Im 49. I retired from the Army as an Officer. I like to listen to oldies, my parents music. Although I managed to survive fighting in 2 wars my brother died of cancer at 45 last year and my Dad died 8 years ago at 60. I remember driving back and forth from Asheville to Atlanta with my Dad in the middle of the night jamming to all these songs. I miss him so bad it hurts. I've lived a very hard life. These days Ive bern obssessing with my stereo, equipment, speakers...just a good hobby. The music makes me feel so damn good but it opens alot of pain. God let me heal...
The listening to the music is the treatment…lost my only Son and my Father recently… omg…. Music and the love of my Wive helped me survive….and I am so grateful for the both.slowly dying inside. But am grateful to have lived!

When I hear these oldies to me it’s like it was yesterday, sometimes it makes me feel sad but mostly it makes me very happy because it shows me how young and happy I was. I just shared this video with my 47 year old son; he likes to listen to the music his dad and I like. Sometimes he listens to remakes and I have to tell him I heard that song before you were born, hahaha! I’m 77 and keep feeling young and happy by going to the gym 5 days a week!
I know you miss your parents. I miss mine too. But somehow we keep on to pull the next generation through. And so it goes. That is life and we just go with it. Your existence is important. i'm 19 and on vacation with my grandparents, when my grandma said she wanted to listen to music, i offered to put some on via youtube on the tv. she asked for 60s and 70s music and she and my grandpa look so happy now while it's playing 🥺💙💙
I'm 78 years old, I was a teenager in the 60's. I still enjoy listening to this music. I can still get up and dance to this music. We lived in the greatest times (60's) will never be replaced.. I'll go to my grave having this music played at my funeral.

I was born in 1953 and I am 70. This music is so special to me. I love all music but this mix is my favorite. Not only from my era but also my older brother’s and sisters. I can still see my youngest of brothers and his beautiful wife dancing to many of these songs. Also my sister and her husband dancing together. They have all since passed and I miss them terribly but I have many great memories.

I love all these old songs, but at the same time, they show me that this time is over and gone and won't come back with its dreams and hopes. Wish I had a chance to live the 70ies again.

We who experienced these songs as they were released has the blessing of living through the greatest era of American music. With TH-cam everyone can enjoy these and more, again, and again.
I'm 68 and I want to enjoy everyday because we just never know. I wish so much I could do this life all over again . I hope to live along time if God is willing. Starting to feel some things going on with my body but I will dance till I can't stand up anymore. If I am going to die I want music played at my bedside because it comforts me and makes me so happy.
Many nights I listen to these songs when I first get into bed and find myself an hour later still listening and wanting to stay up longer to listen to more.

@C Milne I keep telling my friends and my mom to be nice to their kids lol. He helped me a lot when I was younger to think and be independent. He even taught me to drive my first car, a stick shift, while only having one arm. No abuse, but some arguments for sure. While I was younger I worked as a nurse's aid and with people who had head injuries, developmental disabilities, and dementia. I hope your step-kids are willing to take care of you and their mom as well, but just in case, plan ahead lol.
I agree with you. It does not matter how old you are. What I love about classic music and movies is you get to find treasures all on your own. You get to find something special.
These songs hit deep. My dad died at 66 years old. He immigrated to California illegally at tender age of 14 and worked. Even though he was as Mexican as a cactus, he absolutely loved this genre. I grew up listening to these songs. Every time I would accompany my pops to his job, he was a construction worker by the way, we’d listen to KRTH 10.1.1. So from the age of 5-14 I would know all these songs by heart. He passed a few years ago from cancer and it still aches the deepest crevices of my heart. He was my best friend. These songs have great memories, but they hurt so much. I miss my pops so much.
I feel your pain. My dad died December 21st, 2002. I still cry when I think of him. He taught me so much and I miss him so very much. I have a black and white picture of a tree with a bench under it. I can almost picture us sitting and chatting.

I too am 68 years young and I remember these songs well. We hung out with the girlfriend with this music . Oh boy the memories! This music is all about feelings and love. Not hate and anger. Look over the hate and the differences going on today. We are all brothers and sisters in this world and we have to start looking out for one another instead of finding reasons to hate someone. The most awesome and wonderful music ever created. They remind me so much of my childhood a different era with a different class of young people polite and reserved. I live in Spain now (in my 70's) and run a small market stall at Flea markets. I recently starting playing music from this era and i've been amazed at how many people of different nationalities and ages pass my stall and either 'dance ' a bit or mouth the words to these old songs.
Whoever plays an instrument at the highest level, my respect and gratitude. You all are under appreciated, and you deserve respect for your craftsmanship and/or dedication.

