Don't bathe them?? What the hell is wrong with this video! Cats can get dirty and they need to be cleansed to! It's just don't scare them while doing it!
@@ser2phic I only listed what was said in the video. And your right you do have to care for them and sometimes help them with bathing for whatever reason. And yes, don't scare them and find out if they will put up with enough water to swim in or if you will have to give them a sponge bath.
Declawing: I like that this video showed that animation of a human's fingers removed at knuckles. Really gets the point made. Other videos I seen that mention about the declawing don't show anything like that. Good work, showing that!
It’s a stupid and ridiculous example, simply not true. House cats don’t need them for climbing or protection, unless you’re a terrible owner, and they don’t miss them. In over 60 years of owning multiple cats, I can say this as a matter of fact and personal lifelong experience. I’ve loved all my cats deeply and they’ve loved me back. I held each one from birth until the vet had to put them down in their old age from debilitating sickness.
I was afraid to get cats. They are the best animals I ever have. We had 3. Now we have 2. It all depends on the cats personality. One of our cats is really chilled and calm. You can touch, pick him up and rub him anytime. The other you have to know his limits. Both are great cats though. We raised both as kittens
This is basically how I treat my cat. The only real exception is the dry food. I've tried wet food with her, but she won't eat it. But I give her a lot of cold water from the refrigerator-she loves that.
My cats love to be held like a baby. The just sit in my arms without any force needed and love the attention. Plus my boy loves being held and walked around the house, seeing things from our level. However, I do agree with not doing it to your cat if they aren't used to it or don't want to do it. It depends on the cat's personality and forcing them can injure them. My cats also don't mind belly scratches despite most cats not liking them. They'll go on their backs, stretch and roll around, and get belly scritches. I'll also play with them by ruffling their bellies but never do this if you're not confident your cat won't hurt you or they don't like it. Again, my cats are big teddy bears and love playing like this and know not to bite too hard or dig their nails in too much. They also enjoy this rough housing and are the ones who controll how long it goes on for.
Cats love having their bellies rubbed but only from people they trust. I think how they're raised from has a lot to do with if they'll enjoy or tolerate being held. Need to start them as young as you can. My current cat and I are well bonded but she could also be a little stand offish. I get lots of cuddles, kneaded, groomed, shes an awesome lap cat. Just drapes herself on me, she insists on tummy rubs...but she hates head bunts. Shies away from them. As she matures things have changed. She seems to enjoy being held. She'll purr and recline in my arms...but her tail is also whipping so in conclusion cats are silly.
Packing Tape on the furniture spot you don't want them to claw works wonderfully. I had a new couch and 2 of my cats began clawing the arm. I covered it in cellophane Packing tape for about a week. They developed habits of clawing elsewhere, and when I took the tape off, they never went back to clawing the couch arm. I've had cats for 70 years.
Also, try aluminum foil in the areas you don’t want you cat to go. I’ve been a cat owner for many years and it always works. Once they’re trained and they get the idea you don’t want them there, pick up the foil.
@@CupCaked Thank you. That's one I didn't know, or I forgot. I used to give Gumbi the aluminum foil that I baked fish on, and he ate every bit of it. I recently changed to a cheaper foil, and he won't eat off of it. I'll go back to a plastic dish. Thanks!
@@CupCaked my fur baby thinks aluminum foil is a toy. She loves it so much that if I leave it over some food and not pay attention she will steal it and run off with it. It’s highly amusing and entertaining but I have to pick it up all over the place afterwards. Of course I’ll let her. She’s my baby, 😸
Some cats LOVE being held and cradled. My cats do! They are always jumping into my arms, even climb up my body when I'm standing, because they want to be held. I think this depends on how young they were socialized, and how they were raised. My cats also like to sleep in bed with us.
When they said not to cradle your cat like a baby, I think they mean on it's back with the feet up. Cats like to be able to feel like they are free to move when they want, and if they're on their back they can't. Some cats are comfortable enough with you that they don't mind being held on their back, but that's less common.
Omg mine keeps climbing into my moms shoulder every time literally every time even when she’s getting the car keys he jumps on the table then jumps on shoulder
We've had cats since I was 10 years old (46 years). We've never bathed them. They don't need bathing, unless they get into something seriously dirty (oil, sprayed by a skunk, fleas etc.). Generally we leave kitties alone unless they want loving. When you live with a cat, it's all about them and what they want, not what the humans want.

