It sounds great but $3,400 for a head is pretty steep without a cabinet or it even being hand-wired. I guess they just want us all deep in debt. 😉 Great post, Darrell.
That doesn't sound unreasonable with the post-COVID pricing of everything being what it is these days. I'm not saying I like it, but this feels inline to me. ......I miss 90s pricing. :)
@@BenBreardYou mean the post-COVID price gouging? Because at this point that's exactly what it is. It's an excuse, not reality. Everybody is doubling or tripling prices, because people like you swallow the nonsense hook, line and sinker. Don't get me wrong, some are caught in the middle, with certain monopolies and conglomerates extorting everybody else because they can. But the root cause of the current price trends has ZERO to do with COVID. It's uncontrolled greed, pure and simple.
friedman is pcb and has less channels, and no ir loadbox and is 4000 usd? Maybe buy a milkman amp that is 40 watts with a straight up fender circuit copy for 4000 usd? keep crying
For home use with bigger amps, I recommend a volume pedal. A good volume pedal will keep your tone the same, but at lower volumes. Now that I found out how much volume can be reduced with one, I am no longer scared of how loud a bigger tube amp will be in my house. I will use a 2x12 Cab which is all you need for only small and medium sized gigs and if you are on a mic at bigger shows than you will be able to get enough volume anyways plus if you are too loud to fit well in a live mix than a volume pedal can help you not sound too loud. As to 4x12s sounding fuller, in a band mix I don't want too much bass anyways.
I have the Revv G20, not as many bells and whistles, but ABSOLUTELY amazing tone!!! If ya all are interested in trying Revv, that could be a great, more budget friendly, way to go. I love mine!!
Darrell I love your channel. You do an awesome job! I can't possibly try all the guitars or tech you use so living vicariously through your TH-cams is the way. Am learning a ton.
I like how Darrell chooses an affordable guitar to play through what is, for most, an unaffordable amp, and, of course, the guitar sounds great. Lots of layers to that outcome. Still, you are practically getting four amps, each for under a K...so there's that...
Get a Little Vox Amp. I have a Small Vox Valvetronix Amp. It does almost everything these expensive amps do. The Amp has a 12ax7 Tube that Gives it an Upper Hand when it comes to do it all Amps. The Built in effects kick ass 2.
Loved the clean tone and the higher gain channels were more than I’d ever want but you started ch.2 at 11:00 and so I’m left wondering can it do a great edge of breakup cuz I didn’t hear that at all.
Yes, I’d see it first and foremost as a studio amp. There does seem to be option overload for a gigging amp and personally I’d be afraid to become reliant on it for gigs. More tech=more to potentially go wrong. Cool amp though.
Thanks for video, wonderful AMP with great features but for the cost the esthetics feel a bit off with the light bleeding at top of face plate and the white plastic dials looks a bit cheap. Just in my opinion, I guess I am spoiled with the flashy Hughes & Kettner.
"Flippertty flippers Outstanding Amp", colour/features 💯% Reverb isounds great on every channel. $6000 amp here in Australia would you believe. But worth it for what its got. That was something 👍
Great review, thank you Darrell! Makes me curious how you view the Hughes & Kettner Grandmeister DeLuxe 40 now, i remember you got that one not too long ago for the same purpose. Will the Revv replace it or do you use them both for different purposes?
If one modern tube amp could get you close to ALL the tones, this 4 channel BEAST is as close as it gets! It has unique tones and insane versatility! Amp link/specs - sweetwater.sjv.io/Y9BJae Enjoy :)
Great video Darrell! I do not own the 120 but I own the Revv Dynamis 7-40 which is a 2 channels 40 watter. The Revv cleans are really something else. The Dynamis' clean channel is an incredible pedal platform too and it's Red channel is not exactlyl ike any on the Generator but it's thick saturated distortion at higer gan and awesome crunch at lower gains. I do also own two Revv pedals in the G2 which emulates channel two (green) of this amp here and the G4 which emulates channel 4 (red). The G4 is espcially thick and saturated on red aggression. You had yours sounding a little thin to my taste here. My favorite dirty amp in the Helix is the Revv Gen Red so I have indirect experience with it. At lower gain level and aggression blue it does a very good job doing an 800 like thing but with a lot more thickness and you still have more than half the gain on tap. The gem on this amp seems to be the green channel though (as is the G2 pedal). I love the mid gain crunchy tones it gives me. I'll eventually get the full Genrator but my Dynamis with the pedals is giving me the best tones I ever had! Congrats on getting this great amp!