@@clefton3112 We had more certainty than they have now. Yes, it wasn't politically correct and "woke" (which was both good and bad - good that we didn't have to keep monitoring what we said in case we upset people but bad that now we spend most of our time doing that!) but there wasn't the pressure on us that there is now. We didn't expect to buy a house (we were lucky if we could leave home and share with several others), there was almost full employment so getting a job was easy, there weren't so many students so there were grants instead of loans, there was reliable public transport even in rural areas, reliable contraception (the pill) was widely available for the first time so we had "free love", we girls didn't have to wear what our mothers wore, there was an expectation that things were getting better and that a new and wonderful time was not far off. Yes, there weren't the opportunities that young people have now. They can do almost anything - women are serving in elite military units, they're professors, doctors and test pilots. Unfortunately, they still don't earn the same as men but they 'ARE doing those jobs. On the downside they're expecting to leave university with thousands of pounds of debt which they have to repay once they earn over a certain amount - if they can find a job which pays that much (most of my generation didn't get the chance to go to university - I was 40 when I went), they expect to buy a house almost immediately they leave university and get a job instead of renting or sharing with others. Social media is a two-edged sword which, depending on how it's used is both good and bad. We had letters and a telephone which was just talk so we couldn't cyber stalk people. There's a lot more I could add. I see that they have far more choice but somehow I think they're more unhappy because they DO. They spend a lot of time agonising over what they should choose from a long list of options which we didn't have. "Take it or leave it" were ours! We also had to be more mentally resiliant. Almost every programme on radio and TV nowadays is accompanied by a warning that it "contains scenes which some people might find upsetting" and giving details of support groups which they might find helpful. We were expected to "put up with it" - not good in many cases but it taught us to stand on our own two feet. There's an anecdote about a writer who found a cocoon which he took home and kept on his desk so he could watch it develop. Came the day when the butterfly started emerging. It struggled and fought to break free of its casing. The writer watched it for an hour or so and then he decided to "help" it by cutting off the end of the cocoon. The butterfly was free but it was in a very sorry state. Instead of being a beautiful butterfly which would fly away into his garden it couldn't spread its wings, it couldn't walk and it died a few hours later. Sometimes we also need that struggle to make us stronger. By all means, help out when really needed but leave young people to deal with things on their own or they'll end up like that butterfly.

I'm 58 and when my Mom turned the music on or played vinal, 8 track, 45s. We would dance and do aerobics to the music. My Mother taught aerobics and she created an intense dance version. It was a blast. Awesome, far out, cool

I can remember back then I was about 10 yrs. old and every year on New Years Eve , they would play ALL the oldies from that year and the previous year. I would stay in my bedroom and listen to the radio all night. Such good memories. I'm 70 now and love them just like yesterday. Don't ever stop playing them.

I'm only 12, but I know SO MANY of these songs and the musicians. My parents were born in the early 80s, and they grew up listening to this (Even though they were born 10-20 years after these songs were published.). Glad that they introduced me to these songs, too.

The pandemic brought me to this beautiful country for which I have always felt great respect and gratitude because part of my family has lived here for decades. Until then, December 2020, I only spoke Spanish but since I was a teenager this music has captivated me. As teenagers in the sixties when we didn't have TV listening to this music was something we all looked forward to on a Sunday afternoon on radio. We danced and sang heartily and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly! It was a time when we were so young and free and life was oh so good.! Its good to know these golden oldies are still in circulation. Although I managed to survive fighting in 2 wars my brother died of cancer at 45 last year and my Dad died 8 years ago at 60. I remember driving back and forth from Asheville to Atlanta with my Dad in the middle of the night jamming to all these songs. I miss him so bad it hurts. I've lived a very hard life. These days Ive bern obssessing with my stereo, equipment, speakers...just a good hobby. The music makes me feel so damn good but it opens alot of pain. God let me heal...
The listening to the music is the treatment…lost my only Son and my Father recently… omg…. Music and the love of my Wive helped me survive….and I am so grateful for the both.slowly dying inside. But am grateful to have lived!
So sorry to hear you’re having sad times. When I hear these oldies to me it’s like it was yesterday, sometimes it makes me feel sad but mostly it makes me very happy because it shows me how young and happy I was. I just shared this video with my 47 year old son; he likes to listen to the music his dad and I like. Sometimes he listens to remakes and I have to tell him I heard that song before you were born, hahaha! I’m 77 and keep feeling young and happy by going to the gym 5 days a week!

