Hi Robert, ABSOLUTELY!! Other colors work at times as well but I've never had a reason to stray from my greens and whites ;-) THanks for coming by and leaving your comment, have a great season!! Capt Paul
I would recommend also if you have a few messed up ones if you take some sand paper and rough up the metal surface. Spray paint the metal surface white and then spray paint it a clear topcoat and put a new tube on it and it will show very clear on cloudy days when you have sun and reflecting issues.
Hey Capt. Paul, thanks for the great videos. I have searched, but cannot find replacement hooks for my jigs, what is the named of the type of hook with the surgical tube on it, that is used?
greetings, I've watched a lot of your videos and truly enjoy them, you have a lot of knowledge and you've helped me make snelling hooks a breeze lol. now on to the diamond jigs, would they be effective during the spring migratory run, there's a river close by that i know they come up and I would like to go fish it from the bulkhead, just curious if I could expect to have any success with jigs or spoons, maybe even tipping them with some bloodworm or clam, would greatly appreciate some help =)
Thx capt Paul I watch all of your videos and they are all great I rush down in Long Island at sore thumb Ii was just wondering what your favourite lures are for stripers in the surf ? I'm down on the sore thumb every weekend in the summer and I'm only ten but I can out fish 40 year olds I love to fish and I really want to catch that keeper striper
Hi Katie Berghahn My "favorite" lure on the beach might not be the most PRODUCTIVE but you asked my favorite so I will say the Pencil Popper!!! The fish charge these plugs VERY aggressively and I love that surface explosion!!! Pencil Popper, hands down my "favorite" !!! :-)
+Tom Patton the reels are typically loaded with 25lb Berkley Big Game mono, that ties to a barrel swivel and then a short shot (36inches or so) of 50lb mono tied to a snap which connects to the jigs. Yes, the birds are a very good indicator of fish over bait when the fish have them pushed to the surface but the jigs are also worth a shot whenever marking large schools of bait near the bottom with fish in them. :) :) Hope that helps, thanks for coming by, good luck on the water, Capt Paul
+Tom Patton no problem at all. In my neck of the woods we hope for a banner run of the sandeels which drives a lot of the diamond jigging action. Sorry to say that it doesn't happen every year but when it does it is some of the HOTTEST action you'd ever want!! :)
Nice video. Where are you buying your jigs? Do you make the tubes or do you buy those too? I would like to start making my own. Nice tip with the jewelry cleaner.
+Chris Wright I get the majority of my terminal gear at Terminal Tackle in Kings Park NY. Great shop!!! They also sell the tube replacements shown in the video!! Thanks for coming by, tight lines to you, Capt Paul
Thanks Capt for the great tip, would have never thought of the Jewerly cleaner!
snakemonkey555 no problem, it works like a charm, they come out almost new with just a little time :-) Good luck on the water, Capt Paul

mostly what I fish with A 17 and A 27,, here in nj the blues and stripers really like the bright orange tails and bright yellow

Polishing with beeswax makes scratched metal really shine and might help to slow the corrosion, too!
