Fun to actually see Tyler. Been hearing his voice on the modern craftsman podcast for years.

Cedar shingles are an arm and leg right now, but I appreciate the Northeast's dedication to tradition and quality. Can't wait to see the finished project!

Secured then before the recent price increase. We’re always looking at opportunity to pre-order where we can.

Very nice to see all the detail and thought put into your building.
I do have a question though that maybe someone can answer for me. Rockwool is a fibrous insulation. To get the real r value from any fibrous insulation it must be in an air tight area so that no air can move through it and stay 100% dry. This install has the WRB and air barrier on the back side of the product. I see this on a lot of sites from builder smarter than I’ll ever be.

Thankfully I'm not the only one to comment on the white shoes

Not that it’s overkill but alot of older homes didn’t have moisture problems. The house that I grew up in didn’t have any water problems and until we threw some siding over the original shingles wasn’t drafty. The house was built in 1960. So watching these videos is cool and entertaining but dam.

We used to build with 100 year old trees and allow a tone of air to seep out. The stayed strong, and the air leakage dried it out. Now a days, not so much. 😢

Good content. But what’s with the materials stacked so close to the tree. Thought you were saving it

At 12:38 in the video there appears to be a water spot on the concrete floor. Is there a leak in the wall or floor?

We had a big storm the night before this video and water came in from window opening above (window not installed yet). Good thing the Majrex dries in this direction and everything was dry the next day.

I want you to build a house for me in Wisconsin SUPER INSULATED with enough solar to heat and cool the home I doubt it can be done without natural gas

Most of the materials used in this project are comparatively poor at performing the function they were designed for. That's what will be said in the future. For now, this is a great project and I love that the owner is integral to the process. Keep trying - you'll never get there because the goal is always in front of you. Great job - it's always good to see a builder who cares about their craft.