Thought you had the Hughes and kettner.. already looking for a new cornerstone? Didnt you just get it like a year and a half ago? Sheesh. Took me 3 years to save for my Hughes and I love it. It was more expensive than this Revv. Really liked the Revv in the review tho. It had a warmth that my Hughes gets close to but the Revv almost wraps those tones in a blanket type warmth. Existential Amp crisis. Thanx a lot Darrell. I needed to afford another top shelf Amp like I need another hole in the head.
Have you ever heard of and or considered reviewing a Bacicz Identity acoustic guitar? I have been considering buying one as they are boutique and my guitar teacher has been using one for his gigs and claims that there value is astronomical for the price point. but there isnt a single review anywhere on the internet within the last 12 years
Hi.. I am from India and am interested to learn guitar but electric only as I feel the acoustic one is very big and it is a turn off for me. Now I am really confused on which electric guitar to buy as there are lot of things to consider. The points that I would like to consider is: 1. I don't have quite long fingers. So the neck width and it's shape needs to be considered. 2. Since I don't know to play guitar the ergonomics, playability will matter as if it doesn't feel good to play then I would tend to loose interest and stop to learn. 3. Budget. Based on the below would you be able to guide me with the guitar, amp, processor/pedal that would be idle for a beginner like me with so much of constraints.
Start out with a new or slightly played before Fender Squire. And try either a Stratocaster or Telecaster as those are the 2 models they are most know for, but but as always play what feels good to YOU my friend. Because at the end of the day it's only going to be having to actually put your time, patience and skin(lol) down on that thing. As for the amplifier, I'd say go for a decent ValveState or tube amp, or go for something like a Fender Mustang GTX many, many great preloaded tones/setting already on there plus you can dial in tones that are 100% your own as well. Good luck my friend. Cheers.
Every sound is pretty much modern aggressive, though. Why do you want one amp for your studio, if the channels don't really sound that different, and the amp section and speaker cab per channel is the same? Why not use several small combos and/or heads and small cabs to cover different things. You really don't even need more than one speaker per cab, or you can use 4 different speakers in a 4x12 if you don't mind the amp reactance always being the same. You could even just mount speakers on a large board with individual inputs and tie some fiber and/or shredded memory foam pillows on the edges against a wall, and open however many you want for the bass response and room sound. You can just post EQ the bass and mids to mimic a 2x or 4 x cab. The one-size-fits-all amp approach means everything is compromised.
For that one guy who wanted the complexity of a digital modeling amp combined with the cost, weight, and maintenance of a tube amp! It DOES sound good, though...
Yo Darrel great vid.....it does sound very good, but you would have to say that for the price...it bloody well should! You cannot call it affordable, can you mate? Personally, I have gone through varous tupes of amps... It is very subjective but I find that all thoae nobs and all those options...become your anemy, costant fiddle and tweaking. Just like multi effects pedalboards...now on the shelf, they look cool! I find that if you wanna play the guitar - gear fetishism and special requirements are different matter - the best is a simple, good amp, no effects, besides some modulation, maybe in the loop....and bloody play! Listen and learn how to play that sound... and you develop your play, instead of constantly chasing the dragon. I am not a music pro, I play mostly at home and i am no teeanger...but I am guessing that millions are like that. We get sucked into this endless and expensive marry go round of gear and nobs....bonkers! Having said all that that amp does look and sound great but it's also pointless, a great display of possibilities and tech...that leads to a tone you'll never reach! Or end up using the same 2, very expensive, settings... In the end I got stuck with a PRS MT 15, it is not as expensive or complex as others I have and have had ..but sounds fantastic man, and does what is needed really, really well. Take it easy 🤘👽

