Yes, kinda. It could go down though from a bad hit and depending on type of car. You want all notches and dimples to be on the top of the frame, so it crushes at that notch and pulls frame upwards.
Gonna need a lot of work to keep the back from plowing down. For sure prebend the back of that car up. and maybe even remove back bumper. Depends on your rules.
I was told to knotch my frame on my 94 Honda Civic at 2inches from the back bumper and then 6inches from the 2inch knotch is this gonna mess my car up and I'm tucking the trunk as well and dipping it at least 2inches like a v
I usually do a double notch similar to this on my Fords since they are known to plow easy, not sure if that is needed for a honda. If you go with a double notch setup, then you want your notches closest to bumper to be the bigger notch and a smaller notch farther away so the bumper will roll inwards first before the trunk packs in.
what would be the best for 80s&up Chevy Caprice wagons??..do you have a design in 3D where the body is on the frame so we can see how they both fold together??
Im runnin an 85 crownvic ltd one week from tommorow damn near done with it had a bad experiance with my first demo car (caprice) becoming a plow im a chevy guy this is my first time runnin a ford which notch set up do you reccomend
The chevy caprice has one of the worst trunks for fullsize cars that are known to drop down fast. The fords usually try to go up on their own unless you get a bad hit. I would do a single notch for 80s fords.
Ok done that tnite beat bumper shocks in and welded them after rotating them upwards. Tilted frame replaced body mounts with solid one and 7/8 threaded rod all the guys around here that tilt frames run the ass end of the car really low should i do that or raise it up wher.e it is somewhat level with front? Thanks for the reply man cant ask no one questions around here they will tell u stuff that will screw u over
The first car I ran was a 04 Ford Taurus in a stock class demo with no notching, and it bent at factory holes just behind the bumper shock tubes. since then I've ran 2 more Taurus (00 and 03) and they did the same thing.
I actually determine the measurement based on how high I want the back bumper to roll up into the trunk before the rest of the frame bends. Keeping the notch closer to the humps allows a higher roll of bumper upwards. keeping it closer to the bumper for a notch gives a small roll. This can also be determined based on how long the trunk is or how high the trunk side walls are. I usually measure mine so the back bumper folds in right underneath the trunk lid. If any of this makes sense lol
the first time your bumper hits the dirt or the wheel well frame crease into the tires you will know prebending and notching is the only way top go I asked the tech of demo if it was alright to cut frame and he laughed at me never asked again although some demos do not allow prebending and or notching weird beard good video giving those keyboard demo rookies a heads up usually doesnt help tho they always overlook one thing or another 110 % or nothing
I drilled holes in the bumpershocks, pushed them in and put a few welds on them to stop them from rotating. That way the beams are connected.
if u cut from the bottom of the fram will it still roll up good

Love the 3D tutorial. Very helpful. Would love to see more of these.

If you don't run bumper shocks you can notch it a lot further back

I'm just going to use a hammer to make the notches

80s Caprice need a lot of help to bend up, those things blow fast and easy in the back.
ok thanks!!whats ur Fb???

Very nice tutorial.

yea yea I am wayyyy behind ! LOL But , at what measurements are the notches from the bumper ?

Is this for midsize or fullsize
The frames represented in this video are full frame cars. But the idea can be applied to compacts as well, just with smaller cuts and more prebending.
3d was great, any tips for a 80's ford truck?
I've never messed with trucks, so your on your own for that one sorry.
What style of notch would you suggest to do on my 81 Buick Electra wagon running in a stock class?
+Travis Henderson A single notch with prebent roof and rear side windows. Dimples work better on fords, notch is safer choice for a stock class buick.
When you cut the notch what seems to be the best space on top to make the V? Is that about an inch or more?
Depends on what car, everyone is different depends how much you need it to bend how fast and how strong car is, plus build rules and competition.
still love your videos and keep it up
11:40 And the angle of the hit.
I thought your animations were great. Some of us need it simple (guilty as charged lol).
What program is this

and love the 3d video tho
this is sweet
Tate your better off not commenting what you said is stupid. The point is to weaken the frame to make it bend and pack to make it stronger
Nice I like that 3d you should make vid of leafing cars /
hummer plats and short shocking