I was born in 1953 and I am 70. This music is so special to me. I love all music but this mix is my favorite. Not only from my era but also my older brother’s and sisters. I can still see my youngest of brothers and his beautiful wife dancing to many of these songs. Also my sister and her husband dancing together. They have all since passed and I miss them terribly but I have many great memories.

@C Milne I keep telling my friends and my mom to be nice to their kids lol. He helped me a lot when I was younger to think and be independent. He even taught me to drive my first car, a stick shift, while only having one arm. No abuse, but some arguments for sure. While I was younger I worked as a nurse's aid and with people who had head injuries, developmental disabilities, and dementia. I hope your step-kids are willing to take care of you and their mom as well, but just in case, plan ahead lol.

These songs hit deep. My dad died at 66 years old. He immigrated to California illegally at tender age of 14 and worked. Even though he was as Mexican as a cactus, he absolutely loved this genre. I grew up listening to these songs. Every time I would accompany my pops to his job, he was a construction worker by the way, we’d listen to KRTH 10.1.1. So from the age of 5-14 I would know all these songs by heart. He passed a few years ago from cancer and it still aches the deepest crevices of my heart. He was my best friend. These songs have great memories, but they hurt so much. I miss my pops so much.

@@clefton3112 We had more certainty than they have now. Yes, it wasn't politically correct and "woke" (which was both good and bad - good that we didn't have to keep monitoring what we said in case we upset people but bad that now we spend most of our time doing that!) but there wasn't the pressure on us that there is now. We didn't expect to buy a house (we were lucky if we could leave home and share with several others), there was almost full employment so getting a job was easy, there weren't so many students so there were grants instead of loans, there was reliable public transport even in rural areas, reliable contraception (the pill) was widely available for the first time so we had "free love", we girls didn't have to wear what our mothers wore, there was an expectation that things were getting better and that a new and wonderful time was not far off. Yes, there weren't the opportunities that young people have now. They can do almost anything - women are serving in elite military units, they're professors, doctors and test pilots. Unfortunately, they still don't earn the same as men but they 'ARE doing those jobs. On the downside they're expecting to leave university with thousands of pounds of debt which they have to repay once they earn over a certain amount - if they can find a job which pays that much (most of my generation didn't get the chance to go to university - I was 40 when I went), they expect to buy a house almost immediately they leave university and get a job instead of renting or sharing with others. Social media is a two-edged sword which, depending on how it's used is both good and bad. We had letters and a telephone which was just talk so we couldn't cyber stalk people. There's a lot more I could add. I see that they have far more choice but somehow I think they're more unhappy because they DO. They spend a lot of time agonising over what they should choose from a long list of options which we didn't have. "Take it or leave it" were ours! We also had to be more mentally resiliant. Almost every programme on radio and TV nowadays is accompanied by a warning that it "contains scenes which some people might find upsetting" and giving details of support groups which they might find helpful. We were expected to "put up with it" - not good in many cases but it taught us to stand on our own two feet. There's an anecdote about a writer who found a cocoon which he took home and kept on his desk so he could watch it develop. Came the day when the butterfly started emerging. It struggled and fought to break free of its casing. The writer watched it for an hour or so and then he decided to "help" it by cutting off the end of the cocoon. The butterfly was free but it was in a very sorry state. Instead of being a beautiful butterfly which would fly away into his garden it couldn't spread its wings, it couldn't walk and it died a few hours later. Sometimes we also need that struggle to make us stronger. By all means, help out when really needed but leave young people to deal with things on their own or they'll end up like that butterfly.

The pandemic brought me to this beautiful country for which I have always felt great respect and gratitude because part of my family has lived here for decades. Until then, December 2020, I only spoke Spanish but since I was a teenager this music has captivated me. Now I try very hard to learn English and it is not only the rhythm, but also the meaning of each of these songs that continues to captivate me. Thanks for sharing 😊

I’m 63 and oh how I remember those songs. My Dad would have band practice in our living room and play those songs, As we were told to go to bed and get to sleep. Yea RIGHT😊😁😝🤪. Good ole days are gone but the sweet sweet memories live on through your music. Thank you.

As teenagers in the sixties when we didn't have TV listening to this music was something we all looked forward to on a Sunday afternoon on radio. We danced and sang heartily and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly!
It was a time when we were so young and free and life was oh so good.!

The sounds of the greatest generation. (She said smugly.) I graduated in 1970, so this was such a big part of my life. We never went ANYWHERE without a radio. We save babysitting and lawn mowing money to buy 45s and the occasional LP. Thanks for the post.
If any of that is true you would know that these are all terrible re-recordings, not the great original versions you would have heard on the radio
