      @@purplecloud2828 absolutely, the few tiny homes they built nobody can get approved for then they rent them out for $2500 a month... And the so called affordable apartments go for the same and you gotta have a 650 which nobody coming from off the streets or a situation has that... Plus a whole bunch of other ways they suck the funding up

The fact is it has allowed people with addiction and mental illness to avoid getting actual help. I'm a addict I've been clean 6 years and I'm positive it would not have happened if I was living in a area where it was normalized and funded.

    00:54 "Well whyyy was this not done before?" --> Because the case was being heard in the 9th district court and then SCOTUS. So, of course local and state governments will not waste tax payer money by taking sweeping action until they are sure their efforts won't just be undone immediately by a court..... How do you not know this as a journalist?
    01:08 "I don't even know anymore because its so hard to keep track of." --> It's actually, literally your job to know, monitor and report the facts to inform people. It's also not that complicated.... Fox 11 LA is a *PATHETIC* excuse for a news organization when they have their anchors and contributors saying things like this. You can also tell she thinks she is entitled to her arrogant frustration. No, you're a major part of the problem, because you don't do your job correctly and you don't care. Do your job properly, inform the public, or step aside for someone who actually cares.

So now the state is filled with slumlords and vastly overpriced housing where the slumlords are getting rich by price gouging. And of course there's no such thing as a living wage in this country. @justsayingfax that's my point. It's an industry. They budget 1.1 billion to the homeless, but now you have whole divisions of workers and 3 party business's that need to be taken care of. Now you have a catch 22 industry like big pharma, if they actually fixed the problem, they'd put themselves out of jobs and business. So nobody involved in working on the homeless epidemic actually has any interest in fixing it.

    The ideal situation is where these homeless people are resettled in state-funded shelters (housing) away from the public gaze and are, simultaneously, provided vocational training (where applicable) and health services (where applicable). The burden, of course, must fall on the tax payers. The first duty of government is to care for the people by providing them basic social services when they are unable to help themselves.

    California should be doing what NYC has done, and force these folks to live together in abandoned buildings, aka shelters, where they make their own place. It's the most populous state, they're going to have the most homeless. Bussing them out of state has ruined multiple states now. They need to get more serious about a short term solution, which may become long term, that makes being homeless less desirable. Because you can "camp" there year round.

    • @ginoloui5452
      @ginoloui5452 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @sebatinfo1904 No, it actually comes from our open-air drug policy here in California. People don't just start shitting on the sidewalk and engaging in arguments with invisible people because they fell on hard economic times. That's why the term "unhoused" is mostly full of shit. They would have you believe that housing prices pushed these people onto the streets. Now don't get me wrong, the economic situation in California is beyond bad, especially the cost of buying a home or renting. There are definitely some people on the streets due to poverty, not saying there aren't. What I am saying is that 95% of the people on the streets are there because of drugs and/or mental illness. All you have to do is walk by an encampment to see for yourself. And you're still not convinced, take some time to try and talk to some of these people. They will tell you the un-politically tainted truth of why they ended up on the street. Many will tell you flat out that they choose to be there as opposed to a sobriety enforced shelter, so that they can continue their drug usage. And if you don't care to put in the time to find out the truth from them directly, then you're just being disingenuous when feining concern for them, and really just trying to temp down any internal guilt you have about the entitled life that most of us lead.
