Hey folks! Just a heads up: we originally started this playthrough back in December 2020 on Twitch before Final Cut was released. To watch us play live with Final Cut content added, check us out at twitch.tv/shortonegaming!
Don't be afraid to choose dialogue options that are weird/uncomfortable/things-you-would-never-say-in-real-life. That's kinda what this game is all about...
1:54:32 It was prompted from a successful Espirit de Corps check (so, cop culture), so it could be just as likely to have happened vs _presumed_ to happen by that voice in Kurt Disco’s head.
actually, telling kim about case titles is one of the *few* things that won't embarrass you; he does it, everyone does it, it's apparently common practice with the rcm
One of my favourite things is when the thoughts argue among eachother. One tends to have some "favorites" in a run, and from there you can build your whole experience. For me, it was Drama, Perception, Volition and Encyclopedia. One of my favs to see others go with is the Shivers/Inland Empire combo. I'm excited to see where you all take out friend here.
Volition is the absolute MVP during that part with Klaasje. Though personally, Savoir Faire, Esprit de Corps, and Inland Empire are my favorites. Savoir for that ultraliberal quest. Esprit de Corps because you got to have a side story police drama playing in your head. Inland Empire because it allows you to roleplay as some super detective with a sickass psychic power.
I realise this is a year late but, for Short's benefit I guess? Not the worst English accent I've ever heard but the thing with scouser is its more northern English, so the edges are a bit softer. You mix a touch of Scottish or Irish in there to get it sounding authentic and have a bit of a lilt to it!
Man. I recently started this game and I gotta say. That opening is probably the best one I’ve seen in any game ever. The representation of different parts of you arguing, and the push and pull of staying in darkness or waking up…. It feels so well done.
holy shit, I literally just asked about this yesterday and it is delivered. thank you so much! cant watch it yet but its great to know its here after am done with my play through of the final cut
I'm so excited to watch y'all play this because I've always been curious Disco Elysium. And an hour in, I have literally NO idea what this game is about and I love it 🤣
I'm so glad you're playing this game. The voice acting in this game is incredible so I think for your own enjoyment you should try to let the character do the talking when they do. It may come in the way of commenting, but there's no rush in this game take your time is my advice. It also long but I heartily suggest that you read the detailed info of your every skills to better understand their role in your mind.
I was worried for a moment that you will miss out on karaoke task. Try to succeed on it, it is wort the effort to hear your vast, immense, oceanic soul. And yes, clothes give you buffs to skills. And sometimes penalties. So you might want to switch them around depending on task. Or go with certain style. For the thoughts you collect: you need to click internalize to put them in effect. They will give you various benefits, but sometimes also penalties while you work them over. You might also want to read their flavor text. And skills flavour texts as well.
Seeing them ignore the thought bubbles above their head is so aggravating. They are missing entire conversations and quest lines by not clicking those thought bubble prompts that hover over your characters head.
Agreed. This series is literally unwatchable. On top of what you already mentioned, the three of them are so scatterbrained and I feel like they're barley even focusing on the game. They keep making jokes the whole time, talking over each other, and trying too hard to be funny.
The game doesn't teach you what the bubbles are or how they work. It's quite reasonable that new players will miss the first few. I honestly don't think I've EVER seen a playthrough where none of the early bubbles were missed. Gina figured out how they worked pretty quickly - before they had even left the Whirling-In-Rags - and she didn't miss any after they stepped outside. But even putting that aside... complaining that a person isn't acting like a "completionist" - for this game specifically - feels very antithetical to the game's core themes. The primary fun of the game is derived from exploring the weird options that appeal to you in the moment to see what naturally sprouts from that choice. Feeling *obligated* to choose everything regardless kind of robs that feeling because at that point you're not actually making a choice. It's not a choice if you are going to see everything eventually anyway.
@@Ruminations09 Think the complaint was more that they won’t know they’ve missed it, due to how fully-optional most are. Like, as far as ‘tutorials’ go, the first one is literally finding your own keys in the pockets of pants you just put on. Kind of a ‘needed’ one. While there’s plausibility in not keeping track of every errant ‘thought’ you have, from a viewer’s perspective, it’s content being missed. Even so, they could just ‘not’ go through with completing the mini-quests (like they did/may do with the rum prompt), but what remains is that something got ‘missed,’ and may well have changed what route they took (their rate of gaining experiences/points to level the voices/capability with checks) if it had been caught.
Allison's absolutely right, the guy on the cover looks like Griffin McElroy and I am not going to be able to unsee this, lol Seriously though, this looks like such a cool game and I'm so excited to watch you guys play it! :D Also, Jake mentioned Pathologic, and I think that would be such a cool game for you all to play! It's very story-heavy and strange.
Gina said on twitter that she has played Pathologic, but doesn't want to do an LP of it (at least yet) because the game's been kind of unstable (losing saves and bugs and stuff). I definitely want them to play it sometime, though! ;-;
As someone who's done 3 years of Spanish and 3 semesters of Japanese I know exactly what Allison's talking about!!! It's very embarrassing when you mix up during an oral exam,,,,
I do dislike the seeming tunnel vision they have while playing. I know that, as a viewer, not a player, I'm more likely to see things they don't, but there are flashing icons trying the get your attention. Your sitting on the same screen for minutes at a time discussing how you "don't know what your doing" and making guesses about game mechanics but also not checking the screen to see if its trying to show you something. Especially in a game where the a focus is interacting with your own inner self, it's kind of annoying (to me at least) to see them completely ignore themselves to interact with the world.
TBF this version is better to play as a streamer surely Voices restrict your perception of the character. With just text you can improv a voice for each character and make them your own.
The literal primary game mechanic of this game is that different aspects of your personality are arguing in your head over how you should handle situations. I genuinely struggle to think of a BETTER game to play by committee.

