    I would call that first knot a crown knot rather than a lanyard knot as, for me, a lanyard knot is a different beast. A net gauge is shaped just like a credit card. The gauge can help keep the mesh knots even as you progress down the side of the jar. At the end of the video the lady uses a cow hitch to tie off the lines to a steel ring. Google "cow hitch or lark's head" if you don't know how to tie one--it's easy.
    Thumbs up! I enjoy any video that gets people involved with rope work.

    This is the easiest and fastest net I have found everyone else has made it so damn complicated this is fantastic

    Btw that really is an incredible poem they mention, the lanyard. It'll make you tear up!

    Got these thinking they were the slightly larger Panfish floats th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rJB7cli5f1ofPVGgn80S7Yj4vqwq0gU they work just fine. The smaller size lets me carry more in my tackle box, and the 3 color choices are nice for different lighting conditions, backgrounds, etc. They aren't the most durable things in the world. But, as cheap as they are, it's not heartbreaking to lose one or have to replace a worn one. The price on these fluctuates wildly, from about $9 to almost $16. So, time your buy accordingly.

    She was TRYING to explain WHILE showing HOW TO DO IT! And Martha just kept babbling about NOTHING! She talked right through the beginning of the actual instructions! I'm set up, strings cut and separated, I've got the beautiful square knot done(😁 WooHoo), but Martha just talks and talks about lanyards and her favorite colors, and then it's on to the next step...I rewind and watch again trying to SEE better what she did...but I can't!! Frustrating as hell Martha! I LIKE visual instructions better than step by step drawings! I taught myself to crochet...TAUGHT MYSELF!! But surprisingly...I lie not...I COUKD NOT start the beginning of KNITTING from a diagram!! (This was some 18 years ago BTW...before TH-cam DIY videos) It wasn't until a knitting show on PBS I stumbled across showed ....SHOWED how to cast-off that I finally got it! I'm not ignorant by any stretch of the imagination, I mean, I learned to crochet from crochet magazines for Pete's sake! Some things HAVE to be watched...on the job training big you will....but...wow, did I just rant a year old video? Hahahahah😂😂
    Reckon I'll find another channel to learn from.....🙃🙄🤗...giggle-snorkel😳

      Martha Stewart is always rude to people. You should watch the movie.. .MARTHA INC.: THE STORY OF MARTHA STEWART (2003) Cybill Shepherd portrays Martha & very good at it.

    This is not really a good net actual nets should be tied with one string

    • @asiahooper4965
      @asiahooper4965 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why? Wouldn't the structure be stronger with more strings? I really want to know I am planning on doing this.

      @@asiahooper4965 look up netting with a shuttle that is the traditional method for making nets you basically just use a series of clove hitches I'm kinda persnickety about this sorta thing because my grandparents made nets for fishing but besides that when you net with a single line and a shuttle it is also easier to make nets that are even usually when making a net with multiple ropes it will come out uneven but for a simple project like this multi strand netting should be fine as long as not a lot of weight is being supported with the net
