- This man on a hydrofoil saves a drowning dog. He knows about dogs in water thanks to his two huskies, Foil and Wing. They changed his life, and now they go paddle boarding, skateboarding, and even hydrofoiling together.

wow thats powerful and so true but never really thought of it like that, i have been so blessed to have rescues all my life, i now have Alfie aged 10, a staffie x and Bella the beagle x rescued at three and half from being used for breeding all her young life on an illegal puppy farm, she had never lived in a house, and has now been with me and alfie for a month and as i write this, she is curled up asleep on my lap,
Those were such words of wisdom. If everyone lived like that with their pets. They would both have fuller lives.
Love lasts, even when the source is no more.
dogs and other pets go to Heaven they are eternal as we are the only difference is they are without sin and have no need to repent and receive the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour.

I won't say irresponsible. This may not have been the first time he has done this with his dog and thought it was safe. But, something I do think he may not have been wise about is the life vest for his dog. If you are taking your dog or cat out on open water, get them a vest.

the rescuer takes his dog into calmer waters. This was ocean and strong surf. I hope that dog got a new loving family.
People see videos on social media about cool animals having fun with their owners in the ocean and think they can do the same without paying attention to the animal safety, glad this dog found someone to help him.
Truth
Not just safety, but as Vasco said, also what the animal's want and needs are. Not all animals are made for some of the adventures we see and we should understand this as we plot out their adventures and lifestyles.
This was my thought too. These videos are everywhere, often made by people who want the money and attention that comes with clicks. But it can cross the line into animal abuse. It's not necessary to take your pets on crazy adventures. They can have very happy lives without our putting them in those kinds of danger.

I rescued a puppy who somehow got onto Cross Bronx Expressway at rush hour, had her for 12 years, such a good doggie, she was a piece of my heart ❤

It's also true for cats and any other pets, they all deserve a happy, fulfilled life with all their needs taken care of. It's a commitment you as their owner have to make, or better not get pets at all.

At least they were people who enjoyed taking their dog out on adventures, I bet the dog loved it, most dogs are great swimmers. Many dogs are neglected and left alone, without walks even, I bet this dog has a great life with good owners

Any dog owner can tell by how the dog swam how exhausted it was. When dogs breath like it was on the guys back, they`re not only scared but completely out of breath. Just a minute longer out there and it would have drowned. This guy saved that dogs life.
Bravo! Thank you for the rescue! I read a story awhile back (I believe it was Readers Digest) about dogs and their short stay with us, it made perfect sense.
“Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog’s owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.
I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn’t do anything for Belker and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.”
As they made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told the vet that they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.
The next day, the vet felt the familiar catch in his throat as Belker‘s family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that the vet wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The little boy seemed to accept Belker’s transition without any difficulty or confusion. They all sat together for a while after Belker’s Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that dogs’ lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, “I know why.”
Startled, they all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned the vet. He had never heard a more comforting explanation. He says that it changed the way he will try and live.
“People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life - like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right? Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay for as long as we do.” 🐾♥️🐾

Number one, any dog, small or large, on water should have a pet flotation device (PFD) If a dog is panicking you sometimes can not pull it up but you can always reach for the handle on the back.
It is incredibly cruel to think that it is "cute" to take a dog past the surf.. thank you for actually providing *realism* to the "cute" side of such stories!
Absolute hero. I saw a dog almost drown by the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco after his ball got caught in the current, but I knew going in was almost certainly fatal. We all called for him and, thank goodness, he got back to shore.

Wow he saved that poor frightened dog. Glad he was there at the right time. I always place a life jacket on my dog, even if we’re on the calm waters of the lake. I get tired when I swim so I assume my older dog would too. Don’t want to lose him. I agree, while they’re here for short period of time, we are their entire life. I spoil my dog and have fun with him. ❤🐕

Well i got my dog when i was a 22 year old kid and now i'm a 41 year old man, we do only have them for part of our lives, but sometimes it's a big important part that will shape you if you let it. My dog is far more than a dog he's my everything, as that time draws nearer i can only think back and be grateful for the life we have had together.

I had a GSD who happily jumped into relatively big breaking waves. She had no fear and no problem staying afloat. I saw her swim for two-tre hundred meter once, dog are much more able in water than what we give them credit for
