other people knowing. If John Paul feels trapped in his relationship with Craig, they should actually confront how Craig is possessive and emotionally abusive towards him, and why John Paul has such low self-esteem.
Then again, they are only 18-19, haha.
Well, Frankie, Craig's mom, later says that Craig is gay. However, you're right, Craig never says so himself, but I believe that we're supposed to assume that Craig is gay. He could possibly stll be bisexual. I wish they would confirm his sexuality so that we're sure. But I guess it doesn't matter. He's still in love with JP. :)
Oh yeah, never noticed that before, lol. Maybe it was for JP then, coz he did have some making up to do at that point. He definately made it up to him the following day anyway, haha.
I once had a summer romance with a fast friend that I met at school. It was beautiful in my eyes but after the one time tryst it was not reciprocated. It ruined the friendship. The stress and weight of the timing made the friendship irrevocably damaged. Feelings were hurt and blame was placed. More importantly it made us both act so immature that we didn’t even recognize ourselves. This was a one sided affair or fantasy if you will. The older person, which was I were the more immature and less experienced of the two. The younger was 5 years less in age but 21 and over sexed. I wanted a friends with benefits relationship but secretly was in love. The other person gave into to lust but instantly regretted it. In fact it was an immediate about face, walk of shame, about last night moment. I was not ready for it. Neither was he.
We both tried to act civil but immaturity and jealousy reared its ugly head. We both embarrassed each other publicly and almost came to blows. I call it “queening out” when two gays have a fight that clearly is a lover’s or ex lover’s quarrel. It was the biggest regret of my life, even 24 years later. The other guy is married with kids and I’m single, lonely and damaged. Why can’t I get over this?
I often self reflect on that dalliance. He accused me of making him feel like I had taken advantage of him when this was clearly a one night stand on a two way street. That’s the biggest shame I could be apart of even though we were both consenting adults. Call it buyer’s remorse.
The second chance encounter happened 2 years later in a chance meeting. A little resentment mixed with reminiscing and a taste for adventure led to an online virtual date pre Zoom & Skype (yahoo cam I believe). A one sided peep show that ended with a happy ending. There were other conversations; a half dozen to be exact but nothing else had occurred. We both went our separate ways.
His AIM chat is still linked to his cellphone. I’m not saying I will reach out and touch but my wild imagination tends to wander. I guess I’ll just have this story to spill in a tell all book someday.

Can't believe this all happened 11 years ago, god I love Craig and john Paul together, but now am 26 instead of 15 and re-watching this I can now see so much of Craig's Edmontons threw all this with Jp and it started even before jp came out, watching now I just want punch Craig I get he's going threw shit in his head but doing this to Sarah and jp just wasn't fair, I liked spike a little but now I really like him, to me jp and Craig are my ship but spike was out and proud and confident I wish there were more of him and john Paul he never played games or fucked with his head now, Now he should of stayed with spike but the heart wants what' the heart wants, but they be now one other then jp and Craig and the connection and chemistry they have/had oh and never took in how hot spike actually was, he's gorgeous but not as gorgeous as craigie boy ;-))

Craig ISN'T gay, he's still attracted to girls... but he's at least a 1 on the Kinsey Scale. I get that it must be difficult, if he did tell people he was with JP he'd have everyone assume he was totally gay (like JP seems to?), even if he's really mostly not. :/

About Craig's sexuality, please do not fool yourselves people, HE IS GAY. If you happen to fall for a person of your own sex is HOMOsexual, even if it is for only one; you know the definition, don't you? HOMOSEXUAL = having feelings for someone of your own sex. I don't think you would say an heterosexual man being less heterosexual because of falling for only one woman, would you? And talking about being bisexual... that's rubish, even IF you are, that gives you NO autorization to play double-time; if you're serious about a relationship you stay with one or the other, not both. Tell me, would it be just right for JP to have Spike as a boyfriend and play hidding with Craig?, no, it wouldn't.
Don't kid yourself. Sexuality is and always has been fluid. It is people, and society, that ascribe boundaries and rules to it. We come up with names and labels for everything. And it isn't right. The words homo- and hetero-sexual refer to SEX. Not feelings. But ultimately, everyone's sexuality is fluid. You're right that Craig is cheating and that's messed up. What he does to JP and Sarah is messed up. But just because he loves John Paul doesn't make him gay. The same is true of his relationship with Sarah - just because he loves her doesn't make him straight. He fell in love with a girl, and then his best friend, and the representation of his fluid sexuality is one of the more honest things I've ever seen on television.
I wasn't necessarily saying that I'm ascribing a particular identity to Craig's character. But even Guy said in interviews that he and the writers were exploring Craig's sexuality, not his "coming out" as a homosexual. I just have a problem with words like that. We're all "comfortable" self identifying because according to society, that's what people do. We are all forced to "identify" as particular things when the truth is, almost nothing, especially identity, is that simple. In the entire time JP was featured on Hollyoaks, he was only ever truly interested in guys. That is far from the truth when it comes to Craig. His problem was his absolute fear at being labeled "gay." It didn't take that long for him to admit his feelings for John Paul, but it took a very long time for him to admit his feelings to others. And in real life, situations that aren't so dissimilar from this, it'd be nice if people could just admit that labels are not a "catch-all" for everyone. I freely admit that most people either like boys or girls. But there are many people who fall in some sort of range, like Craig, who was with (I think) at least 3 different girls on the show with none of the problems JP exhibited with Hannah.
My point was, however, that sexuality is never set in stone. It simply doesn't work like that. We don't expect people to be that simple, so why should such a crucial aspect of human nature be treated as such? I don't consider Craig gay, just a guy who fell for his best friend. And before that, he loved girls, and after JP, well who knows? It could be either. And people should be more understanding of that.
ceg2058 I didn't think about it from that perspective. I don't mean any harm either. Just that sometimes, it isn't as simple as the line between "gay" and "straight". I just believe that those labels ultimately aren't a catch-all for everyone. We're all part of the spectrum. There's nothing wrong with being gay or straight, and there's nothing wrong with falling outside those parameters. That was my point.
I`m really for that either you`re straight, bi, gay or experimental. But I actually do think Craig is straight, with one exeption: JP
