- A Non Destructive Test (NDT) is a way of testing a structural element without causing any destruction, there are two types of tests,
1) Destructive Test
2) Non Destructive Test

Destructive Test is done before casting concrete or construction material onto the site, for example Compression Test of Concrete Cubes, i have explained in detail how to operate compression testing machine in my one of the videos, the link for that video is • Demonstration of Compr...
Non Destructive Test is a test performed on the structure without causing any harm to the structure. One of the primary method is Rebound Hammer Test.
Rebound hammer is a instrument which gives us the relative compressive strength of concrete based on the hardness of its exposed surface. It was invented by Swiss Engineer Ernst Schmidt, it is also known as Schmidt's Hammer or Swiss Hammer.
IS:13311 (Part 2)-1992, BS 6089-81 explains the standard rebound hammer test procedure.
Precautions to be followed while conducting Rebound Hammer Test:
1) The surface should be smooth, clean and dry.
2) Rough surface should be made smooth by grinding stone
3) The point of impact of hammer should be atleast 20mm away from the edge or sharp discontinuity
I am thankful to my colleague Miss. Swaroopa Aptekar for shooting this video and special thanks to my Institute KLS's Shri Vasantrao Potdar Polytechnic for allowing me to carry out Rebound Hammer Test

The perfect video that i want to see about rebound hammer test
Thanks a lot
Thank you so much for the compliment, we are happy this video helped you, keep supporting and sharing
You prolly dont give a damn but does anybody know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account?
I was dumb lost the account password. I would love any help you can give me
@Decker Emerson instablaster =)
@Bodie Ashton Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now.
I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
@Bodie Ashton It did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thank you so much you saved my account !
Finally someone who speak english, good explanation
As usual, one of the best Demo . appreciate your time sir
Thank you so much for appreciating the video, stay tuned for more lab experiments
dear, you have explained it way better than anyone, thank you :)
Thank you so much Zain, these kind of words motivates me to do more videos :)
It's an essential video for civil engineering students

Good explanation sir...Tq
You're most welcome, keep watching
Thanks for your video, and they can use the result of mean compressive strength from Schmidt to design the existing structure?
Well explained sir 🙏🏼

Thank you so much Amit, help us to reach more audience by sharing and supporting
Thanks boss 👍 nice explanation
Always welcome
Well done Abhijeet
Thank you so much sir
Sir vertically upward or downward kr liye Kya correction use karte hai please explain with example ?
Can it be useful for testing the comparatively low strength lining ??
Nicely shown
Thank you, more practical videos will be coming up, stay tuned
Super sir ......thanks
Thank you so much for watching, we are happy this video was helpful for you, keep watching
Sir , dispersion reading on RHS ie 4.5 ,6 , 6.5 and so on for which purpose.
Thank You.... Sir
We are glad that this video was useful to you, stay tuned for more videos
Thanks to this video sir
We are glad this video has helped you, stay tuned for more videos
Good. keep it up.
Thanks, will try my best
Nice explanation
Thank you sushil
if u test horizontal, you can found directelly the result of vertical above and below
How to determine the achieved structural strength is adequate or not? which code practice we need to follow? As per the code practice what is the statement is there to compare the concrete is achieve the required strength or not?
Super
Super sir ❤️❤️
Thank you so much, keep watching and sharing
Excellent sir tq 👍
So nice of you, all the best

@@structuralanalysisanddesign can you also do how to get compressive strength using pulse velocity from ultrasonic pulse velocity test ?
One question - When you do rebound on the column you have the "plastered layer" which is surely less than the mass concret. So the rebound reading is not correct on the mass concrete. How you determine this real strength
Thnks Sir
Welcome, all the best
sir ji plz btaao hamari building 7th floor ki aur hum 1st par rehte h to kya 10 fit ka huge fish tank ba sakta hu ? jis ka total weight water stand glass ke sath kuch 4 ton tak ja rha h to kya yeh safe h ? koi risk to nahi pl z say
Number of reading or test should be 16 in 1'*1' area (away from edge). And eliminate upper and lower 3 reading.
what is the acceptance criteria
Nice
Thanks
I've got a manual for this test and it says not to calibrate using curves on the hammer. It says to use the central calibration chart. Why so?
Sir please upload videos on the operation of Ghat tracer .
I will try to come up with Ghat Tracer
Sir if rebound hammer is new then also do mandatory on cube test
Sir i need calibration work sheet of rebound hammer...can u help me?
How can it be calibrated ?
Thanks you sir
Welcome Subash, stay tuned for more videos
@@structuralanalysisanddesign surely sir
Bro, I need ASTM 805 rebound number chart
Nice and Important Information+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Thanks and welcome
Nice video bro
Thank you, keep supporting
Sir make a video on ultrasonic pulse velocity test
ya i will try to make on it
Informative.ifcallibiration is not proper.should it be sent to the manufacturer or we can do it.
Thank you,
Its better to send manufacturer and get calibrated
What is the ideal range?? how we can interpret our building is strong or weak?
By testing of NDT and DT tests.
Hi, Predicting compressive strength using rebound Hammer is right method? Or we can use only for the surface hardness.
Core cutter test will best to determine compressive strength
SIR IT SHALL NOT BE ON SAME POINT IT HAS DONE AT DIFFERENT POINT @20MM SPACING
Dear, It is only a practical demonstration to learn.
Sir aisa hi video ek ultra Sonic Plus velocity pr b bna do plz
Jaroor try karunga
I love u... Sir... I need guidance to excel... A site engineer and open my own firm...
Thank you for your love, keep hardworking and you will achieve success
Boss ye app ne horizontal test kia? To graph kese select krenge K teeno me se konsa consider krna hai
Aap dhyan se dekhiye video mai maine kaha hai kaun si line dekhni hai graph mai, graph mai indication hai horizontal and vertical
Aree boss tum aatcha dekha nahi Hain Kya? Graph me konsa Lena Hain aatcha bola Hain video me.
What is the cost of this hammer ?
Is it necessary to take the 6 readings on the same point .can we take the 6 readings on different 6 Points
Its to be taken at 6 different points
Thanks for Guidence
Q. how we calibrate if the rebound hammer is not showing correct result ?
If you want to check whether rebound is giving correct answer or no just do rebound hammer test on on a standard concrete block and note down the value and than same cube you test in compression testing machine and compare the values, if you getting different value with rebound hammer just consult the technician who is allowed to check the rebound hammer
Here is a link how to operate digital compression testing machine th-cam.com/video/QR7ttm5tr4o/w-d-xo.html
if there is nigligible difference between both result then what should we do ? Do we requried to calibrate it or not ?
Can we calibrate an instrument without a technician??
If it is negligible no need to calibrate, if the results vary too much than calibration is needed, 10% variation can be accepted
No, it is strictly advised to calibrate the instrument with the certified technician only
How much price rebound hammer
just contact with vendor, price varies with company, google for more information
I want the info of the graph
Graph already shown in video Tanweer
@@structuralanalysisanddesign nh graphical prove how this graph done
the value equivalent to 26 is 21, not 18
Hlo sir
its not calibrated
26 is poor concrete probably due to plaster giving false reading
Sir vertically upward or downward kr liye Kya correction use karte hai please explain with example ?
The chart which will be there on rebound hammer is having 3 curves, it is explained in detail in video please go through video completely