In regards to the "never bathe your cat" part - not all cats are good at grooming themselves. I've dealt with 30+ cats in my lifetime and their grooming activity varies from "next to never" to "multiple thorough sessions per day". Not to mention old cats often need help with cleaning themselves due to various health issues.
cat's should never be washed unless they are properly dirty like greasy, NEVER cut they claws, outside they could escape up a tree when being chased let them be as nature intended
or of they're furless cat breed... I'm trying to remember the breed... my mind gone blank on it lol... rex. or something.... they do need to be bathe...
My cat WANTS me to "Scruff" him. He sits by me and meows. When I say, "C'mon", he hunkers down and sticks his neck out. He does it EVERY day. I finally pick him up that way, and he just purrs loudly. After a few minutes, he jumps down and does it again. When he doesn't want that, he just jumps right into my lap.
True, My cat’s a a former stray so no idea his breed, my boy loves being cradled, he’ll flip himself into that position. His sister, we sadly lost a year ago, didn’t like it.
I have two toms, litter mates. I have never treated them as people. If I wanted to live with people, I would. Most of the things mentioned in these videos don't apply to mine. They don't give a darn about cucumbers and they love belly rubs. I think it's because they've always been treated as cats, and not as some sad replacement for the kids I never had. They're my cool roommates.
My cat and I have a game where I'll hide behind a corner making some noise, and when he runs to investigate, I jump out and say "BOO!". He loves it and always excitedly runs over; he usually pounces the second he rounds the corner in an attempt to surprise me first (I usually let him "win" by acting like I'm the one that was surprised). It's adorable and he loves it...there's a difference between playing a game with them trying and trying to scare them.
I'm playing hide and seek with my cat too and sometimes she is hiding and calling for me to seek her and when I get close where she is hiding she jumps out to scare me I love it
I never imagined declawing a cat but i do cut his claws when they get too long or when he scratches something or someone and gives a bleeding wound, which could be dangerous. He is totally fine with it as long i am gentle with him and dont cut too far. My cat doesn't like to be held like a baby but he does enjoy being held the right way and usually he knows it can lead to treats or food. When i smell that he has poo in his claws is the time i usually wash them, in not so cold or too hot water and gently with soap. After a long dirt bath outside he gets a shower but that is really rare since he cleans himself well usually. He is soon 16 but in good health and i wish to have him as long as he would have me in his life.
Once upon a time, back in the 90s, a family member owned a cat. One day this person saw their children playing with the cat, putting the face up close to the cat. The person freaked out and understood that in order to let their kids safely play with the cat, the cat had to be declawed. So without telling anyone, this person took the cat to the local vet, and declawed the poor creature. This cat was never the same, and I was the first one to notice the strange change in behavior. It broke my heart. The cat became hostile towards the family members, specially to the one that kidnapped and drive to the vet, I also became hostile to this family member, but who cares about what a kid got to say right? Smh. One day, the cat couldn’t take the suffering and betrayal anymore and fled the house. With no claws to fight or hunt, the cat embarked in a journey, it understood that the cruel outside world was paradise compared to the atrocities endured back at “home”. Weeks went by, but the cat never came back. One day we found an animal, flattened out on the pavement in one of the streets of the neighborhood, as if it was some sort of street art. There it was, the cat that never came back. It broke my heart, I never wanted to own a cat until now. 20 years later I have my own, and anyone who dares hurt my cat, will get declawed, I’ll be doing the declawing.
That's a dreadfully sad tale - and a salutory reminder to anyone who would ever consider de-clawing a cat purely for the sake of "convience". De-clawing should be banned by law and made a criminal offence.
Anyone who declaws a cat should be thrown out on hot coals with no shoes on!. People do horrendous things to their pets thinking it's for their own good - but it's really for the owners own good. These people shouldn't have animals if it means altering the animal's natural being.
@@leen1q84 Dry your tears darling. The cats soul is in Paradise in the loving hands of the Great Spirit. The callous person responsible has a black stain on their soul - and that's a life sentence.
I had a cat that loved fireworks & thunderstorms. She always ran to the window to watch it. She also had a game of setting the cooker alarm off at 3am! She knew it was wrong as she’d jump down as soon as I got out of bed.
I NEVER see any cat or dog love the noises, instead they really scare when fireworks or thunderstorms probably your cat ears damage, since your house always had a loud noise from TV movies, loud musics and watch games.. so he had NO choice to avoid it and his ears damaged. Cat and dog ears are very sensitive that is reason why they could hear the sound of another cat walk but we can not hear it.
@@California6 I live in a flat so keep the noise I make to a minimum. Her hearing was fine, she was just a very bizarre cat; to name a few, played fetch, sat for her dinner & barked like a sea lion instead of meowing (but she could meow when someone else was watching!). As soon as she heard the thunder or fireworks she’d run to sit in the window to watch it. My other cat isn’t bothered by it either. Growing up most of our dogs didn’t mind thunderstorms either. So not all cats & dogs are scared by thunderstorms.
@@amandaholt5791 I only talk on common sense that I saw 99.99% cats and dogs were so scare when they hear any loud noise as human yell at them, loud musics, movies, firework, thunderstorm,.... Just like human cats and dogs have no choice to endure with their situations even though their ears can be going deaf later life. People who listen loud musics their ears damage too but they don't even know that until older age they become deaf compare with those people hear normal sound. Every time have loud noises from firework or thunder storm, noise from construction... I always close all windows but my cat still afraid and he hided inside the walk in closet.
Just found your channel and I want to say, THANK YOU FOR THESE! Especially not declawing your cat. That is actual mutilation. As for the bathing your cat, hairless cats do need to be bathed occasionally but creating breeds, such as hairless cats or munchkins, is nothing short of cruel. It's like purposely creating handicapped cats.
So true cruel and really unacceptable! Not necessary and your cat is in pain! Shame on you you that have done this!I decided a long time ago that you can have beautiful things or you can have a cat. A cat should win every time! Cover your furniture and keep your kitty out of some rooms! Use your brain
@@Juliemarie311 I think they were agreeing with the OP in an excitable fashion and reinforcing their statement for other new/old cat owners to take advice from. I agree wholeheartedly, never declaw your cat. If you can't handle holes in your clothing or furniture, don't have a cat at all. You can train a cat to not claw furniture - without getting physical with them. Also, I have certain t-shirts I wear that are already old that I allow my cats to put their claws into when I'm holding them.
@@L3onOfKings Thanks for kindly explaining that. I thought I was missing something! I agree, declawing should not even be a choice. I couldn't imagine my Cinder having no claws.
@@Juliemarie311 They need their claws too! What if one day they are outside and come up against another cat and they can't defend themselves, or they are lost and are trying to capture and kill an animal to eat and they can't do that, they'll then starve, or they need to go to the toilet and dig a hole to shit in. Just a couple of reasons, but yeah, the claws are an extension of the animal. It would be like us chopping our fingers off, we'd be useless and defenseless. Anyway, glad you agree, see ya!
Honestly, we've had several cats over the past 45+ years or so, and I can't even remember if we EVER had to wash one. The only reason I'd wash a cat was if their fur was covered in a harmful substance. (Hasn't happened to our cats though.) P.S. If you even THINK about "declawing" (=mutilating) a cat, you are NOT a cat person. Don't get a cat. Cats do have claws. If they use them too much on you, slap their face with your finger, but do NOT mutilate them.
Since a cat doesn't like water. A spray bottle with water is a good training tool. No ! Scrach..squrt..No No fight squrt. ALL 7 OF MY CATS KNOW WHAT NO! Means.. No fight taptiste ..out side ius a glass of water when the neighbors cats want to fight mine. You can eat the food..No fight..or go home wet.
My cat goes and lies on top of me when im in the bath, before the water covers me. She drinks the hot bathwater (just pure water) and then lies down purring...until she notices the water has reached her *insert clawmarks and a hasty exit*
Actually, a short loud no whenever my cat jumped on the table, tried to steal food from a cupboard etc stopped it. I just follow it with a cuddle after he got the message and I wound up waking each morning to find my buddy snoozing next to me and behaving like a good boi. A few of these seem like rubbish to me tbh.
@@bambinaforever1402 my cat only steal food from the pantry cause thats where we keep his catnip lol, it doesn't mean they're starving, it just means that you have something in your pantry that they want. Like catnip. My cat also goes after the bacon bits we keep in there too.
#20: Doesn't apply to very young kittens (assuming that they're your cat's or rescues.) That's how you teach kittens to interact with and respond to people. #16 Three of my cats have liked being cradled like babies since they were kittens, sometimes . #12 I'd never pick a cat up by the scruff, but litter mates play-bite each other's scruffs often.
I have a cat that likes to wrestle so much no other cat can live with us. The fights escalate so that the other cats are wounded or live under the beds. He is very loving towards humans. I wrestle with him, holding him gently by the scruff and massaging his neck and shoulders. He wants me to pick him up every time I come home from work. I may hold him just for some seconds but it is enough to mark me as his own.
My cat loves a bath - about three times a year he gets one. If he does something wrong I can scold him and he certainly knows the word "no" or "stop" - and I scruffed him twice as a kitten to litter train him and that worked a treat, now he is big I would never, but when they are little its parental assertiveness. now one year later - if I call him he comes and we spend every moment just chilling with each other, we eat together, we sleep together, and he loves to eat bones on occasion, just make sure they're uncooked bones so they don't shatter.

