  • This video contains a reaction and analysis to Dodge's EV marketing. Dodge has announced that it would transition towards making eletric vehicles. I discuss their approach to this. This includes their marketing spiel about eMuscle cars, and their decision to emphasize performance rather than to harrange people or talk down to peope about cars.

They won't make electric cars, they'll make eMuscle? When I heard that, I thought, ooook, so they're making hybrids? Series Hybrid, like a small engine, a built-in generator just there to charge the batteries? The instant torque & stealth of electric, but the convince of gasoline? A Parallel-Hybrid, traditional engine & transmission, with an electric motor, that works independently, for stealth, or to save fuel when needed, or amplify the traditional powertrain, and instantly recover & use the momentum energy that would be lost from braking, then launching out of a corner or from a stop?
No, because later, he said Battery Electric, as in BEV, as in pure electric car, so Dodge is making electric cars. Does the mainstream society & industry still see electric cars as lame & weak?
Didn't the Tesla car company change that? Showing how sexy, fun, powerful, and practical they can be?
So if Dodge wants to avoid the term Electric Car for that then that's silly, and unnecessarily confusing.
    2nd.
"The world's first electric muscle car"?
    No.
First PRODUCTION one, but people have already been making homemade electric cars, including muscle. Look up Zombie222. And defines a Musclecar? Is it just the body & powertrain arrangement? Or, is it a lot of power, for a great price?
If it's the latter, then this includes all power-oriented homemade EVs, the EV West M3 and other strong cars they built, modified EVs, the Formula D electric Camero, and possibly current and future offerings from Tesla, that prioritize performance over luxury.
And finally, the electric Musclecars Dodge will make. Will they have the traditional weight bias of old Muscle & Pony cars? Big battery back where the engine would be? Light rearend for burnouts & drifting. Instead of putting all the batteries in the floor, like Tesla, for the best dynamics? Lotus is doing the same, instead of the floor or low & middle, it's a big & tall battery back, mimicking a mid-engine, for the traditional feel.
Again, what defines a Musclecar? If to Dodge, it's just the shape, seating, and weight-bias, then good. It's not Rear Wheel Drive like a traditional muscle car, because the video showed their EV doing an All Wheel Drive burnout, like Ken Block's Hoonicorn. And even if it has the option to only send power only to the rear, then you still have the weight & drag of all the components to power the front wheels.
And if it's going to be all-time AWD, but will have the battery where the engine would be, then at least it will have the great driving dynamics of WRC rallycar?
Weight over the powered front axle, driving techniques to swing the rear around corners, and more balanced weight under acceleration, All Wheel Drive clawing you out of the slide.
That would be an interesting Dodge, especially during winter. Give more Americans that WRC, Ken Block experience. Hopefully, everyone practices & masters it in empty parking lot, and not be shallow fools, just getting this car to show off, and make it a meme like Mustangs with crowds.
That's what I think about this electric Dodge. Like the electric Hummer ads, this seemed out of touch, silly in a bad way, and ignoring the elephant in the room that is Tesla.
Then again, what do I know?
I preferred Tunercars over muscle growing up, I now prefer motorcycles because they are more fun, more efficient, more affordable, easier to work on, easier to live with, and can't be trapped as easily by cops and other thugs like cars can.
What's the point of having a great power-to-weight ratio, when traffic and those gang members called police can ruin your fun, no matter how safe you are, and you can't escape cops, Karens, let alone any natural disaster, all because your vehicle is too big to fit in common gaps, and too big to hide?
I don't need the room, size, and costs of a car right now, or ever. And if Dodge isn't going to try to bypass Stealerships, and the mafia called government, to sell directly to me, then I care even less about any car they make, and their whole brand, other then testing any bike I buy, modify, or build against civilian & police versions of their cars.
