I really love that atmospheric, high pitched humming sound that the train makes, ( well only for 377 and 387 classes) for some reason. I don't think anyone notices it and realises.
My favourite part of the journey, once again like the last comment, no one realises it, but there is a very large, significant quarter turn as you leave Lewes, now for some reason the rumbling and screeching of train due possibly to dry tracks is simplicity at its finest!! Every time I leave Lewes to go to Polegate after college I listen to the noises and listen and its so atmospheric and menacing at the same time!
Unfortunately though that area of track in lewes has been resurfaced and those rumbling noises were removed due to engineering works, as they call them. Its good they did it but its also very unfortunate at least to me because it used to add a sense of fun in the journey back.
