Institutes like IIMs and IITs also give preference to these Foreign (USA/Europe etc. ) PhD holders in faculty recruitment.

Nothing like that, in our IIT Madras, this year (2022-2023) 5 assistant professor got recruited, all did PhD from India.
But post doc, it is mandatory to do from abroad.

@@maharanagguj6191 Kishor is right ...Not applicable for IITs (science/engineering dept), Top 2 IIMs have strong preference for foreign desi PhD students irrespective of zero publications...Indian PhD in all IIMs and other Indian universities for social science (Economics and allied subjects) get negligible resources and exposures compared to western peers...... The western ones have edge especially in terms of networking and resources which lead to their significant superior research output ...... Although the good Desis do not return back to India ......Majority of the ones returning back are not able to publish in desired journals and are not able to convert their tenure (generally they are given 3 to 6 years' time to publish at least one to two papers in desired set of journals.) ........

@@Philoshoper-OOO Pros and cons you can discuss for hours, but the truth is PhD means PhD... Cons of foreign universities
1] An Indian student studying in India has at least 2 years to find a job & convert his/ her PhD to part-time, abroad there are no such options because the student does not have work authorisation and is not allowed to convert visa due to immigration laws.
2] If they are not from the top 500 (even the best newly established uni), they need to clear NET for teaching positions.
3] PhD disqualifies (mostly PhDs become 30+) them from all non-teaching/research govt job exams,
4] My friends have joined govt professor jobs with just a master's after passing exams, but foreign students don't get such opportunity.
5] ABVP and AISA goons have more relevant networks in Indian uni when compared to the Nobel Lectorate.
6] The stipend offered is mostly lower than minimum wages (Postdoc salary could be compared with construction workers and PhD with delivery man). If a person matches his/ her lifestyle with the poor working class then they might get enough savings to fund their post-study work visa. 7] For a middle-class Indian, it is difficult to survive even 1 year of extension (many of them submit MPhil). In India, I know many students who take 1.5-2 yrs of extension.
8] Finding a job and survival is not difficult for a PhD (anywhere on the planet), Postdoc and publications are the worst career choices one can make. Smart students never look at academia as a career. Everyone's life is different, they make their own choices due to personal circumstances. Some go back to India due to loneliness, parents, responsibilities, and service of the country, and many of them do not go because they do not think they can sell their achievements in the world's most populous and competitive job market, get comfortable, or get tenured jobs. Many of them start dating locals & family commitments stop them from going back. 5-6 years is a long time and many things change. It's life, if you choose a PhD you get paused in life but not everything.

Indians are first-class citizens ruled by third-class politicians.
Yeh, baat toh hai ki pay grade aacha hona chahiye.

Foreign ka PhD scholarship waha ke expenses ke hisaab se koi khaas high nahi hoti. PhD karne se koi dher saara paise nahi kamaata. Par uske balboote par expertise, patience aur ethics sikhna zaruri hai.
IIT se PhD karne ke baad maine foreign se postdoc ki.. ab main foreign mein faculty hoon. Isliye, India ki PhD behtareeen hai, aisa mera maanna hai.

Not agree with your personal views. In India institutes like IISER IIT CSIR DRDO DAE has cutting age instruments. For doing research their is no restrictions you can do excellent work. However most of the time you are talking about money, in that case you have to compare expenses abroad including flight, accomodation and all. In India getting fellowship is much easier than getting outside. Amount of fellowship is much better than expenses occurred. Do not misguide students based on your own views. For earning lot of money industry is best option than PhD.
Main issue in India is our old mindset and it's slowly changing it will take time. However for quality of research we are far ahead.

Quality of research is 💩 in India. PhD in India is infamous for its corruption, data manipulation, politics and toxic work culture. In case it's a troll account, in foreign countries you have better infrastructure, work life balance, exposure and JRFs are allowed to have a life outside work

It seems like you more interested towards money than doing proper research. If someone's interest is earning then he should go for job or start his/her own business. Btw people from India even from central universities also doing preety good in research. This video is only putting negative impact towards student.

    • @vivekpal368

Brother.. When your friends are earning in lakhs doing job in IT sector. And you are doing a novel work doing research at such a minimum stipend. Money always crosses your mind now and then... If govt cannot pay more atleast they should keep the flow of fellowship regular.. Research don't receive their scholarships for many consecutive months.. And majority of researchers are in their late 20's
So saying if money is your concern then do job not research is a bit rude.
