Damon Albarn is such an independent thinking, talented songwriter. One of the best of my generation. He follows no trends, and in fact creates his own trends and styles at the same time as being one of those artists that voices his opinions, regardless of any possible backlash that it attracts. A wonderful artist.
When you have the same opinion as the mainstream media, the dominant political party, celebrities, and the majority of brainwashed people - you are NOT a rebel or an independent thinker. It's alright, i get the romanticising of someone you don't actually know, but don't call it things it isn't.
Damon reminds me of David Bowie. As in he’s a legend all by himself. He’s just got something that reminds me of David, maybe the tamed voice range. Usually peaceful lyrics and compelling themes in almost all of his music. He knows what he’s talking about.
@@misstembo2000 that's a lie. He loved damon's work, he even promotes one of Damon' albuns in the early 2000, you can see on TH-cam. Bowie was a big inspiration for Damon.
Albarn knows what he’s talking about? Albarn's views are spoon fed to him by state and corporate propagandists. Albarn's views couldn't be more ignorant and conformist if he tried.
American here, I fell in LOVE with the Union Jack, the U.K when I heard The Good The Bad The Queen. It was a love message to his people, and that's why it was sought after as being "political" when it was a artistic rendition of the thoughts of the British people. It was fucking beautiful, it made me want to be from a different country. It made me see through their eyes, what the masses don't say and don't feel about and it was amazing. The U.K has my heart, if not all of it, but a very large piece.
good point all over this interview - what I'm feeling all over everything in this crazy time; people just forgetting about what "Love" and "Spirituality" and ""Art" are all about , people tends to forget roots - music is power ! dig it ! Music is the real news...
Finally Simon gets a question and 10 seconds into his answer Damon does a big yawn and then interrupts. It's like when Bowie said he liked the idea of democracy in a band when he formed Tin Machine, but he quickly found out he couldn't hack the reality.
Unfortunately, one of Damon's biggest follies is his ego. I love the guy, but he tends to seize the spotlight in any band he's in and command authority. Graham and Alex were known for having their creative efforts squandered somewhat by him while they were together in Blur, perhaps either because he had malicious intent or he was just too excited about his own work, or some combination of the two. He isn't that bad about it, but it is noticeable.
@@k-leb4671 i honestly think its that he's passionate and excited. I'm working on a group project for a videogame right now, and i'm in charge of making the quest; I had a really solid idea and wrote 4-5 pages full of story, quests and monsters. Ended up accidentally taking 2 other people's jobs as they had to create monsters and story and I was solely focused on quests so I had to change it all. I was really bitter about it cuz I ended up trying to do it how I envisioned it with my own enemies and story. So yeah I don't think Damon really means to do it maliciously.
English identity crisis? Maybe. But Great Britain, United Kingdom .. Damon is wrong about Anglo Saxon roots. The myth of England in a nutshell. No wonder we're all confused, or constantly sold a pig in a poke. But the music sums everything up perfectly. Neither Leave nor Remain. We are what we are. Let's focus on that.
I don't think Simon likes being here much. From my impressions of him, he seems to prefer folk, and his time working with Erland Cooper in the magnetic north and E+TC to working with Damon...
Got to be fun on the tour bus!...the musics as tired as damon seems to be..the subject matter too worthy and right on..Middle aged musing after too much beer.
5:30 Yes we judge muslim families because they are over pious like we were 1,000 years ago you nutcase! Funny how Damon can always find ways to understand any group of people anywhere on the planet except British patriots.

Great songwriter, but his socio-political ideas would be embarrassing if they came from 6th form student.
I realize I'm kinda randomly asking but does anybody know of a good site to stream newly released movies online ?
@Zaid Dakota thank you, I went there and it seems to work =) I appreciate it !
