    This car aged really well. Especially speaking how old it is in comparison to the competition. People are still buying the 19's and 20's and I see why. I see more civics on the road than any other sedan in any class.

    Even with this gen civic still being older than the newer vehicles (corolla, Elantra, Jetta, etc) I think it is still the best Compact car in the market along side the Mazda 3 (except the mazda3 hatch)

    I have a 2016 Civic Touring sedan which I bought used 2 years ago as my daily driver. 50,000 miles so far and no issues at all. Everything works well and that 1.5L turbo motor doesn't lack for power on my highway work commute. Micah's assessment is spot on.

    2019 Hatchback EX here, my favorite thing that's easy to miss in coastal states is the remote start. Car will detect if it's under 40F and start defrosters and seat heaters. Nothing better than getting in a car during a freezing morning to warm seats and cabin!

    • @MicahMuzio

      Such a logical feature. 🤘

    • @JulezWinnfield
      @JulezWinnfield 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Civics keyfob remote start is an overlooked feature vs its main competitors (Corolla, Elantra, Mazda3). I like it in my 2016 Civic Touring sedan on those blazing Tennessee summer days when I can have the a/c already cooling the interior when I leave work.

    I love my 2020 Civic Sport. I bought mine new. I have to agree that because I invested my own hard earned money into buying it, that I do love it's over shape an design. I don't look at my car and say damn that's an ugly car. I actually love the designs of it. The sleek fastback design and the unique tail lights remind me of the American cars of the 50's and 60's. Something I think a lot of car companies have long since abandoned. At least on the X Gen Civic Honda rolled the dice an took a chance. They said "We want to try something different from everyone else." And I think it worked beautifully. Look at the a lot of the cars on the road today. You almost have to get along side them to see what they are. Not with a Gen X Civic. You can spot those tail lights a mile away.

    I know you'll definitely let your daughter do what she wants to do in her life. But when she said "Honda CR-V", I strongly felt you should send her for an early internship to your colleague Lyn Woodward. Make her start early.
    As usual good review Micah.

      Micah Muzio : Completely agree with that. It was so cute to hear her say Honda CR-V. I felt nostalgic how I too used to make my 3 year little niece say Lamborghini, Audi, Porsche, Mercedes 😂😂😂. It’s was fun to watch how she struggled to speak Lamborghini and Mercedes but she picked up whatever that was close to it. Oh! “Audi” was pretty easy catch. Obviously!!
      Evie, as usual, is a perfectionist. She picked up all those words and the attention to details. She could be an amazing critic. Yes, true.
      Well, as for who drives a manual on the planet, I’ve actually never driven an automatic save for the automatic scooters. Yeah, I am one of those dying species who is soon to be extinct 😂.

    IMO the CVT in the Civic is one of the best in the business. It's not overstressed with the torque output from the 1.5T (I'm looking at you, Nissan) but once you learn over time how to lean into the throttle to get what you want out of it, it's entirely forgettable in exactly the right way.

    • @MicahMuzio
      @MicahMuzio  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Sorry for commenting on old videos, but I recently discovered your own channel and I’m obsessed with watching your videos, interaction with the family and your obvious knowledge ability whatever it is you’re talking about.. whether it’s cars, helicopters or movie trivia… hence the CVT change is definitely like the Matrix and making it worse because our feeble minds just need continuity and lack of perfection! Fun review. Again…. beautiful family!

  • @zhangrenhou

    The Touring is also the only trim with power passenger seat, heated rear seats, auto LED headlights, chrome door handles, rain-sensing wipers, and paddle shifters, which kind of makes me wonder how those work with a CVT. Hmmm...

  • @stepheng3667
    @stepheng3667 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    My wife bought the same car 6 months ago. Great steering feel and I love the way the CVT feels in city driving but it is a little strange on the highway when you floor it. There are a lot of CVT haters out there but this one is very good. Biggest dislike about this car and I've never seen any review ever mention it is the seating positions in front. It literally feels like you are sitting on the floor. Even compared to other compacts it is low. Especially the front passenger seat, I'm 6'1 and I can't get comfortable. I wouldn't want to take a road trip in that seat.

    • @stephencivic1989
      @stephencivic1989 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there Stephen G. Great name by the way. I know I'm late to the chats but I just wanted to agree with some of your statement and provide a suggestion. I am 6'8" and know the issues of buying a car that can fit me. I find that if you use the forward lever to push down the back portion of the seat while keeping the back rest fairly erect it will negate most of the problem of a lower seat. Or at least give the illusion of having a higher seat position. Also I would agree that a lot of people hate on CVT's like redheaded stepchild. And it's really undeserving, I found that my CVT is more than adequate for acceleration and reliability. I own a 2020 Civic Sport Sedan with a 2.0 liter and love it. Are there better cars out there? Most definitely. Does this car have flaws for most people? Most likely. But you have to admit that for the price point the 10th Gen was going for when new. It was punching above it's class. And yes I agree that long road trips are an obstacle in comfort. But it still holds better in that category then most of the competition in the economy car segment.

    The first new car I remember being impressed with was a new Honda Civic from 1987 a friend's dad had bought. As Micah so eloquently put it, it was very zippy. Us Gen X'ers have very fond memories of Hondas because the 80's and 90's were owned by the Civic, Prelude and Accord.

    • @ovp66223
      @ovp66223 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@asfandasadiq4634 NAh, it's America, pretty soon we'll be at 25" wheels with 1/4" of rubber (if you can still see a tire) and it will ride comparably to a Model T Ford over anything but perfect pavement. Hint: There is no perfect pavement anywhere in the USA these days.
      I hate that all the "top trims" of cars and SUVS force you into the bigger wheels with much worse ride and usually a small hit to MPG as well (weight of wheel). True, handling is better, but I don't need it on the highway nor in the burbs/city becuase too much traffic to drive fast to need good handling.
      Make it a free option to downsize wheels and still get all the goodies.

    It’s funny, the comments of “old” stuff. I always saw the Civic as incredibly youthful. All the cool, off beat kids I knew in school had one. Now, those kids are adults, many starting families. And yet the Civic is still there, if not a bit more mature.
    Still a hint of youth, I suppose.

    Honda builds such good vehicles from lawn mowers to motorcycles to cars. I've owned several and never encountered a problem with any of them. If I were in the market for a compact sedan the Civic would be on the short list. I have to say, though, that the new Kia Forte GT would be there, as well.

    I've got the Si sedan, a lot of fun to drive. Way better than the last Si I had back in 2000. The road noise is a little loud due to the 18 inch tires and the infotainment system is about average for today's world. I haven't had any major issues going on 50k miles. Cars aren't made as good as they used to be but I think these Civics are about as good as you can get unless you want a boring Corolla or Camry. I'd say this is about a 5-7 year car before selling it you gotta admit that ain't too bad!

    It’s one of very few compact sedans who’s back doors are as long as its front doors giving it the appearance of a much longer sedan and allowing the stylists to sculpt. The last Civic sedan to have an equally sized rear door was my long gone ‘98.

      @@skoprowski No worries, it's a fair question! The Touring is much less efficient and the only major disparity between it and the EX-L is the wheel and tire package. Apparently running a 235/40R18 tire absolutely kills highway efficiency versus the EX-L's 215/50R17. 🤷‍♂️
