I love it out there. I live about 30-40 min away.. Was just out there this last weekend in fact! Need to watch out for migrants though. Not being a jerk but you should definitely utilize offline GPS maps and a GPS SOS beacon such as a Garmin Inreach. Glad you made it out safely!

I had my GPS but would have needed to use the trail tracking feature on the way in, which didn’t do. I knew exactly where I was and where the car was. The worst that would’ve happened (maybe not the very worst) is that I’d have to bivy for the night b/c even though I had flashlights, it would’ve been tougher in the dark to find my way. I would’ve made it out the next day for sure. I could use one of those rescue buttons but wouldn’t have used it on this trip. The thing to learn from this experience is not necessarily bring more tech, but to be careful about remembering the way in and also being sure to always keep a positive mental attitude.

you never found the trail to the top, I presume..?
don't go in the woods alone, if you think the woods are "spooky". it might not end well.

There is no trail to the top, only some climbing routes including one I'll summit on soon. I agree with your second sentence and will think about you sitting at home next time I'm out there ;)