#19: "Don't yell at them when they misbehave." This admonition is instantly undermined when you say they don't remember the behavior you're yelling at them about. Duh! Of course. No negative reinforcement is going to work if the pet doesn't connect the behavior with the punishment. So, you totally miss the issue on whether yelling would be effective if done in the moment when the cat is misbehaving.
Exactly right! they are intelligent & completely understand if a bad behavior is met with a raised voice or punishment to stop that behavior.. also, as the guy says, punishment after the fact or behavior will be confusing for them... same deal with little humans.. it needs relevance
You can say "No" with firm voice or a little yell but shouldn't yell with loud voice because that will make the cats scared of the owner, they can develop behavioral issues while still confused why you yell at them
@@aidanpham45 Yeah, you can go overboard. The goal is to get their attention in the moment and clearly communicate your displeasure. Just gruffly saying the pet's name once might be enough. Not making that clear too was another failure of this video. It's just weird to be so wrong at the outset of a video.
@@GregConquest I think the video is only/mainly talk about "what not to do to cats", doesn't talk about "what we should do to cats", that's why they didn't talk about other things in details, maybe 🤔
Clipping is different than de-clawing. Clipping your cat's nails once in a while is perfectly fine, and needs to be done. De-clawing on the other hand is taking off the claws altogether. Which is cruel and evil.
I find it necessary to cut my cat's claws. When I neglected to for a while when my baby was born, the cat's claws started to grow around and curled back into her paw pad, causing pain and would have gotten infected badly if I had waited any longer to cut them.
"dont yell at your cat he cant associate it " they do associate it very well they know very well what they have done and they know it was wrong, my cat is proof of that!

