LITTLE ICE It comes so naturally for some reason but people don’t seem to like my content lately 😕 oh well as long as a few people do then it’s all good haha
I love the video! I've watched many videos trying to get a better understanding of how to install a catch can on a D series and this was the most informative and helpful one! Only thing I still don't understand is which part of the engine goes to which part of the catch can? I have a similar catch can with an "in" and an "out" port where the fittings go to.... Does the Breather go to the "in" fitting on the catch can or the "out" fitting on the catch can? Or does it not matter which one goes where? Just wanna be sure before I do the installation!
There is multiple ways to hook it up but this is the method I used. You should want the oil vapor in to be lower than the return to intake if doing a recirculating setup. So oil vapor from valve cover on the bottom nipple and top will go back to intake. If you are just running it like me both run into it and your good. The valve cover and the black box under the intake
U guys have some pretty laid back car regulations over there, here in Australia we can’t have a venting catch can, it has to circulate back into the turbo intake. We can’t have atmospheric venting BOVs, it has to be plumb back and no POD filters without an enclosure, it has to be in an Airbox or sucking air outside the engine bay like in a wheel well.
Only thing I dont like about them is the size of the breather port is a little small. I'd you plan to run more hp and more boost they can become a restriction. But perfect for lower home set ups
Nice, enu. With a good sense of humor while sharing how to do stuff with your honda. Btw can you do a word of encouragement or blessing at the end of your videos just a suggestion tho. Nice video brogad.
Natch Belltaddeo Well I let god do all the blessings at the end of every video that’s why I say god bless. I think it’s a good gesture but nothing is scripted for this channel ever I feel it makes it more genuine: I have a general idea of what to say but when it comes down to it it’s all improvised. Most people don’t make it to the end of my videos anyways -_-
Ohk, I watch the videos but your correct when it reach to the end sometimes I move on to a next video. But I will start watching the video to the very end
Why wouldn't you run a PCV valve? Wouldn't that cause a vacuum leak? I've used low quality PCV valves and if they don't stick closed at idle it rattles and throws off my fuel trim..
Wow is this video shot with the GoPro. It came out looking good !! Having first person view is going to make videos more interesting see you in the next one
I mentioned it in the video. For best results don't skip around the video you might miss something small or major. I bought the black rubber hose separate but the blue hose came with the kit.
I do have a Saturn (4banger 😂). My car has a regular PCV hose, but it also has a hose going from the engine to the intake pipe. I don't know if you know anything about this car, but if you do it'd be awesome.
Joshua If you have a closed system yea you can leave pcv my understanding of pcv valves is there needs to be a vacuum source to help open the valve but I guess it wouldn’t be the same in all cases. A close system would be best for people who are worried about emissions or fuel economy
You can copy and paste that on eBay.... There's a fitting they sell that deletes the black box and pcv completely and turns the hole in the block that the black box goes into into a 10AN fitting that you run directly to the catch can
It don't run on vacuum or anything. Since its just capturing positive crank pressure it just vents it with a filter. Takes the oil out of the vapors and the rest gets vented to Atmosphere. I was running it straight to atmosphere already and it was just leaking oil everywhere so this is a cleaner way to do that lol. Car runs the exact same.
@@TexasHondaChannel ah the setup was different on my car. When it went to atmosphere on the one side it would mess with boost. The pcv valve only opened inward. When it broke it bled boost. Hard to explain. But factory it had two one was an inlet from the intake to the valve cover that only let air in when the valve pulled vacuum. The other came out under pressure and ran to the intake side of the turbocharger. The one that broke would spray oil everywhere
sinformant Ah I see. Yea the rear black box on the civic runs to a pcv valve but they won’t allow any crankcase pressure by unless there is vacuum so I always remove them pcv valves and I don’t recirculate. Too much issues can come from recirculating it and why ruin a perfectly good system that works 🤷🏻♂️. Idk if that made sense lol
@@TexasHondaChannel yeah I understood. Its bad on the direct injection ecotec engines since there is no injector spraying in the intake. The intake valves get so much built up it is insane. If you googled it you would freak.
I dont mean to be offtopic but does any of you know a way to log back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly forgot the password. I would love any help you can give me!
@Bowie Oscar Thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process atm. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.

I know this is late but there's a fitting that bolts into the spot the black box was in... you dont want air in there. both spots vent outwards, not in. youre probably thinking about the valve cover vent, which again vents out into the intake pipe, while the original pcv one vents to the manifold. he doesnt have to care though because its going to vent to atmosphere via the filter on top. it just creates less of an oily mess like he pointed about before the install. if you care to keep your fumes for emissions or mpg reasons, you would do the opposite by plugging up the filter spot and only have the pcv location vent into the can and out the can into the manifold and have the valve cover one vent to the intake pipe or atmosphere. the real messy one is the one with the pcv. you can just put the filter on the valve cover to make less of a mess and have the pcv the only thing going to the can. also consider that he's doing a race setup so it wont be smart to push high pressure into the intake piping while having the valve cover venting into said pipe. you'll blow out basically all your valve cover gaskets and even other important sealing gaskets if you did the oem routing.
@@TexasHondaChannel So on a 1.5 liter you run a hose from the valve cover and the original black box to the oil catch can and it works just fine and does that eliminate the pvc valve?
You make working on cars look so easy me it takes forever lol

james styler Oh failed to mention it comes with different size ports lol
@@TexasHondaChannel I dont mean the ports for the hoses the actual one that vents to the filter
james styler I’m confused. It comes with larger screw in adapters for the filter for the inlets as well.
@@TexasHondaChannel the neck of the filter is a little smaller it is better when they are larger
so can you have an open system , breather can, hooked up to the PCV valve? or does it need to be a closed system for the intake manifold vacuum?

Took the fittings to the parts store and put on whatever fit. Im not sure on hose sizes.

Hey whats you review would you recommend that catch can for a basic all motor setup

Not pcv valve but a middle piece connector to insert it into the black box