Jules is the best. Started playing a couple weeks ago!🤍 Over!
Twitch doesn't keep videos very long. It certainly didn't keep "The Final Cut". When are you going to upload it to youtube?

Love how when you suggest a title for the current case he’s all “yes that’s awesome, just what u was thinking!”

Ingland Empire is funny one. You can learn that a tie is your best friend

Conceptualization logic and volition where mine in my first run
Been meaning to watch this for ages and honestly your sheer fear and confusion at a scouse accent has made my day

The voice patch now being out helps a LOT. The game is already great but the immersion is MUCH improved.
3:55
Every mildly light-skinned, mostly skinny guy with roundish glasses and short dark hair looks like Griffin McElroy, it is a law of the universe.
holy shit, I literally just asked about this yesterday and it is delivered. thank you so much! cant watch it yet but its great to know its here after am done with my play through of the final cut
Hi, Jody "InspectorClarke" Briggs here relistening to the episode. I love this. Thanks for playing!
short nailing cunos voice was such a treat
Incredible voice acting of Cuno. Cuno’s got this!
What does Cuno care?
I dropped everything I was doing. What a holiday suprise. I am sure it will be a blast. It is truly unique game.

You guys are awesome, really enjoyed this, can't wait for more!
this is a great group of people to play the game haha. love the little discussions you guys have as you experience this game.
That was great Klaasje impression!
Seeing them ignore the thought bubbles above their head is so aggravating. They are missing entire conversations and quest lines by not clicking those thought bubble prompts that hover over your characters head.
Thanks for telling me. Guess I won't be watching this, aggravates me too much :((((

The idea that you were considering TWEWY makes me very happy! Here’s to the hoping you play it in the future (maybe DS version owo).
They just released the final cut version of this! Fully voice acted and absolutely glorious
Allison's absolutely right, the guy on the cover looks like Griffin McElroy and I am not going to be able to unsee this, lol

ooooo this is a nice surprise! And now that it has voice acting, its so much better for lets plays! I'm real curious how your story will unfold
"your skills chime in and tell you what's going to be a success for you"
well yes but no
I love this game!!! such a long ep but oh boy ima get through it. Glad this vid actually showed up in my feed
Update your game guys!
It's now fully voice acted
As someone who's done 3 years of Spanish and 3 semesters of Japanese I know exactly what Allison's talking about!!! It's very embarrassing when you mix up during an oral exam,,,,
Just finished a Thinker run of this last night - now I get to watch you all play! Excited!
A small fun fact! Klassje Amandou's VA is the sailor moon girl from the viral infowars video! It's a wild, yet oddly very fitting casting choice.
It's ashamed this isn't the final cut of the game
Jake's Cuno sounds kinda like he just bought a dead parrot and demanding a refund
I just beat this game! I am very excited to see you play knowing nothing about it! You are in for a treat.
I do dislike the seeming tunnel vision they have while playing. Ahh Cuno's's scouse accent. A thing of beauty. Cuno doesn't fucking care of course.
YESYESYESYES I LOVE DISCO ELYSIUM LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO
first time watching you guys. first off youre hilarious. second off its so funny that you guys pronounced it revakol at first lmfao
If you can, you should really play the new version that just came out.
27:13 I mean, dying in the first room would be a pretty QUICK way to be DONE with the GAME.
This is really funny, because I took the smart but weak archetype and died the first time I talked to Cuno
Chat trolling by telling them to always listen to their skills
Oh Boy! This will be a WILD RIDE!
I really hope you play The World Ends With You. It's my favourite game.
At timestamp2:20:00 ATM, hopefully you go back to Cuno. There is a wonderful, if morally questionable choice you can make in talking to him.
What's up with jake's voice?
I love the French/Russian Kim
Comment to boost :3
Why aren't you playing with full voice acting lmao
This is an upload of a stream from long ago, before the full voiced version came out.
TBF this version is better to play as a streamer surely
Voices restrict your perception of the character. With just text you can improv a voice for each character and make them your own.
this is Disco Elysium, not Disco Elysium: Final Cut
Why is it three hours long
This is a VOD reposted from their twitch channel-- when they stream on there, they stream for much longer.
This is the absolute worst game to play by committee.
*best
a bunch of voices in one person's head making decisions? seems fitting to me
The literal primary game mechanic of this game is that different aspects of your personality are arguing in your head over how you should handle situations.
I genuinely struggle to think of a BETTER game to play by committee.