@@LogitechXibanga Yeah, you’re still talking bs, your cat doesn’t understand why you yell, she just gets that your angry. There is no need to yell at your cat at all, it’s not a dog, and to be very clear: I also wouldn’t yell at my dog, I give clear commands in a firm tone when I need to get his attention. I only shout at my dog when facing a dangerous situation and I need him to freeze, for example. There is nothing worse than people who constantly yell at their dog, it just shows that they have no idea how to train a dog. And yelling at your cat because she „did something bad“ is utter nonsense ..
for the ‘don’t stick with dry food’ I have a cat and she eats dry food all the time, but when I give her some new food she doesn’t seem interested. I have tried sneaking the food in but she knows it’s a different type of cat food, and so then she doesn’t eat it!
i broke most of the rules mentioned there.. but my cats are now happy and healthy.. got close so much to me that they will run to me everytime i call their names.
very informative - and I have NEVER agreed with de-clawing a cat - I think it's cruel, and it does take away there defense - whether they are "inside" cats or not - what if they get out? They'll be defenseless! Don't Do It Please! It's cruel..
Re: Essential oils I panicked when I heard that, because I use the plug-ins and wax melts that contain essential oils and I have used them for years. (Note: I have 2 cats who are just fine despite my using these). Anyway, I had to research this. For all who panicked like I did, don't worry if you use plug-ins like Febreze, Glade and Air Wick. Those are safe for use around cats. You just can't apply the oil directly onto their fur. Air spray is okay too as long as your cat is not in the room when it's in use. But the diffusers or automatic aerosol sprays or the spray plug-in that sends a constant stream of essential oils into the air at all times are not safe for your pet. They aren't even really that safe for you to be breathing in all the time. So if you are using an electric diffuser or one of those automatic aerosol sprays, that's probably what they're talking about stopping use on this video.
Thanks for this info. I didn't know that. The only scent my cat goes crazy over is Lavender. He just can't get enough. I use an essential oil diffuser and am planning on getting a wax melt fireplace next month. I think I'll stop using my oil diffuser. I actually find your information to be very helpful.
Because it is cruel to keep them from grooming themselves. Clothing prevents cats from grooming themselves, which they NEED TO DO BECAUSE THEY CAN"T SWEAT. They also groom themselves to comfort themselves. Hairless cats prefer to have blankets, cozy areas, pillows and nice warm places to cozy up to. You don't need to be cruel.
My cat is trained to know that when I have called her name a couple times and she continues bad behavior that I will bring out a spray bottle with plain water in it. All I have to do is show it to the cat and she will stop doing whatever she’s doing. I rarely have to do any kind of other control. Once in a while I’ve actually had to give her a squirt of the water but usually it’s just the site of it.
#20 You don't yell at them when they misbehave, but you do talk to them sternly. They will usually get the message, since your friendly interactions with them give your voice a certain pitch, and being stern with them changes that pitch dramatically. And if that doesn't work, a spray can certainly will. It sprays air and gives off a sort of hissing sound. All 3 of my cats are scared when I hold up the can, so after using it one time, I rarely ever have to use it again. #17 I cradle mine like a baby, but only because I started doing it when he was a kitten and he's used to it. He makes it known that he loves it by stretching out and purring real loud. Of course, whenever he moves like he wants down, I let him down. #14 If you do it right, scruffing is not painful for the cat. And sometimes it is necessary. Just to keep them still when you need them to. Like, for the vet. #13 If you want your cat to have something to keep its teeth busy on, get a chewing stick for them. You can find them in most pet stores. #12 Just trim them maybe once a month. That'll keep their claws from hurting you or anyone else. #10 The only time it's okay to "dress up" your cat is when putting a harness on them to go walk outside.
True, but I don’t cut my cats claws. He keeps them in good shape himself. Occasionally if a bit of his claw is coming off, we just mildly trim the dead bit:)
all fun and games until your cats use their long claws while playing with you, they can hurt you pretty badly, cats claw can be cut if they are raised at home, they won't need to use it at home to defend themselves or to hunt, however outside cats do need their claw and it should not be trimmed, the long claw can also be irritating to cats that's why they try scratching with them and it can be harmful to many things in your house, cat can rip curtains, sofa, etc.
Our kitty furson loves to get belly rubs. He will roll at our feet until we give him belly rubs. He DOESN'T like being alone, he will cry if we go outside. He definitely loves his people
The only thing I've done to my cat was hold her like a baby. I'd pick her up hold her like a baby. And she didn't mind it one bit. I'd kiss her on her belly and she would try to jam her snout up my nostril and she had the loudest purrrrrr I've ever heard. When I took my dog for a walk the cat would follow. I didn't realize at first. Till I heard a little meow behind me I turned around and in the headlights of a car I saw her following us. I waited till she caught up with us. From that time on she went for our walks with us. She had the cutest 😍 ways about her. She's been.gone over 20 years I still miss her 🥺😢😭😭😭 RIP Pepper
My kitten friend has started following me and my dog on our walkies down my country road too. She meows loudly at us until she catches up and then she sprints and leaps over the dog’s back. On the way back, she leads us home. If we let them be, they come to us and give us the gift of their loving attention. She likes to wake me up pre-dawn by kissing me on the face.

