I love these videos I call "desgn as you go". I think it helps us struggling "designers" develop the creative mind needed to work with succulents. This method of "design as you go" is not an option with standard garden plants where you must have a plan or layout already in mind before you start planting.

This rabbit hole video made me lol so hard 🤣. It is a visual representation of the packing, cleaning and dismantling furniture rabbit hole I was in today. 1 simple project turned into 3 hours worth of work and about 20 messes along the way. Why do we do these things to ourselves 🙃 all worth it in the end!

Aw, this wasn't a bad video! Very roundabout-like me-but good. I think that the creva under the crest needs some sprinkling of another rock. It looks very empty compared to the rest of the topdressing in the garden. Also, where did you get the crest? It seems like you've had it forever.

WOW it's almost spooky. When you said you didnt like the competition with the Crest....I'm mumbling to myself...."put in a Barrel". Then when you talked about planting it in the beautiful pot, I'm going "no...too high...just put Barrel in ground". Boy was I surprised to hear Mr.Greg had the same idea. Your under-sea garden is a masterpiece.😘

I feel like the crest gets lost in that spot because the color of the creva underneath and behind it. I think the crest needs a dark, solid color behind or underneath it, like a ribbon of red or black lava rock, or dark plant so you can really see the shape of the crest jump off the dark backdrop.

👏🏻👏🏻 Great decision to highlight the crest in its own vignette! 🤩 May we see a close up of it on WW? I was thinking, maybe a tchotchke or two - Santa on a surfboard, crystals - or would that detract?

I think a pot of Echeveria ‘Hortencia’ would look fabulous in that green pot. Or, a big clump of Aloe castillionae, which I spied in your nursery visits which you never noticed. 😀
I think the crest should be in a nondescript pot, raised up, then the green pot goes back in low, with the above plant suggestions.

Hi Laura, thanks for another great video. Love your garden and all your succulents. Oh btw, at 7:14, I hope the terracotta pot was not too heavy. For heavy objects, please do not attempt to lift it by bending forward and in upright position, otherwise you may hurt your back. ( I was so worried you would hurt yourself). Do bend your knees to squat down to your load, keep it close to your body, and straighten your legs to lift it up. Hope I'm not being impolite to share this advice! If yes, please pardon my impertinence. :)

The cactus has too much texture when the crest is full of texture. I think if anything goes there it should be something with very large plain leaves. Like a baby blue glow agave. Or a very large simple leaved echeveria if that is an appropriate microclimate for something like that. Whatever it is I think needs to have very large petal like leaves with simple color like green or blue. But as I watch on I also like just the empty space with the crest making a bridge over to the tapestry.

In my opinion what bothers me of the Aloe dorotheae is the bright green pot with the Aeonium crest, not so much the Aloe tbh 🙃 I agree 100% with Greg, boy was that pot tall, even the Ferrocactus pot would be pretty burried like you had the green one, it has a pretty weathered look that I think matches the crest pretty good, much better than the bright shiny new look of the green ceramic 😋Oh my gosh, so much better with the cactus. I love to see all the tinkering that goes on after planting the whole garden. In the end maybe just a little rubble or some shells would be the better choice to let your precious crest shine 😉 That's the snarky designer in me talking 😂
