I was gonna save the melees for last because I dreaded doing them. I got them both to the level needed to start the camos (level 11 maybe?) passively and got them platinum within an hour and a half. I didn’t have fun leveling them up, but I genuinely enjoyed getting the camos. I got the knife gold and halfway through platinum in the same game. Shoot house is a near perfect map for the melees. Getting them done in one or two sittings is absolutely plausible.
in cold war, if you just briefly tapped the shoot/kill button, it would backstab but if you held the button it would execute. So there was a bit of a timing difference, which made it easier to get backstabbers

Knife and riot shield honestly were easy. When I needed my 2 kills I got help from randoms in “hardcore” & I’ve loved it.

I got them platinum about 2 weeks ago. And i gotta say, i thought about how hard it was going to be longer then it actually took to get them done 😂, dont wait and dont swap weapons if your doing bad. Just struggle through it and it will be done in no time

I agree the camo grind for this cod was significantly easy as I already got Orion camo and I let others who is camo grinding farm me for kills depending on what they are working on

I had such fun doin the melee weapons. Went with the knife on a 16 killstreak on hydroelectric. It was such a fun time doing them, I am glad to return for polyatomic
What game mode?
I always run thermite (well, sometimes semtex) just to throw riot shielders with it. I like to pretend I'm a zoo monkey throwing my shit at a guest who feels safe on the other side of my cage bars.
I'd run drill charges, but some people are smart enough to just drop the riot shield when the drill charge hits it. I've never seen someone survive by dropping a riot shield with thermite/semtex stuck to it, though!
Was gonna leave melees for last but i said forget it im gonna do it sooner so i sat down and did knife and shield at same time. I got plat knife and shield in 2hrs 20mins from having no progress and i also had to level up my knife from level 5 before i could even start thats included in the time. So much easier than i thought
I was running through lobbies doing my melee challenges and consistently getting 35+ kills then got hit with sbmm and apparently got put in a cdl tourny and couldn't break 10 kills or even make progress on platinum challenges
Surprised they haven't updated the textures of the gold and platinum on some weapons. They appear flatter than they should look

If you are hitting melee you get finishing move from behind, if you hit “shoot” like a gun it just stabs/riot shields them no matter what. At least for controller that’s how it is

just got the riot shield gold today, almost got the knife plat after 2 games but then I got bored, I had a bunch of people help me with the riot shield too but now I use the mastery camo so people stop
If you use your gun trigger button it’ll always do a regular melee I believe

heres a tip attack and crouch combo when you see someone while sprinting itll pull shield up almost immediately and make you crouch
Currently working on platinum mastery on the shield after doing the knife. My biggest gripe is NOT BEING ABLE TO SLIDE MELEE! I can’t count the times I forget and try to and be killed in the process. It’s second nature after Cold War and MW2019. Stupid stupid decision.
I got all my doubles for both in one game each, it was honestly easier than the regular guns.

Yeah but to be fair you do get shot n the back a lot in this game. Spawns are kinda bad.
They can complete takeover a search game. I think the shield itself is fine in respawn but you’re forced to run the restock perk or you lose your spawn Nade. This takes away fast hands which puts you at a disadvantage to how much faster they will stick you with a throwing knife. Not to mention the jump shot nerf also makes it harder to jump over the shield. I just think even something like the mw19 crossbow is something that should drop on release to have some sort of counter that doesn’t completely change your play style.
