Another interesting review Paul. As you know I bought the Eggz ear plugs. I haven't tried the Alpines, but they sound very good too. As a LONG time rider I can say this; DON"T skimp on your ears with cheap foam plugs. I lost significant hearing thinking I would be fine. Paying a heavy price now! With the Eggz btw, and I suspect also the Alpine's, you DO find that fatigue over a long day is much less.
(Hey Paul, on a 'side note', I popped into Ballarat Indian Motorcycles today and I bought that maroon/red Scout Twenty that was on the showroom floor. - THANKS to YOU !!! In one of your video's you mentioned it, so I drove from Melbourne today and bought it. I just wanted to say THANKS !!! Mark said that they will be having a 'Indian weekend' for 3 days from the 22 November, so I may see you there then perhaps. THANKS again Paul.).
Hey that's awesome, congrats and thanks for letting me know! That was the exact bike I was planning to buy before I bought my Chief. I love that whole package, that red is beautiful. I'll be going to that event. Did Mark give you a sticker?
@@BikesILike Yeah, she is BEAUTIFUL. I Love it. I am putting 'white wall tyres' on it too! A sticker??? What 'sticker'? It is early days, I left a 2K deposit yesterday. I want the Scout Twenty registered on Monday the 2nd September. Weather permitting, I'll see you at the event Paul. Regards.
I have the standard set and have to moisten them to get them in. They’re good for about an hour or so then they start to irritate my ear hole. I’m now trying the loop style plugs and have no problems with them and they are only the generic ones sold on eBay.
I bought a set of alpines a few years ago , but haven't used a lot due to being to hard to remove . It looks like the newer models now have a small protrusion to grab onto .
Air pods pro 2 use with noise cancellation on . Wear a readily available thin motorcycle balaclava , apart from soaking up sweat in the summer , and being warm in winter , the balaclava keeps the AirPods in place , especially when taking the helmet off. I also wear a motorcycle hoodie jacket , You can listen to music or podcasts through the AirPods at reasonable volume also. However I do ride a Honda Transalp with a higher screen , so the noise is ok to start with. But I believe the AirPods Pro 2 AirPods reduce wind noise by 40 per cent . You can still hear the engine but it is quieter. And you can take calls through Siri , and have messages read out and replied to . Much better than ear plugs in my opinion.
Paul l was recently diagnosed with level 2 autism and will be getting a set of Loop Ear Buds. I strongly suggest you have a look at them as they are adjustable to cancel different levels of noise.
@@steven_scattergood Im asking because I take the train everyday for around 45 minutes and the sound really started to hurt me, the trains even produce treble sounds when the metal is screeching on the tracks, so I was wondering if these loop earplugs where worth it or maybe I should take alpine motosafe race.
@ I think that the Loops are great and actually do work. Have a look at their website as they now have adjustable db settings and can still have a conversation. I found a pair of $5 ear plugs from the spa centre to be okay also. I tend to go for ear wear that are specifically designed for noise reduction levels rather than noise blockers. There are quite a few autistic people who road test the Loops on TH-cam. Just keep it in your thoughts that anything you place in your ears to reduce noise may feel like fingers in your ears if you are sensitive. For me Bose makes incredible noise cancelling ear wear that you can listen to music with. Loops do have a period of time you can return the product if unhappy. I have personally stayed away from ear buds made for motorcycle ‘race wear’ and preferred products that are designed for everyday wear. Hope this helps.🇦🇺👍
I bought the Motosafe Race plugs last year and they are the best investment I've ever made in motorcycling. The totally changed my view on riding. I don't even used to travel with my bike because noise was unbearable. This is now a thing of the past. BTW, the Race model is not road legal in my country, but I don't care, I still hear anything that may be dangerous as I do with no plugs. The Tour model (the one with black tips instead of red) is road legal but worthless, very weak.
I've used the alpines for 2 years, and I am happy with them. But don't buy the tour version: they are no use, better ride without, since they seem to amplify the noise. Only the race version works.
Im one of these stupid riders thats been riding for 10+ years without wearing earplugs and ironically have been looking into these types of things recently, i think this might be the way I go as well. I like to listen to music when I ride long distance so the foam always was a no go for me. Side note Indian Chief is ordered officially ;)
Always found foam plugs to improve the in helmet listening experience as they reduce all the sound but you are able to boost the sound from the speakers that you want to hear. I just returned from a three week motorcycle trip had just got the Alpine red plugs before the trip and am convinced they are a better more comfortable solution.
I bought these and was quite disappointed with them compared to silicon moulded ear plugs. How ever, your bike doesn't have a screen. On mine, with the screen there is a lot of noise buut much quieter without the screen.
I've used the touring ones for over 6 months, I swear by them. Cheers!

Reviews that matter. Thanks for the good work.
Great topic Paul .
Wind noise annoys the hell out of me .
Will give the Alpines a shot .
Happy trails mate .
Good to know. Thanks.

how are the loop earplugs?
@ I think they are comfortable and great under a helmet but in public noise cancelling headphones are my choice. I do recommend them.🙏🙏🇦🇺👍

I test rode Harley's with and without a screen and found both unbearable at speed.
Yeah, my bike is much nicer without a screen in terms of wind noise. I'll have to try the moulded ear plugs one day.
