hy , daiwa ninja feeder combo is amazing and goes around 100euros. Also the new shimano Aero BB reel for feeder has a decent price and round clip. i enjoy your videos a lot, keep it up!
A tip might be to use a bank stick to hold down your unhooking mat then put your landing net handle on the bank stick . This also means less bending to pick up landing net !
Yes agree i went fishing the other day started on a white wafter then yellow the a hookable pellet had 22 carp out and 80lb of fish red letter day for me...
I'm always too standing on net handles. And always replacing. So I'm not going to pay a fortune but replace with the same one (nor stamping proof!!) THE SENSAS ALLIGATOR 3M handle £12.99 from an online retailer in Leeds. Friends can't believe have light an usable they are. Always buying another after stepping heavily on the poor things. No point paying a fortune and then taking a walk on it. Especially when rushing in the rain to pack up and get home. I mta h fish for a local club. Others have bought the same. So I reckon it's would be a great net handle for amy angler for the price. Would complement the price of these rods. Great, well made, never had problem with them even when I've had a couple of years in horrendous weather. Qualities good! But not stamp proof👍😅
Hey up bud, I've a good few Carp on Sonubaits 10 mm, Chocolate Orange Band'um SINKERS . I glazed the whole Tub full in choc' orange syrup a couple of weeks ago & are still hard like New!! Use em' same as Wafters.
Just one other point. The rod is also fine for bream. Lots of backbone, but a lovely soft top action. You won't bump many skimmers with the X1. So regarding previous comment. Just like to say it's really a great all round rod. And my son has never had a problem with the sienna. I.e. line going around the back and underneath. And for the price. A great drag. With is in my opinion, the proof of a decent reel. I dont think you could have chosen a better combo for someone wanting to maybe upgrade a little. Or a newcomer to the sport. Very usable and should last too.👍. And thanyou again! Love the videos. Not only showing new anglers they can have gear that's completely functional, does the job well, looks the part too....very smart looking...and affordable. And the other videos showing how to set up, and that BAIT also doe snot have to cost a fortune either. And will still catch plenty of fish as you have proven many times on your videos. Great videos for anyone starting out , with the how to do sections. But also really great just to chill out and watch. Sorry matey. Go on a bit eh👍😅. But hat you do with your videos hopefully will get a few more people confident to get out there and enjoy all the many benefits of this great hobby/sport of fishing.
Thank you for taking the time to write these comments. I agree with all the observations you have made and I hope people pick up some tips and see it does not need to be an expensive hobby or complicated 👌🏻🎣
Nice video mate. That roach was a belter. The fish I had off the doughnut lake were all in good Nick. I think certain anglers need lessons in fish care instead of ripping their faces off but that’s the match fishing mentality where they yank them in as fast as they can. I thought it was a nice fishery, even better a cracking pub and food at the Legh Arms back towards the A565.
Thanks Mate means a lot 👌🏻 I think there are some cracking silvers at mere lane ! I agree with you there Lee. It’s definitely a nice fishery, well laid out good access and not bad fishing at all . Haha sounds like you have your priorities sorted out there with the pub gub ! 😂 thanks for watching and commenting!
looks a nice set up for 70 notes....i use a middy white knuckle 8 footer....and reel similar price...through action had carp to 16 on it so far...cant fualt it at the mo....tight lines guys
Hiya buddy, another great video, and a nice idea. Some people would pay this or more for absolutely unusable and easily breakable rods and reels. Which is a shame as can put people off fishing straight away. But what you have chosen are a great rod and a decent reel. Should last a very decent length of time too. So as I said great idea Westy! I actually have a couple of 10ft X5 feeder rods, about £150 each. BUT...I have bought the X1 10ft rod too. It actually for method feeder fishing, in my opinion is superior. So it's not always you get what you pay for . The X5 rods are great. But for out and out method fishing and a third of the price. The X1 is great rod to buy. Would say to anyone. For a rod in this price bracket, in comparison to other comparison brands. This is a winner. And yes. I've got one of those reels for my son, the sienna. It's great! Very good line clip. Wouldn't expect this on a reel this price. And the drag I'd great. Very good choice to recommend to your viewers buddy. Both items work very well. And will last too. Sorry to jabber on 😅. But great combo you've chosen there! And thanyou again for the great video. Great idea!!!
Thanks foa a superb review Westy. Been looking at this rod range myself recently/ Looks like a fine combo. You cant argue with the price.. I'm a Shimano Lover myself owning the Beastmaster CX & Aero x5 9 - 11 feeder rods and 4000 reels. Use a cheap 10ft Forcemaster BX for Wagler fishing.
Well you wait ages for a bus then two come along at the same time lol, great vid Westy looks a very good Rod for the money along with the reel, I fish the bomb at this time of year get the feed in over the top, but it is less feed than a method feeder, fish been fed heavy through summer so not taking as much now, tight lines mate.
I am going to try a bit more bomb and small pva mesh over the next few weeks. However I actually find in September October the carp pick up the pace on the feeding putting weight on for winter ❄️ tight lines buddy 🎣
Hello Westy. Great video the rod & reel look fantastic. Last time i fished Mere Lane Groundbait was banned although I fished the Doughnut lake . Im gonne try the old course lake next time I fish here . Great stuff keep it up buddy . 👍
I think it would be a pretty good winter venue Neil probably pick up a few nice bream! However I don’t think it’s that deep, at least on the side I was fishing !
Another good video with good advice, a good review on the rod and reel, nice to see you had a good result on the day, have ever looked at the Daiwa Matchman Method Feeder Rod range good price around £46.99 and a lot of good reviews, if so what's your opinion on them.
Enjoying the channel mate. I have the exact same Aero x1 and it has done me proud over the years. Had plenty of decent carp up to 10 lbs on it. Why do you use swivels instead of the ICS quick change beads?
Great information for people there Ryan ! Glad the rod has held up long term, you can’t go wrong with Shimano can you ! I find the ics quick beads are not as firm in the bottom of the feeder, they don’t last long and they are pretty hard to get hold of at the moment. The swivels are firm in the feeder but still come out on the take! Im definitely not against the QC beads though, I did used to use them 👌🏻👍🏻
That’s my thoughts Ryan ! Whether I’m right or not is another matter 😂 you can also fish with a slightly slacker line /less bend in the tip because it’s working like a bolt rig 👍🏻👌🏻
sienna is prety big bulshyte, had it rod fell in freshwater and reel was done. unusable after, wasnt spining freely anymore. took it apart dried out new lubricant and no changes. no clue what happened. 2500 size
The one piece of equipment you should spend descent money on Westy is a landing net handle Mate you will not go wrong with the Diawa tournament Cheers Mate
Thanks for watching and commenting Kamron, I think a lot of people forget about the margins at this time of year. Can still be a great place to catch coming right up to late October
just a quick question, have you used a bait needle instead of the rubber, if yes, wich one is better? we dont have that kind of tackle where i live, and im interested in trying them out. Also i would like to know where you buy the rubbers from.
I agree I never use barbed even on venues where they allow it ! If you get broke the fish can’t shake the hook. You thank that’s the issue and what’s causing the damage? People using barbed hooks ? Your right there, owners should check I don’t think I have ever had my gear checked in the entire time I have been fishing !

the roach was brill !

Can’t beat Shimano can you Stu ! If they still made the Shimano speedmaster I would get two more. I love them !
I would be buying this combo if the reel was a bait runner !
Nice set up buddy great price .. some lovley fish caught .. cheers 🍻 Chris & Sam
Thanks for watching as always ! Looks like you had a good session this week also 👌🏻
