Thank you! - a tip from another commenter about connecting to my computer which gives an audible clue when the tablet is restarting was also very helpful and I have now got back into my tablet
You need to add that the tablet needs to be connected to a computer via usb for this to work, as it doesn't work for a lot of people unless you do this first. Thank you for posting this.

Mine was also stuck on some voice accessibility thing. It kept saying swipe tap, tap twice..ect. I held the power and volume up for 10 seconds and everything came back safe and sound. In fairness she did tell me to do the power and volume up but didn't say to hold it for 10 seconds. That's all it took. It didn't even need factory reset thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you so much!!! In order to get into the factory reset mode I had to plug it into my computer as suggested in the previous comments. The only way it worked for me, after many failed attempts, was when it was plugged in and then it worked on the first try.

This is amazing. Following this took me 1 try. Was setting up the tablet for the first time... I set a pin but after it locked apparently that pin did not work.
This helped so much I did the same thing that the guy did and it worked.I just had to ask my dad for his email because my dad was controlling the tablet
Wouldn’t work until I found that if you have a T-580 with home button you ALSO have to hold the home button down and release all three when the Samsung logo appears.
My tablet is still asking for the pin after the factory reset. Is there any way around this? There are no Google or Samsung accounts associated with the device.
It's odd that I've tried this method continuously in an half hour but i still failed. I found that my tab turns on more slowly than this video after the monitor gets dark. Does anyone have the same problem?

Connect to laptop or PC and it works as described in the video. Worked on 1st try once I finally hooked it to a laptop.
