Never Run Out of Ideas for Abstract Paintings Again!

- Hi everyone, have you ever ran out of ideas to paint? I know I have and it can be very frustrating. So what do you do to get the creativity flowing again? In this week's video I share one way to get your brush moving again.
Abstracts are all around us, if you know where to look. And magazines are full of great abstract designs just waiting to be discovered. Sometimes it can be difficult to find those hidden compositions and that's where my 'view finder' comes into play.
Do you have a different way to find ideas? I'd love to hear it! Please share it in the comments. As always, if you have any questions, topics you'd like me to discuss, or anything else, please reach out or leave them in the comments too. Don't forget to like and subscribe and ring the bell to be notified whenever I post a new video.
Hugs,
Gwen

This may be the best lesson I have ever had! thanks for making it simple!
It has saved me many times when looking for a design.....
Gwen thank you once again for simplifying the procedure of finding a composition from a design and how to bring it together by using your own feelings of composing shapes and vol or making it into your own. Bless you for another great exercise.❤
Just come across your videos and enjoying your way of teaching, this is a great idea, thank you for sharing 😊
Wow, this is a revelation in coming up with ideas for abstracts. Thank you so much 🙂

Thank you! Great idea!
This was the guidance I desperately needed! I could use more guidance on how to know if it works or not.
Genius idea thank you Gwen. I’m excited to try this!!!
Thanks for this great demonstration! Would love to see how it becomes a painting. You are a wonderful teacher!
Thank you so much....you just made my day!!!
Thanks. Now I understand why you never liked anything I ever did. Totally different wavelengths. You made me feel that I was not an artist so I gave up trying years ago. Now, in my old age, I want to try again. Flowers, forests, landscapes were my inspirations. Check out Richard McKinley, Albert Handell and Elizabeth Mowry. Mowry is the one who inspired me to try again. So kind and encouraging.
Never in all my years of teaching have I discouraged anyone from being the artist they want to be.
Thank you
Wow! Great idea!
This was very helpful. I use a viewfinder on my larger play paintings to find smaller ones I can cut out. But I haven’t tried to use it to find composition ideas in magazines. And…lol…when as you moved it over to the stool legs I said, “Oooooo!” out loud to myself, and then you did the same thing :) Thanks for the lesson!
Love the idea of using a matte window to isolate areas on a page! Thanks for endless inspiration.