declawing is the same as a human amputating's their hand , this is something real cat lover would never do ,,in most countries it is illegal to do,, but sadly here in the US some states still think it is ok ,
1:09 when my pet cat gets shouted at she doesn’t like being shouted at but she does understand why, she knows she isn’t allowed on the kitchen counter, as if someone walks into the room while she does it she jumps off knowing that she’s in trouble.
This may be odd, But I trained me felines. From the day they entered our family, we trained them to only eat what they want/or can. So they eat until they feel they arnt hungry. We always lave out food, because we like going outside and leaving the house.
Idk some of it is fine. I have yelled at my cat because she has a habit of biting into plastic and KNOWS she shouldn't do it, she intentionally does it to wake me up when I am sleeping, if anything she trolls me. I cradle my cat like a baby and she absolutely loves it. It's all down to a cat's personality and how they have bonded to you. I've had my cat since she was six weeks old and now she's twelve and still clings to me like I am her mother. Some of the points are valid but others aren't. Like don't stick with dry food, my cat can't stomach cat meats/wet food, she just throws it up. It's just depending on how you know your cat/ their personality/ their quirks.
Here's a tip about scruffing. I watched a video about how to clip a cat's claws and every time this guy tried to hold the cat he would get all cut up and the cat would jump up and run away. THEN he scruffed the cat with his TEETH and the cat just sat very still and he was able to clip the claws in two minutes. I haven't tried it yet but I will because my vet just raised his price for clipping.
Just know the message that scruffing gives adult cats, as opposed to kittens being scuffed by their mothers. It could harm the relationship you have with your cat. Rather, showing your cat that nail clippings can be positive with treats and love is just as effective. I have had cats my entire life and I’ve never had issues clipping my cats nails. They don’t like it, but they sit and know when it’s done, they earn their reward.
You can put your cat into a towel and cover it they wont do anything while inside of it and you can clip its nails I was struggling and this helps me a lot
Right ,right and right .I have only ever had to bathe a cat once and that was because he brushed against some wet fence paint .Anyone wanting to assist a cat with general grooming should go for brushing ,it's much more helpful to the cat .I don't understand people who shout at their cats ,cats don't "Misbehave" intentionally ,they are either behaving in a natural way ,bored and looking for amusement or there is a health / emotional problem that needs addressing .It's possible to gently correct unwanted behavior without scolding or punishment .Dressing cats ,teasing them and trying to startle them is just a**h*** behavior .It shouldn't come as news that a sensitive animal is not going to respond well to being treated like a toy .Wendy Langcake .
I agree. This need to dress up dogs and cats in clothes is ridiculous. I believe people are forgetting that these are animals. Owners are too busy trying to make their pets human...
I had no idea that declawing was so horrible. Omgoodness..I've had it done in the past, but never ever again. .They lied to me,I swear I had no idea..Now I'm feeling ill.
I've owned multipe cats throughout my life and I had them all declawed. They didn't seem to mind at all and were back to normal within a week of their declawing. All lived to ripe old ages too (the oldest was 15). Just be gentle with them after the surgery, make sure not to have rough litter in their litter box, and within a week or so they'll be fine. Honestly, they don't even seem to notice their claws are gone. Declawing is necessary as cat claws carry a lot of bacteria harmful to humans. Also, when a cat scratches, they LOVE to go for the face and eyes of whatever it is they are angry at, including you. I tried leaving my last cat with his claws. One day, I was just sitting on the couch when he decided to run up and attack my face and went right for my eyes and nicked my cornia. I was lucky I closed my eye when I did or I would have suffered permanent damage to my eye. If you don't want to declaw your cat, that's your problem, but I will get mine declawed.
I know pregnant ladies should avoid cats' excrement but that is not helped by declawing. I take my cat walking so I know where he has been. It is not in cat's nature to automatically attack the owner. There is always a trigger and it is very often easy to find. I live in a country where vets never declaw cats and there are no serious injuries to humans. At the moment I live with a cat who knows he may pet my face if he keeps the claws in.
It will be your cats' problem. I do not believe the claws have anything to do with the bacteria. The paws can carry things in too. I always go out with my cat so I know whare he has been. As long as you wash your hands before starting to cook you will be fine. It is not in cat's nature to attack humans. There is always a trigger that can be fixed. My cat knows he must keep the claws in when he touches my face to get attention. Sometimes he kneads and I need to trim the claws to protect myself from hurting. I live in a country where vets refuse to declaw cats because it causes both psychological and physical problems (the paw needs claws for support and declawing can cause arthritis) I suggest you look for a very docile breed (British shorthair, Ragdoll etc) and you can forget about declawing.
@Lone Wanderer If you‘re paranoid about your cat „scratching your face and your eyes“, just don’t keep a cat. No animal has to suffer because some sociopath thinks „Well, I want to have this animal, but I don’t like their claws, let‘s remove them“. And to be very clear: Someone like you shouldn’t keep any animal. I have two tomcats and I had cats before them, never once has one of them tried to attack my face. So either you’re just lying or your cat hates you, and who would blame her? But I guess I‘ll take „Things that never happened“ for 500, you just torture your cats because you don’t want them to harm your furniture. You’re an animal abuser, and that’s the whole truth about you, and I really hope you don’t have kids. To be honest, I‘m pretty sure you don’t have kids ..
Declawing removes part of their bone. It's totally inhumane. Imagine getting the top of your finger cut off for no reason. Plus, when a cat stretches and puts it's claws out to scratch they are stretching the muscles in their backs. There's a reason why it's illegal in some places. It's 100% unnecessary and disgusting no matter your excuse. If you don't want a cat to scratch then teach them. It might take a lot of patience but it can be done. If you can't have a cat without declawing them first then you shouldn't have a cat in the first place. You need to get a calm breed (my boy is half ragdoll and he is a cuddle bug) and teach them at a young age what is and isn't acceptable. Cats shouldn't be attacking you randomly and for no reason. There's always a reason.
