I was looking at the fittings for your old water system and I was thinking “Lauren really should replace that” and bingo. There goes the hole spewing water. But you did so well. Your patience is amazing. (You probably don’t think so, but I do).😊
Congratulations, Lauren. You are a one of a kind. You are very special. You will change men's reality of what women can, will, and do. stick to your guns.
Good work on the repairs. When I saw that gingerbread mess of manifold fittings, it reminds me that the hidden systems on sailboats are often built with little thought for service or maintenance, and are poorly engineered and badly fabricated. All those threaded fittings were almost guaranteed to leak somewhere, and it would have been better to pressure test the manifold with plugs on the outlets before the awful task of installing it in the floor. Worm clamps are another built in failure point but they are cheap and therefore used frequently.
It always helps to have a couple of small elves aboard to help fix things in those small space's. Amazing job on that manifold. You really know that boat, all the best to you and Mako.

It’s making about 90 gph. You need to be on top of the pre filters. Did you install the automatic water rinse? Keep up the good work. 👍
You're amazing. One challenge after another and you rise to the occasion and persevere. Keep on truckin' Skipper. Love your videos and your infectious positive attitude.
I love your tenacity! building up a mainfold as you did isnt an easy task. a trick "if you didnt know" is to make a pot of boiling water and put the end of the hose in it, or use a heat gun to soften the ends of the water hose, it will slip on to the barbed fitting with much less effort! best of luck to you!

Because of the way Lauren assembled the replacement manifold without pressure testing before mounting, I feel that it is a potential nest of scorpions waiting to bite her in the not-too-distant future. Also the valve on the water-maker line is not mounted or secured and is another worry. I think the plumbing and electrics on the boat need a professional refurbishment. I'm sure there have been a hundred comments saying that a sailboat needs to be simple and everything understood and repairable..... Way too much stuff, but I do hope it's all reliable for you.
Does the diesel require there to be back pressure on the exhaust? I ask because I don't really understand why they combine the hot water return from the saltwater exchange into the exhaust separating those pipes would prevent blow back or back pressure where the salt water could get in the oil system. Since that is the problem it seems more like a design issue of the exhaust system... Complete isolation between coolant and oil systems. Just curious my marine experience is U.S. Navy and I wasn't a boiler tech or sfbo so that doesn't relate to diesel well. But the auto mechanics does seem to apply a bit. In auto mechanics we would try and remove anything that created back pressure on the exhaust because it could kill the engine if it was running, lowers horsepower, and reduces engine efficiency, though it also makes it louder typically. That would also be an idea for a video.
Ok Lauren, continued amazement. Where do you get your knowledge from. Are you reading manuals, TH-cam or do you have this incredible background that you haven’t told us about. I’m very jealous! Well done again!

i already knew that i will be leaking when i saw it, just because of the number of connections...also you can make some mistakes with teflon tape. better would be one square block of metal with the right number of connections/holes for the fittings...this would remove at least 10 points where it could leak ...alternatively (and maybe cheaper would just be t-fittings connected with tubes which are secured with hose clamps)
Any time you think you could have trouble putting a hose on a barb, spray your barb down with WD40. if your hose is just too damn small, take your heat gun to it to soften it up and then shove it on the barb
All the drama with your muffler seems kinda strange. I installed a 60hp Isuzu diesel in my yacht and there is no muffler as such. There is a plastic box right before the thru hull just above the waterline at the stern near the centre of the boat. The box mixes the exhaust gas and raw water giving the same effect as a muffler. The box is a fraction the size of your muffler was available off the shelf and took about ten minutes to install. A hose takes exhaust and raw water from the heat exchanger to the stern then up to deck level and then down to the mixer and out. The loop up top deck level stops sea water from a wave running back in to the engine.
Ohh sweet girl.. Gosh I would've soldered you up a new manifold.. Im not picking on you really but those white plastic hose barbs are gonna haunt you one day. Atleast the will be easy to change out later but you should have several spares on hand because they get brittle and break easily. They make the grey/black colored ones but they're harder to find the right sizes but definitely use those next time. I so wanna just give you my number and say CALL ME! I would just like to encourage you to dismiss that stuff out of hand.l because even the most popular actors, artists, and other public personalities have the same thing to deal with. The big difference is that they have a pair staff to sift through all the comments they get, and pass along only the most relevant comments, and of course we never hear about all the hate mail they get, but they do get it, it's just part of putting yourself on display and going high profile, and the haters have no worth. It may rattle some people when they get those comments, but remember, they are only trying to get under your skin, and get a reaction from you. You don't owe them that reaction. For that matter you don't owe them anything.
Always looking forward to your next video,
Fair winds
Thank you so much for your encouragement!!! I hope you continue to enjoy!
@@laurenlanders It will still be couple years while I get my act together so I can sail to the Caribbean myself. Maybe I'll see you out there some time.
BTW, Which class license do you have? I'm planning to take a couple years to get at least my 6 pack or a 25 ton ticket, and then step it up as I get to it from there. Then I will see if I can get a business going out of Grenada. I could use all the advice I can get.
