I'm no website developer, but hypothetically speaking, couldn't Roblox develop a new website built from the ground up with new code, while bringing over player/user data to the new site. I get it's easier said than done, but if by a 0.001% chance someone who has more knowledge than I do about this sees this comment, I'd like to know how feasible that idea is, and if something like this is inevitable in the long run, as the current Roblox website will only get older with more and more bugs and game-breaking issues. I also had experienced some glitches, my profile depicted some random players after and my 3d view avatar on the profile was also of another different person. I didn't really mind it at that time, but now I regret not screenshotting that glitch.
I think the issue with the chat filter is that they are planning to release a new chat system/gui soon. I cannot guarantee this bc they aren't verifying it yet...

I'd like to share my experience: I was playing roblox normally last night, before we get into the more advanced things, in games I played some players looked like noobs but their player avatar was different. Now, this was no exploiter, here's how I know: I joined multiple games with the same results. Then, suddenly, when I went onto the home page I got a Error 503. This normally means that your browser can't access the roblox servers. I refreshed and it was the normal home page without loaded games. After a few refreshes it was back to normal, but that was scary.
Yeah lol, I was really confused because I started randomly turning into a noob while playing games, and I thought the game was bugging out, turns out it was ROBLOX just being buggy.
roblox could either keep making the code break and make the website day every couple of months, or just shut it down for some time, and remake most of the code with a high chance of it NOT crashing again

I agree with you, just not necessary the user data. The user data are typically stored a databased hosted by servers, basically giant storage/computing devices, which could really easily be transfer over once they finished everything. The only problem is that modernizing the roblox code would take a long time like you said.
@@extoration8323 perhaps, im not an expert either but i do believe it is hard to transfer data because what ever numerals the data uses, will differ depending on the websites new and old engines and scripts and etc. which is why it would be very hard, they would have to rewrite 2 million peoples roblox data into a new website. 4:01 thats blockate, its a building game. its basically like roblox but in roblox. A player can make a world in the game and build there. They have a wide range of commands to customize their worlds. Those ! symbols are from the !sign command. its basically a sign. so thats not an error symbol, hope this helps

Crazy how Minecraft is old and doesn't crash all the time and they keep updating... Not comparing Roblox to Minecraft, never really play Minecraft, but it's still able to get played.
I feel like their servers are "fine" (As in they run) but, the constant player traffic, plus the sheer ammount of players may be heating up the servers..? I know those things would have to be hot enough to cook raw chicken if you were given the chance. It may be overheating to such a point that the "failsafe" (If they have one) prob has to shut down to cook off. Dont get me wrong their servers could be better, way better. One solution would be better heatsinks, fans, all that stuff. Another would be the previous one, with the addition of seperate server rooms for roblox fuctions. These being maybe... Primary (Chat, Website, and Experiences), Secondary (Catalog, Groups, and Avatars) Tertiary (Studio, and External Functionality). The final one off the top of my mind would be to improve maintence for their servers, hire better technicians, engineers, and yes the obligitory get better servers. Their website deterioration is probably due to how old the website is, if you didnt know (correct me if im wrong) code, and software begins to corrupt at a steady rate after extended use of said code. An example of this would be how files on windows computers corrupt over time. Not to mention adding random crap every other day. I dont know much about computer science YET, but it is probably ALOT more than what people are saying it is. These were my ramblings thanks for coming to my TED Talk.
What you said is all agreeable, coming from a computer science student myself. What you have said about the constant player traffic is mostly correct but I just wanted to add a couple things. Yes, the huge amount of people could heat up the servers, it'll be very similar to a DDOS attack (attack where multiple devices send huge amounts of packages to the ROBLOX servers causing it to shut down) but normally speaking, the servers could probably handle that (besides that Chipotle Event). But they definitly do need to upgrade their servers, or at least purchase a bit more to evenly spread out the process needed.
I also agree, I’m not sure about this but with other games you need to create your own servers, but with Roblox, they create the servers for you which means they need to support A LOT more traffic than other multiplayer games. Other multiplayer games may have some official servers, but not nearly as much
Roblox is fixed for me, and i think it depends on the country that you are on and you have to wait. Idk.... And some people are experiencing lagging so much like 1k ping. And i usually get 100 - 200 because i never get 50 below so yeah that's it.