@@EchoGhost10100 Oh grow up. Imagine my finger getting cut off? I dont have razor sharp claws on the ends of my fingers and rip into stuff for no good reason. Teach a cat? Oh, so teach them not to get a bug up their ass for no reason and start attacking things and "teach" to break several million years of instinct. Listen, cats arent these sweet, domesticated little angels you think the are. Why do you think cats go feral so easily? Humans have only been keeping them as pets for roughly 10,000 years, unlike dogs whom we have been breeding and modifying through eugenics for over 50,000. Your cat is still that same predator in the wild it was before humans came along. Their wild instincts are very much still intact. When your cat ambushes you, that is them legitimately hunting you. Cats arent these fragile little babies either. They are tough and adaptable. They lose their front claws, they learn to rely on their back ones more. They also still have their sharp, needle like fangs as well which are designed to puncture deep into tissue and inject their saliva with, if you didn't know, contains infectious bacteria. So even a cat with no front claws is still able to defend itself. The problem is you people who see cats as the equivalent of humans. You substitute them for actual children which is pathetic. You fail to see the cat for what it actually is, an animal. It is a beast which you have deigned to bring into your home therefore it must bend to your will to fit your life. Instead you bend your life to fit the beasts and you make excuses for it because "its your baby". That is your mistake, and a foolish one at that. The problem, especially for people like you, is you don't actually understand cats or animals in general. You impose your delusions onto the animal instead of understanding the nature of the beast.
I absolutely hate when people scare animals on purpose for laughs. I cannot believe declawing is still done. So incredibly cruel and these types of people do not deserve cats or any furbabies. People expect animals to have the same behavior and logic as humans.
ive had my cat since he was 2/3 months old. so he was very young. And from the very start ive picked him up allot. ecpesially as a baby. and since she was used to it she doesnt mind it as long as she gets pets😂
19. "Cats live in the moment. They dont associate something from the past with a punishment from the present." 18. "Cats associate crates with the vet."
Because they are IN the crate when you take them to the vet. They'll learn to recognise that the crate means going to the vet, because they are IN IT CURRENTLY when they are there. Likewise, if you reprimand for them something they already did and have moved on from, they won't be able to recognise why you're doing it; they will think they are CURRENTLY doing something wrong.
@@queennzinga5988 of course cats remember, but they also don't understand most words other than their name and a few trained commands so they can't know the reason you're punishing them now for something they did two hours ago.
Good idea on the crate, we had a dog that her crate was her bed also made it way to shit it when needed as she was a Nipper. We kept bedding in it and she loved it.
They will clean themselves. Weve had outdoor cats for years that come in through a cat door, they are never bathed and are perfectly clean. I have no idea how they manage it, but they do, because they clean themselves - it's basically witch craft as far as im concerned.
Family had a male and female cat, both of the same litter and of part Siamese blood. The desexed male cat was rough and tough and when in a bad mood would attack the female or any neighbor's cat. No amount of discipline stopped this behavior, whether physical, verbal, isolation, etc -- except one. Every now and then I pretended to be a stranger, changing my voice and waving my arms about and chasing him at full speed through the house and into the backyard for 2 minutes. He thought his life was about to end. I am sure he often guessed it was me, but he could not stop his fear-flight response. Doing this every month stopped his moods and he almost enjoyed it, while still being scared. Occasionally putting him into a 'wild' environment was the trick. His moods were big moods. I remember lying on the lawn in the Spring sunshine once and he came along and plopped down behind my head and lightly put his two paws on the top of my forehead. Before I knew anything, he stuck his paw's claws into my skin and kicked violently with his backs legs trying to scalp me.
Also, stop with the laser-chasing! Unlike chasing or pouncing on a physical toy, lasers aren't tactile and have no scent. So while it's amusing to watch, it can build frustration and confusion in your cat. And they're probably neurotic enough as it is.
You're right ! I tested laser-chasing once and when my cat understood that he couldn't catch the light, he just looked confused and frustrated. The next day, when i wanted to try it again, he showed no interest in the "game". He knew that he couldn't touch it bc it was just light ;-; I felt like i was just annoying him so i stopped xD they are more smart and sensitive than we think (sorry for my english)
I don't do this anymore because I felt bad, but it actually can be done without frustrating your cat. You play with the laser and your cat for her to get out energy and after a time, have someone place a treat in the spot where you last point the laser. Then be done once they find the treat.
1. My cat doesn't like to be left alone. 2. I just say NO and he knows. 3. He likes to sleep in there 4. No, he needs a bath because of my allergies, and he gets cleaned shedding hair 5. My cat doesn't mind the scruff hold 9. My cat likes chicken bones. I never give him something he can't handle 10. I'd never. I think its important too, to occasionally be a jerk to your cat. Take a toy away, shove them off the couch for no reason, etc. Not to be mean. But to be *relatable.* Almost without fail, every cat i've been an occasional jerk to, becomes more affectionate. Instead of trying to get your cat to understand *your* language, make an effort to communicate in theirs. Hiss when they are playing with you too rough, point out birds out the window by exaggeratingly staring at them. Things like that. And yeah, be a jerk for no reason sometimes. You'll see them get more affectionate and relaxed. Because you might be some hairless giant abomination that walks on its hind legs, but you *cat* with the best of them. This applies to all animals. Got a mean goat that likes ramming your knees? Put on a football helmet and give him a good headbutt. Instant respect. I'm not saying hurt or be mean to animals. You are stronger and you need to keep it to an equivalent, non-injurious level. But animals understand certain actions and behaviours. Its how they communicate with each other. And once you've shown that *you* understand as well, rather than being the oddity that feeds them, or the incomprehensible warden of their jail, you'll be seen as an equal.

