Eurasian Linnet (Linaria cannabina/Carduelis cannabina) male & female

Linnets are rather shy. Probably why only birdwatchers are aware of their existense (in Finland). The male is rather colorful.

The red colour does not come from the food (like it does for flamingoes). It fades towards the winter and returns in the spring, but is probably not related to seeds the bird eats.
