The main season for bonefish is May through October, I hear you can still catch them November through April but they are deeper. I was catching trevally that where chasing bait fish in late November.
I have tried to find guide in Kawai and O'ahu ,3years ago ,and could not find anyone ..I went on my own but only wading ,a lot of wind and no fish. Thanks for this great video!
I was there long enough to figure out you have to go during low tide so you are fishing the last three hours of ebb to low and the first three hours of a an incoming tide, during daytime. So every other week you'll have those conditions.
On Joint base Pearl Harbor - Hickam. As you look South from left side entrance to Pearl Harbor Kamehameha Beach sand bottom is on right Hicham Beach limestone bottom on left they are separated on land by a small mangrove patch. My son was stationed at Hicham and I jsut went with him . He'd drop me off and pick me up at end of day
Nice little movie, Ray, and what a great experience for you. You look at home on the flats.
Great video, I’ll have to check out those flats now! I’m just beginning to fly fish

Just curious what weight rod you used and type of fly line ?
I used a 10' 7wt Orivs Zero Gravity rod with an 8wt Orvis Hydros bank shot line with a sink tip.