Just rub cat neck then done
This is a fabulous list of terrible things done to cats daily in the name of love through utter ignorance. Things that needed to be said!
This is basically how I treat my cat. The only real exception is the dry food. I've tried wet food with her, but she won't eat it. But I give her a lot of cold water from the refrigerator-she loves that.
I don't do any of these to hurt my cat, thank god I knew when I got a cat or it would've been a trip to the vet.
Exactly like my siamese - likes when u carry him around. Once i stop he wants to go away
mine too. my baby loves to carried around and snuggled. she likes her belly rubbed too.
Same lol
If they love be held then u don't need to stop doing it
Cats love having their bellies rubbed but only from people they trust.
Thanks!
Also just having plenty of cat scratching posts. I have many that can be easily hidden when guests come over.
jeezzzz
@@CupCaked my fur baby thinks aluminum foil is a toy. She loves it so much that if I leave it over some food and not pay attention she will steal it and run off with it. It’s highly amusing and entertaining but I have to pick it up all over the place afterwards. Of course I’ll let her. She’s my baby, 😸
Some cats LOVE being held and cradled. My cats do! They are always jumping into my arms, even climb up my body when I'm standing, because they want to be held. I think this depends on how young they were socialized, and how they were raised. My cats also like to sleep in bed with us.
Mine do all the loving stuff ,sleep in bed and all just don`t touch it`s tummy even when she shows it , she`s a cupcake until then.
Love this...I work with Cats and it's always a good thing to know more and educated about it.
Thanks 😻
Thanks so much for sharing this!
We've had cats since I was 10 years old (46 years). We've never bathed them. They don't need bathing, unless they get into something seriously dirty (oil, sprayed by a skunk, fleas etc.). Generally we leave kitties alone unless they want loving. When you live with a cat, it's all about them and what they want, not what the humans want.
true that. they spend all their time sleeping all day. then go out to roam. i bathe my cat once and she loved it.