Hey guys. Just to clear up any confusion, I'll try to summarize what happened in a way that's easy to understand. FYI I work at Apple now but have had multiple jobs at Roblox and still like to come back and check up on things. The bottom line is it has nothing to do with bad code or the website itself - it's that Roblox is just becoming more popular than it could imagine and simply doesn't have enough server capacity to handle it. According to Roblox's blog post, the problem doesn't have anything to do with the website. It doesn't even have anything to do with any algorithms or any mechanics in the backend. I'll try to explain what they said so it's easy to understand. It appears to be an issue with a data streaming service (Consul) which they use to replicate the data across multiple databases in case one fails. Consul takes one stream of data and replicates it across multiple servers - this means that if Consul were to go down, data would not go anywhere. They attribute a 'new feature' being turned on during abnormally high read and writes to the database (either looking up data or adding data) to Consul failing. This new feature was an update pushed by Consul itself that they didn't test properly on devices running older versions of drivers they still support. There's other mentions of this as well so I assume this update caused some servers to 'switch' to a backup route instead of using the new update's path. In doing so, the server's CPU capacity dropped drastically and probably shut down. The problem with this is more pressure was placed on the other servers and surprisingly Roblox's database didn't fail - a database used internally inside Consul did. This internal database acted like a command book for the other servers. When that failed, the other servers didn't know what to do, got confused, and shut down. Based on what limited information they provided, the issue doesn't look like it was entirely Roblox's fault. Consul pushed an update that they didn't test on older hardware that used incompatible drivers which was the route of the failure. Obviously, Roblox's servers seem to be running at maximum capacity, though, because otherwise traffic could've been diverted and balanced into other routes while the engineers tried to solve the problem. This one event caused so many problems afterwards and the engineers seemed unprepared. But it appears that the failures have nothing to do with the website or code and are actually just because of strain on the hardware itself. I imagine they could upgrade their database system to something more efficient to handle faster read/writes but other than that, they really just need to get more servers around the world and have better alternate routes in case something fails so Roblox isn't always inches from failing.
I never use the leave button. I always use the X. I was very unaware of the severe lag and freezing that happens from clicking the Leave button to leave.
However, when you posted this video, I was sleeping, the first time I saw it was when I got back from school and reviewed TH-cam Now the website should be okay, the likes and dislikes ratio in percents is showing now, there isn't difficulties joining games.
the obby styled game is called world block or whatever and those error signs are actually information signs that the owner of that obby can change the text, also the owner of the obby is the owner of one of the games in that game.
I guess I should mention it, Roblox went down for over 24 hours, it started with chat filter causing major website issues, Roblox would come back, but face a datastore problem, which then the Chat filter failed again, and, in an attempt to fix the filter, they crashed the website, or at least I assume that’s what happened. The reason it lasted 24 hours was the like percentages not displaying for basically 6 or 7 hours, idk how it would take that long to fix, but... that’s what happens, I guess…
ROBLOX definitely would have the needed resources to do this, but they just don't want to. I can understand that there is probaly a few terabytes of data to transfer but it would be a much needed change.
Roblox website is poorly coded and it might be any huge updates, events or popular game like Adopt me, Brookhaven or Sonic Simulator. It's not about the games. I belive it's poorly coded without any backup plan. Roblox should fix their website or revert Roblox website.
To play roblox(i figured it out but its only for pc players), so if you wanna play roblox only if you have like a pc or you play in pc, you need to go to your profile(cause sometimes it lets you go to your profile) then scroll then go to favorites then you can play your favorite games but you cant search anything so you have to go to your favorites in your profile. (hope it helps for pc gamers) (ok i think it also works on mobile players)

I think my theory is that roblox keeps adding new updates but there isn't enough storage for them to add it and then something breaks becuase the website can't handle it. Such as them adding a new feature and they would have to remove something for it to work. Becuase if they don't. The website will cause errors and glitch. I think what roblox needs to do is remove stuff that people don't like or don't use very often.

