I financially supported the North Shore Animal League for a decade. It's a terrific organization! Not only do they sponsor pet adoption, they also rescue wild animals.
I decided to focus on animal protection closer to home, but if you could get a puppy from them, you would have a good friend.:)
Love this! We adopted a 12 year old who was left homeless through no fault of his own or the owner and he has been a dream dog!

My mom adopts all the old dogs and especially if they need to stay together. I’m very proud of her and she’s 80 now w a fur family of 4 maybe 5 ❤😂🤔

I would sure like to see an entire segment with older dogs. I adore the puppies and the whole segment, but older dogs are house trained and incredibly grateful for being adopted. I've fostered many and kept two. Best decision ever.
Stephen I needed this today as I had to put my teen daughters 4 year old puppers down today! She had kidney failure and drastically lost weight, she was the sweetest!
I'm so sorry! How heartbreaking for you both. I hope in time you will be ready to welcome another dog who needs you, and that your next pupper has a long, healthy, happy life.
I adopted a beautiful border collie 12 years ago who had "behavior" issues. He just needed a home where his particular skills would be appreciated. He was very protective of his former owner and bit the neighbor who trespassed in his yard. I'm a single woman in my 60s and I live off-grid on 20 acres of mountain wilderness where I raise goats, so having a loyal, protective dog is ideal for me!
For now he's still energetic and healthy. I don't feed him dog food, I cook chicken in a big pressure cooker, mix it with vegetables, pumpkin and oatmeal and freeze it in baggies. It actually costs less than dog food but it takes most of a day to make enough for 2 weeks. If I wasn't retired, I probably wouldn't have time.
So very sorry for your loss.
As been suggested, please feature older dogs ... maybe just a few on the show. They need loving homes just as much as the puppies do, and they're already trained. I have fostered older cats, and the one i have now I adopted 2 years ago was 14 years old. She's still going strong.

As an Australian I can say that Australian cattle dogs are some of the absolute best and most loyal dogs you'll ever find.
Lovely dogs, smart, beautiful...but the owner has to be smarter than the dog, and willing to put in time on training while it's a baby.
I had to stop the video when they got to Blaze. Two years ago, I adopted the most wonderful, incredibly smart Stumpy-tailed Blue Heeler from the pound. Smartest dog I've ever known, and he went everywhere with me. He was truly my best friend and the perfect ranch dog.
Tragically, he was smarter than me, and I'll never forgive myself for not realizing just how smart he was. He opened my car door and got inside because the day before I had driven to town without him because I had an appointment. He decided I would not leave him again, and he would be waiting for me. Sadly, I didn't need to drive anywhere that day. I found him @ 11:00 AM inside my car, dead from the heat. I didn't know he could open the car door.
BTW, I named him "Blaze" after the musician Blaze Foley. I have a video on my channel of Blaze and me driving home from my mailbox that's 3 miles from my ranch, and I'm singing him a Blaze Foley song called, "Wouldn't It Be Nice?".
The musician Blaze Foley died IRL while protecting a friend from a knife-wielding thug. His friend survived, Blaze didn't. 😭

This is one of my fave segments of Dog Rescue. They are so cute and Jennifer is so awesome and fun. She loved that Who joke. Great song as well, hahaha. Happy birthday on April 17 to this amazing Aries Queen of the screen and television.

They never introduced that black puppy.. Black dogs are least likely to be adopted in shelters (aside from seniors,) they always get skipped.. sucks that they skipped him on the show too... Maybe he'll still get adopted just by being in the pen? Anyway, SO glad they do this segment, thank you for promoting the senior girl! 💗

Most were Australian cattle dogs. I'm guessing it's one litter. I suspect they're very smart and have a lot of energy.

