    I passed the first two rounds of the embassy track this year and i’m currently waiting to hear back from the different universities. Ewha GSIS is one of the schools i applied too, I still have no idea which school i would choose if i was to be accepted in all three but honestly your youtube channel is really starting to make the scale tip in favor of Ewha. Your videos are incredibly helpful and informative. Thank you for your hard work :)

      @@xoxo_xoxo9 You will probably have to check with the GKS office about specific qualifications, but my guess is that it would not automatically disqualify you from applying (unless they have a very strict policy). You would probably have to make a very strong case about why you are pursuing a second master's, though, and perhaps why you would want to pursue a second master's rather than a Ph.D. Best wishes!

They should have some course listings for their major, so you can get an idea about what courses are essential and what resources (textbooks, articles, etc.) they utilize for the course. My personal feeling is that if it's "management," there may be some business courses that might be helpful as well. P.S. I'm so glad my video made it to your feed! I only took 1 and a half year studying International Tourism Management and now, I am currently a supervisor in a BPO company. Hello Hannah! First of all, thank you for making such useful GKS videos. I recently passed my embassy interview in Singapore and am waiting for the second and third round results. I am applying to the doctoral in international studies program - would you advise that I reach out to professors of my selected universities with a research proposal to increase my chances of acceptance? All three universities I have applied to don’t seem to need a research proposal sent in as part of the application, which is easy but oddly unsettling for me! Would appreciate if you could kindly advise what a prospective doctoral student should do. Thank you! :)

    • @DARITVKOREA
      @DARITVKOREA 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Congratulations on getting through the embassy interview! Reactions from professors can be really mixed if you are planning to reach out to faculty members individually. Some might appreciate them, but others do not. My advice would be to put any helpful information (such as research plans/proposals, even if this was not requested by the department) in the application materials themselves. This way, they can be reviewed by all reviewers. For doctoral students, I would definitely recommend this (and as you mentioned, it does feel odd that this is not required by the universities you are planning to apply to). If you feel that your interests align specifically with a particular professor, I don't think it would hurt to add this in your proposal. Best wishes!

      @kylerong2481 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DARITVKOREA thank you so much for the prompt response! I only dedicated 2 pages of the study plan to my research proposal when I submitted them to the embassy - did not fill in the research proposal section per se as it said it was only for research students. In hindsight I should have!
      I did mention all the professors I would like to work with from the respective universities. Fingers crossed I’ve done enough for the universities to consider me as a doctoral student even without a full-fledged research proposal. As per your advice perhaps it’s not that wise to reach out to the professors individual now - although I’m still sitting on the fence as to whether to give it a shot as I’m worried about it doing more good than harm! 😩😩😩

      Hello! For GKS, you might have to check directly with the GKS program and possibly follow up with queries to the university/department in question. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to provide any authoritative word on that. For other scholarships, I am generally aware of graduate-level scholarships (like POSCO Asia Fellowship), but I believe medicine is excluded from the area of study. If you feel you are very qualified to pursue such a degree at a Korean university, you can also research to see if there are university-level scholarships available for foreign students. Each university is different, so please be sure to do an exhaustive review!

      @DARITVKOREA 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For any administrative questions (where to submit forms, how to complete documents, etc.), you should definitely get in touch with the GKS program. Most universities/administrative offices are not experts, especially as guidelines are subject to change. In terms of evaluation, as you know, for both embassy and university track, there are two filters (the university and NIIED). If you apply via university track, the university may accept you, but I heard it’s possible that the NIIED may reject the application. I noticed several students reaching out to professors directly, but this actually puts professors in a tricky situation since professors cannot vouch for you academically/professionally (because it’s likely you have never met) and they normally cannot (and should not) give you a guarantee for acceptance. My advice is to let your application speak for itself and if you really want to reach out to professors to send greetings and express interest (with no request for recommendations/acceptance), that is up to you. My experience is that some professors welcome emails, while others do not. ^^ Wishing you all the best!