Hey guys. Just to clear up any confusion, I'll try to summarize what happened in a way that's easy to understand. FYI I work at Apple now but have had multiple jobs at Roblox and still like to come back and check up on things. The bottom line is it has nothing to do with bad code or the website itself - it's that Roblox is just becoming more popular than it could imagine and simply doesn't have enough server capacity to handle it.
According to Roblox's blog post, the problem doesn't have anything to do with the website. It doesn't even have anything to do with any algorithms or any mechanics in the backend. I'll try to explain what they said so it's easy to understand. It appears to be an issue with a data streaming service (Consul) which they use to replicate the data across multiple databases in case one fails. Consul takes one stream of data and replicates it across multiple servers - this means that if Consul were to go down, data would not go anywhere. They attribute a 'new feature' being turned on during abnormally high read and writes to the database (either looking up data or adding data) to Consul failing. This new feature was an update pushed by Consul itself that they didn't test properly on devices running older versions of drivers they still support. There's other mentions of this as well so I assume this update caused some servers to 'switch' to a backup route instead of using the new update's path. In doing so, the server's CPU capacity dropped drastically and probably shut down. The problem with this is more pressure was placed on the other servers and surprisingly Roblox's database didn't fail - a database used internally inside Consul did. This internal database acted like a command book for the other servers. When that failed, the other servers didn't know what to do, got confused, and shut down.
Based on what limited information they provided, the issue doesn't look like it was entirely Roblox's fault. Consul pushed an update that they didn't test on older hardware that used incompatible drivers which was the route of the failure. Obviously, Roblox's servers seem to be running at maximum capacity, though, because otherwise traffic could've been diverted and balanced into other routes while the engineers tried to solve the problem. This one event caused so many problems afterwards and the engineers seemed unprepared. But it appears that the failures have nothing to do with the website or code and are actually just because of strain on the hardware itself. I imagine they could upgrade their database system to something more efficient to handle faster read/writes but other than that, they really just need to get more servers around the world and have better alternate routes in case something fails so Roblox isn't always inches from failing.

I guess I should mention it, Roblox went down for over 24 hours, it started with chat filter causing major website issues, Roblox would come back, but face a datastore problem, which then the Chat filter failed again, and, in an attempt to fix the filter, they crashed the website, or at least I assume that’s what happened.
The reason it lasted 24 hours was the like percentages not displaying for basically 6 or 7 hours, idk how it would take that long to fix, but... that’s what happens, I guess…

ROBLOX definitely would have the needed resources to do this, but they just don't want to. I can understand that there is probaly a few terabytes of data to transfer but it would be a much needed change.
Roblox website is poorly coded and it might be any huge updates, events or popular game like Adopt me, Brookhaven or Sonic Simulator. It's not about the games. I belive it's poorly coded without any backup plan. Roblox should fix their website or revert Roblox website.

To play roblox(i figured it out but its only for pc players), so if you wanna play roblox only if you have like a pc or you play in pc, you need to go to your profile(cause sometimes it lets you go to your profile) then scroll then go to favorites then you can play your favorite games but you cant search anything so you have to go to your favorites in your profile.

I think my theory is that roblox keeps adding new updates but there isn't enough storage for them to add it and then something breaks becuase the website can't handle it. Such as them adding a new feature and they would have to remove something for it to work. Becuase if they don't. The website will cause errors and glitch. I think what roblox needs to do is remove stuff that people don't like or don't use very often.
