It was just remastered and enhanced while adding a few more characters, features, and items that couldn't fit in with the Wii U which I can understand. The cartridges have more space compared to the discs and the Switch is more powerful than the Wii U with more advance technology.

But when they made the switch version, they needed more content so people who had the original game would have a reason to buy the new one, as well as fixing complaints with the original. They will definitely make a new mario kart on nintendo switch, but i highly doubt it will be called mario kart 9.

Louis Juvet I believe he does not use an emulator, he uses CTGP. But yes, the dolphin emulator is free and safe. Just be careful that you are downloading the right things and make sure your computer is good enough.
