This was good, but the most beautiful version of this song is her sitting in a studio with her two friends singing this over acoustic guitar and piano. It was just more powerful in it's simplest form. I was stunned and cried for about 10 minutes when she finished. I'm not a "Swiftie", but this song right here, is fricken powerful!!! Somehow she was able to capture the longing, sadness, anger, loneliness and despair of going through a divorce. If don't know how she did it, but she did it. Beautiful song. I love it.
The song is about the one thing that might have made her the saddest and the angriest in her entire life. It is written to the boss of the record label she was signed to, the guy who’s sold her masters (her music that SHE has created since she was a little kid) to the person who’s tried to end her career by sabotaging her several times. She made that record label something, she was the first artist signed. They also knew each other since Taylor was a teenager. It is betrayal in its worst form. (I also love that the goal was to end her career, but the process of her reclaiming her old music by rerecording made her even bigger - the biggest, even.)
