      Thanks! Was worried about this video, been so long since i used Ansible and it's definitely not like riding a bike. Also Thanks for being a channel member. Would you let me know what colors you prefer more? The complete black background with green text shown at like 55:28? Or the normal dark blueish blackground and light gray text shown in my other videos.

    I did not have much contact with ansible other than grabbing secrets from it whilst doing CTFs. But man I am loving some good customization. So this video comes in really handy if I want to start automating this process, which I certainly will. Thanks for "introducing" on how to use ansible for this task.

  • @ghostinc7

    I did the same thing but just use one main.yml and use tags to only include what I want run like just go tools or just tmux customizations. just makes it easier for me to read.
    example command:
    >ansible-playbook main.yml --tags tmux,tools
    So that run all blocks tagged with tmux and tools. Granted if was doing right or for public consumption might use roles.

    • @ippsec
      @ippsec  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tags is a good call, maybe I could combine the two. This is only the first video of a multi-part series. Plan to release one a week expanding on things, right now channel members can see two more videos. One of which does make use of templates which roles really starts to make sense.

    Absolutly great work man. Iam not sure if you have the same Problem but when i run the script to install all, the bashrc file doesnt copy to the HOME directory. I changed the customize-terminal main.yml file and set the "Copy Bashrc" at the end of the file. I have no Idea why but now it works.

    In your early videos you were using Kali and nowadays you are using parrot, what made you make this transition if both systems are look alike and they are Ali it’s the same ?

    • @ippsec
      @ippsec  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are mostly the same. When Kali switched to a rolling distro long ago, apt bricked my system twice. So I ended up switching to Parrot, just to try something different.

    • @ippsec
      @ippsec  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You should never use a VM to crack passwords. Use your host operating system or another computer. To find specific topics like this use ippsec.rocks.

    What VM software are you using? Everytime I create a VM on my desktop it becomes a PITA. I currently dual boot with Parrot but your VM performance always seems so stable.

    • @ippsec
      @ippsec  ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure you have 2 processors attached to the machine and open-vm-tools is installed on the VM. That being said I use VMWare Workstation but know Virtualbox is fine aswell.

    • @Aupheromones
      @Aupheromones 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had atrocious performance initially (VMware Workstation) and it wound up being my processor. Long story short, it has both P and E cores (performance / efficiency) and what stabilized my setup was to figure out which ones were which, and then add entries in config.ini (in the ProgramData Workstation folder) to only use the P's. Your mileage may vary, but it was a pain in my ass, so I thought I'd pass it along.

    Why are you not using Kali Linux

    • @ippsec
      @ippsec  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I used to use Kali, had apt screw things up one too many times when they switched to rolling. So I gave Parrot a try and haven't had a reason to go back. At the end of the day, really doesn't matter which one as a lot of stuff I use doesn't come from the package manager. For example, how I installed Kerbrute.