After a few minutes, he jumps down and does it again. When he doesn't want that, he just jumps right into my lap.
But remember, don’t cradle them UNLESS you have a certain breed, some breeds like to be cradled. Such as a ragdoll cat.

I’ve played the same game with my cats! They seem to love it! I don’t even need to make noise, they know I’m hiding and come running to play!
I'm playing hide and seek with my cat too and sometimes she is hiding and calling for me to seek her and when I get close where she is hiding she jumps out to scare me I love it
My cat loves this game too! ☺️

Cat had freedom and peace for a little while at least before died
Anyone who declaws a cat should be thrown out on hot coals with no shoes on!. People do horrendous things to their pets thinking it's for their own good - but it's really for the owners own good. These people shouldn't have animals if it means altering the animal's natural being.

Just found your channel and I want to say, THANK YOU FOR THESE! Especially not declawing your cat. That is actual mutilation. Just a couple of reasons, but yeah, the claws are an extension of the animal. It would be like us chopping our fingers off, we'd be useless and defenseless.

Our kitty loves being cradled with belly rubs and loves a bath actually jumps in shower
If your cat tries to steal your food from a cupboard means u re starving poor animal. Shame on u
@@bambinaforever1402 my cat only steal food from the pantry cause thats where we keep his catnip lol, it doesn't mean they're starving, it just means that you have something in your pantry that they want. Like catnip. My cat also goes after the bacon bits we keep in there too.
A few of these are flat out stupid. They may apply to a few cats, but definitely not all cats.
Me Too!
Water near the food has been no problem for my cats and they seem to love water too.😻
Thank you so so much for letting me know this!❤
Very useful facts. Brilliant and helpful. I understand my little baby,s behaviour. She is the princess of the house and gets away with everything.
Cats very wonderful and very beautiful and very nice and so happy

Declawing shouldnt even be legal
Agree with most of these "tips". We do clip our cat's claws. It is like trimming your fingernails. It really helps with the "play" clawing behavior.
Clipping is different than de-clawing. Clipping your cat's nails once in a while is perfectly fine, and needs to be done. De-clawing on the other hand is taking off the claws altogether. Which is cruel and evil.
Thank you for that clarification.
@@izivity4530 No need to cut their claws at all lol

I only shout at my dog when facing a dangerous situation and I need him to freeze, for example.

If they get out, it’s your fault for keeping a door open. Watch him/her & make sure he/she doesn’t get far. It’s not hard.
Re: Essential oils
I panicked when I heard that, because I use the plug-ins and wax melts that contain essential oils and I have used them for years.
Its a lie
Thanks for this info. I didn't know that. The only scent my cat goes crazy over is Lavender. He just can't get enough. I use an essential oil diffuser and am planning on getting a wax melt fireplace next month. I think I'll stop using my oil diffuser. I actually find your information to be very helpful.
My cat is 17, Really old and would never play with a toy, drink from a water fountain, or go for walks.

"Dont bathe them"
"Dont put clothes on them"
Me with hairless cats:🤨
LMAOO

Once in a while I’ve actually had to give her a squirt of the water but usually it’s just the site of it.
tip: spray bottles are mostly not meant for spraying at the cat
Very helpful. Thank you!

I find it sad that declawing was even invented, I love cats and new that was bad to declaw them when I was younger. I even wrote a report on it
all fun and games until your cats use their long claws while playing with you, they can hurt you pretty badly, cats claw can be cut if they are raised at home, they won't need to use it at home to defend themselves or to hunt, however outside cats do need their claw and it should not be trimmed, the long claw can also be irritating to cats that's why they try scratching with them and it can be harmful to many things in your house, cat can rip curtains, sofa, etc.

The good news is, LASER POINTERS WEREN'T ON THE LIST!
That was very informative I have always loved cats, but it's good to know the dos and donts
@@elysiansoulenlightenment8566 you are right. 👍

There's no reason to clip a cat's claws.
My other favorite dressing up your pet. While everyone is laughing and think it’s, “ so cute,” the animal is miserable. : (
So you should.
I live in a country where vets refuse to declaw cats because it causes both psychological and physical problems (the paw needs claws for support and declawing can cause arthritis)
I suggest you look for a very docile breed (British shorthair, Ragdoll etc) and you can forget about declawing.
More than 70% of all these actions are exactly how I treat my cat every day

19. "Cats live in the moment. They dont associate something from the past with a punishment from the present."

This is really good advice for people with zero cat experience!

Please stay out of the monkey house... the last thing the internet needs is a video of a man getting into a poop flinging war with monkeys
@@ku8721 I would NEVER get into a poop flinging contest with a monkey!
My output is just too subpar. 😋
But alpacas everywhere flinch when i clear my throat. 😏
Lmao football helmet duel 🤣
Good list.
I hate those videos where people startle their cats with cucumbers or whatever. It makes me want to take that cucumber and smack the cat-owner around with it. I could have said worse...