I get that you're using it for the channel, and why not make a video while you're at it. That kind of coin can buy a pre-CBS fender Blackface, AND a JCM800. Or buy a Kemper and a cabinet.
such a killer Amp but its just to much $ for me and really for most people. at a lower price this thing is so killer. I've played with one and this could be my last Amp I buy type amp
Needs more knobs.
My two channel Marshall Valvestate AVT150 has a very similar number of knobs. 🤔
where u gonna have to put em on the back
Hahaha!
Hehe
As a Ksr Artemis owner. There could always be more knobs and switches.

Hello Darrell, really nice tones . Four independent channels. That is fantastic. Just not affordable for the average player. Great video .
proudly from Canuckistan 🇨🇦 Thanks Darrell
I have the Revv G20, not as many bells and whistles, but ABSOLUTELY amazing tone!!! If ya all are interested in trying Revv, that could be a great, more budget friendly, way to go. I love mine!!
Revv and Hughes & Kettner are some of the most underrated amps out there.
Darrel has uploaded again, day officially made
Darrell I love your channel. You do an awesome job! I can't possibly try all the guitars or tech you use so living vicariously through your TH-cams is the way. Am learning a ton.
Four good amps in one, great idea
I picked up one of these bad boys two months ago. Really amazing amp. Got mine in blue snake skin
I’ve had mine for around 6 months and absolutely love it. Very versatile
Awesome review @DarrellBraunGuitar
Glad you finally got to try out one of our amps!!
I can see the JVM410 influence !!
Looks great in white. Killer sounding and very versatile. 120/10 watts. Oh the Gas pains are starting lol. Thanks Darrell 👍
Killer sounds! Not sure I'm a fan of the aesthetics, but the sound's the thing!
Videos like this is always thumbs up👍
Thank you so much Darrell! Really appreciate the review and we're glad that you enjoy the amp!
really? didn't do you a favor at all... this guy is milk toast

@@adamstrachn The upgraded music man version starts at 3.8k and goes into the 6ks. The amp is almost 3.5k...
Did I win the REV AMP for making nice comments?@DarrellBraunGuitar..-.

It can, there are lots of vids up and show that
THAT amp is METAL! so maybe just not for you 😂..so lets wait until telegram spam is hunting me for that comment just as usual here
Yes, I’d see it first and foremost as a studio amp. There does seem to be option overload for a gigging amp and personally I’d be afraid to become reliant on it for gigs. More tech=more to potentially go wrong. Cool amp though.
Now if they made a 50 or 60 watt version? Yep!
They do now, G50 3 channels version 50 watts
Wow !!! Every Mode and Style !!! And won't be Suprised if this is at certain times !!! Goes to Sold-out quickly !!!
I love Revv Amps they are amazing I suck playing at guitar tho lol
Sounds great, that is a lot of options from one amp.
4:22 Hey! That’s Stevie T’s acoustic riff he used for his “How to be Ed Sheeran” video!
I suppose great minds think alike, eh?
That lead tone sounds fantastic (Channel 3), especially combined with that Majesty! Awesome video, as always.
C4 sounds somewhat of a 80’s Crate/Peavy transistor tone style..
Damn the all white looks really cool, I have this amp but it’s all black
I’ve been meaning to try the Revv model on my Helix.
Oooh pretty lights
... yeeeeeeeesssssss...
Great video Darrell!!!

Anything from Canada must be great, as long as it is not named Trudeau. lmao
Nice review, phenomenal amp!
Wonderful sound in all channels 🙏👍😏
Thats an awesome combination, that Revv Amp with that Sterling sounds great. I'm curious what your Paoletti sounds like through this amp.
Clean tones great off the bat!
Thanks, great demo. I just wish it went to 11.
It's a killer amp for sure! 😻😻😻
3,400 bucks! Whoa!!! Plus, another 1000 bucks for the 2 speaker cabinet that's $4,400.00
Yep, not made in China…
Awesome Amp. Sweet Sweet Tone!
I like this amp. Great work. 👍👍
Great Video Darrell!
Thanks for the info!
I wonder about the longevity of the switches they chose?
I'll have to do a long-term follow up after a year or so!
Darrell, you forgot to mention the most important detail of all :
Revv amplification is based in Canada 😉🇨🇦 !
So how does the versatility compare to the Hughes and Kettner Grandmeister 40 which also feature packed although it lacks a truly clean channel?
Very nice! Gonna get ugly over time when the crud builds up but l digress
Great review, thank you Darrell! Makes me curious how you view the Hughes & Kettner Grandmeister DeLuxe 40 now, i remember you got that one not too long ago for the same purpose. Will the Revv replace it or do you use them both for different purposes?
Each channel sounds great and has it's purpose for a variety of songs. It's expensive, but if you're doing a lot of gigging, it's worth it.
Great sounding amp. I have the revv G3 pedal and it’s awesome. Although for that money I don’t see me getting one of those lol
The Mezzebarba is going to collect dust!