Yeah, they must be siblings. I had an Australian cattle dog. He was so smart and very easy to train. They're great dogs.
Early training is a must with an Aussie...also an owner smarter than the dog. They're not for people who can't or won't put in the time to train them. They can be more protective than some people can handle.
@@retriever19golden55 My Aussie was a stray, wandering around Denver. He wasn't a puppy, but still young, probably a year and a half. He was the best dog ever. Teaching/training him was a breeze. One day when I let him out before leaving for work, he disappeared. We lived in a small mountain town where everyone looked out for each other's pets, so I wasn't too worried. I left for work, and around noon I was telling a friend he had taken off. My friend said "oh, he's sitting right outside by the door". And there he was, waiting for me and greeting customers to my restaurant. He was a good boy.
I've had two cattle dogs, and a CD mix, all 3 came from the pound. I have a goat ranch and can attest that they are perfect ranch dogs.
The first one I adopted 21 years ago when he was on doggy death row. The director at the pound deemed him "too dangerous" for adoption, because he had bitten her more than once. After spending two minutes around her, I had a very strong urge to bite her too!
My 9 year old son and I had fallen in love with Ringo and spent his last 3 days visiting the pound, trying to get the staff at the pound to reconsider and let us adopt him. We were there at closing time on his last day, he was 30 minutes away from being killed (4 month old adorable pup!). My son has these big, beautiful (tearful) green eyes and I think that's what finally wore them down.
The director wasn't there, so an employee said they would let us try going into a room with Ringo, then we would see how fearful he is and why he's not a good "family dog". My son was sitting on the floor when they brought Ringo in, and the pup immediately sat in his lap and happily nuzzled my son's face like the sweet dog we knew he was! Ringo came home with us, and we had him 15 wonderful years until he died of old age.
13 of those years he lived with us on our remote, off-grid ranch and helped protect and herd our goats (he taught himself). He loved children and was a gentle soul so I didn't understand why the pound director thought he was aggressive... until the day an escaped inmate from a prison 5 miles away showed up while I was getting ready to go ride my horse. It was saddled, bridled, and tied up while I was filling water bottles. I guess the escaped convict thought he'd found himself a ride down the mountain so he approached my horse but never made it. I heard him screaming, and saw Ringo biting his leg while our other dog (also cattle dog mix) was pulling him by the arm. The man broke loose and ran away. I called the sheriff and later was told that their bloodhounds tracked the guy easily since he was bleeding pretty good.
Ringo was a good judge of character. He never bit anyone who didn't deserve it!
Cattle dogs are known for their loyalty. They bond with their families and typically have a favorite person who they will defend with their lives.

I’m so proud of you Stephen for doing the rescue dog segment! I ❤ you more and more ! If I had a backyard I would take 2 easy. I take care of my roommates dog because he’s never home especially now gone three weeks out of every month she’s an English bulldog two years old and poops like a cow. The living room is hers 😮

Cattle dog mixes are awesome. My first dig was a heeler/shepherd = the best. But she needed a chance to run everyday. Let out that energy!
I have a 20 acre goat ranch in the mountains, very remote and 100% of my electricity comes from solar/wind/batteries. My dogs have all been "pound puppies" and all have been cattle dogs, border collies, and/or mixes of those breeds. This place is what high-energy doggies dream of! No fences, and they have goats and chickens to protect and herd.
Yesterday my son took our 13 year old border collie on a hike to see the waterfall that's 2 miles from home. It's crystal clear, cold water from the snow melt coming from higher elevations. Joey dog jumped right in and enjoyed having a swim. When I got home, Joey met me in the driveway all excited to "tell" me about his adventures!
Dogs are so adorable, and I hope we have many more years with Joey. He's a very good boi!

As an Australian PLEASE KNOW Australian cattle dogs need a big back yard or you to be home all day and give them a balls to catch because otherwise they get bored and will tear up you garden. They were bred to round up cattle so they like moving around a lot of being taught stuff.

I named my cat "Houdini" for his ability to hide in impossibly small spaces, and for making himself invisible when I first got him. Now he's not shy at all, but he's still magical to me. He made my depression disappear! He's also a tuxedo cat, so he's dressed like the famous magician.

Man, wish I were rich AF and could make an animal rescue center that pays people to adopt an animal at the facility if they'll come and visit them frequently. I'd gladly throw monies at kids for giving a pet love and affection, and then if they want to adopt from the place they've already grown attached.
